So, let me get this straight. The software is downloaded to the computer, it is transferred to the iPhone, it is verified, but we are now at the mercy of waiting for who-knows-what to occur at the iTunes Store. Why does it want/need to access the iTunes store???? I knew the process would take a while, but now we're stuck waiting for millions of people to access the store at the same time. Why?????

same for me

OK, mine's activated now. But it's trying to connect to the iTunes store, and that's taking forever. I can't use my apps until it connects to the iTunes store!

seems to be done with the install, but trying to connect to the iTunes store to finish and it is just spinning.

I guess it's busy.
:)

Mine also is "accessing iTunes store" waiting to be reactivated on the Connect to iTunes screen for the last 5-10 mins..... worried.

Might eject and try a reboot?

Well its official, I've got it through itunes, just as I was venting to a buddy of mine who is a mac genuis about how everyone else is enjoying the cloudy and juicy goodness that is iphone 2.0...

Unfortunatly I'm running through works internet (my computer, there internet) and we've had some issues with our speed. Looks like it is goign to be about an hour before the download is complete. HA HA HA . I wish i could of gotten it at home this morning, as Ive got 10meg there.

Downloading now in Portland, OR. :) I was hoping to get it downloading and installing before I started getting ready for work. Yay! I can go to work and hopefully get the push email working.

There is a button in my iTunes iPhone bit - under "Info" which is for MobileMe - saying Set Up Now. So I can do that from my mac yaaay.

this is sooooooo dumb.... if you have a password for itunes, you have to use it to download FREE apps! DUMB way to go....

Done, looks cool!

I decided to wait to restore the music and video, it was going to take too long. Aborted music restore and iTunes said that the restore could be done next time I plugged it in.

Minutes later, after playing around a bit, it is back in iTunes, restoring music and videos.

Looking forward to playing with "Remote" app for iTunes.

OH MY GOD, YES!

I was thinking the same thing!

And people who have perfectly good working 2.0 software w/ the same build # will most likely in a paranoid frenzy BRICK their iPhone TODAY with the allegedly somehow different OFFICIAL VERSION!

LMAO :D

I would love to see these "bricked iPhones" just from using Apple update. If mine bricked I would go to Apple store, tell them what happened and get a new iPhone for free. I had mine replaced and there was nothing really wrong with it. But that was back a few months. When Apple was all about customer service and good feeling around the iphone. Now that they are a phone company i bet all that good feeling stuff is out the window.

Question: What happens now if my 1st gen phone craps out on me, will they up me to a new 3G phone? I got my new replaced phone in March.

I now havea 2.0 phone but it is now stuck n trying to access itunes store so I can edit settings and sync options crazy stuff here!

I downloaded the things I needed from the store yesterday. Im stuck on software restore now!

It will probably sit at the Accessing iTunes Store part for a few minutes mine took about 5 minutes and I started having a cow because if my phone were to have bricked I would have flown to Cupertino and taken some engineers to task... I'm pretty sure they're already in pretty deep ****, what with MobileMe still not working correctly 24+ hours after the switch should have happened.

so instead of clicking through all that contacts calender mail crud, they now just have a mobile me interface?

Getting closer here in Singapore. At least now it says 2.0 is available, it just won't let me get it yet. iTunes Store error.

I'm not convinced it's actually accessing the iTunes store. I can get into the store, and I've downloaded a few apps to sync. But I can't get into my iPhone in iTunes yet. I think it's validating thru AT&T or Apple, rather then going to the iTunes store.

iPhone 2.0 update bricked it .....
Was never hacked and didn't try the update until today

went thru entire download now cannot connect to itunes please check network connection

Help????

we can't seem to make our minds up...
long I get the message that 1.1.4 is the latest version, then suddenly 2.0 is available if I want to 'learn more' , not really, just download it, but since that's not an option, click 'learn more' then the iTunes store can't complete my request, so I click on 'update' again, after which 1.1.4 is the current up to date version again.... what the..... :apple:

Seems like 2.0 is now finally the version available, although the iTunes store is not....
