touch woes

i restored it for no good reason except to have something to do until 2.0 shoes up for me. now my january update is gone. bother, still 1,4.4

But if one was 225MB and the other 218MB something doesn't add up. :) If yesterday's was labeled as 1,2 and today's is 1,1, perhaps the 1,2 is an upgrade for the 3G iPhone's as they may need some additional code to work with newer hardware like the GPS chip, etc?

Who knows! Maybe that's why people shouldn't download before the release!

I'm also getting the Accessing iTunes Store after I it installed and restarted the device. The phone has a picture of a cable and the iTunes logo and it's been sitting there for like 5 minutes.

Getting a little worried now. Anyone get passed this

The 2.0 update finally showed up for me after about a half hour of waiting, but after trying to install I got an error.

I am restoring to 1.1.4 now and then I will try again.

YES!! It's finally downloading (after clicking the Update button about 20 times). Bottom line: Don't give up!! Just keep clicking Update, and eventually it will download for you too! :)

OK, mine's activated now. But it's trying to connect to the iTunes store, and that's taking forever. I can't use my apps until it connects to the iTunes store!

The test would be having someone with a 3G iPhone do a restore to see what version it downloads.

Yes. :)

The 1,2 was the "prerelease" and today it's 1,1 "official". Official should be about 218MB and yesterday's was 225MB.

Thank you. By way of updating everyone else --

I early adopted 2.0 yesterday. And now when I click "Restore" within iTunes, it is downloading the 218.2 update for me. So, you may NOT need to use the link if yesterday's process has made you... link-shy.

I think I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to just download today's version and wait until someone a bit more knowledgeable gives us a comparison or someone finds an actual difference. So far, I'm not convinced there's a difference.

I see no compelling reason to risk bricking my already 2.0 and working fine iPhone w/ the millions of people all trying to get this at the same time.

2.0 or 1.1.4

we can't seem to make our minds up...
long I get the message that 1.1.4 is the latest version, then suddenly 2.0 is available if I want to 'learn more' , not really, just download it, but since that's not an option, click 'learn more' then the iTunes store can't complete my request, so I click on 'update' again, after which 1.1.4 is the current up to date version again.... what the..... :apple:

Don't worry, I am past that bit, my iPhone is restoring my videos and music now.

I think the iTunes store is a little busy right now:eek:

I was tempted, believe me, but I don't want to part with my Customize until I know that I can get it back, so I figured I'd wait for "official" upgrade and then for dev team to pwn it. :)

Two main dmg files:

Yesterday:
1,2
: 18-3782-2.dmg 205,418,496
: 18-3783-2.dmg 25,234,712

Release
1,1
: 18-3785-2.dmg 205,361,152
: 18-3786-2.dmg 18,836,240

Even if you're on yesterday's build... do you HAVE to restore back to 1.1.4 to get to the "official" 2.0, or can you just do the option-click method and select the one that came out toady?
