Even threw up a message saying "May take some time" on the iPhones screen..

EDIT: Actually....even though the phone is activated according the screen, its gone back to trying to access the store and not allow me to sync.... hmmm

I was worried to but mine has got passed this. But stuck on trying to access the iphone on in itunes so i can restore my settings.

Wonderful. iTunes new that the 2.0 software was there. Now it tells me again 1.1.4 is the most recent.

I don't think what O2 are saying is correct.
Their website has a help article with a form you can submit to "add iPhone services" to an existing O2 PAYG SIM card.

I quote from O2, "You can put your existing O2 Pay & Go SIM card into your iPhone and use as normal".

The difference now is that iTunes lets you activate it with an O2 PAYG SIM card. Before it would not let you do this, which is why you then had to jailbreak it to fake activation (but not unlock it).

Note that another poster on here had a problem with his O2 SIM card in that iTunes would not recognise it for activation, however that appears to be an exception to the rule. O2 are sorting him out with a new SIM card.

So I simply install the new firmware and it'll ask me for some personal deets that i enter then it works? I cannot lose my 300 free texts for topping up £10 at any cost!

Has anyone in the UK with a 3G managed to make a call from it yet? I inserted the 3g sim card, but it just says 'no service'

Was i meant to activated the phone with my old iphone sim? or was the guy in the shop a fool for telling me to do so?

Getting closer here in Singapore. At least now it says 2.0 is available, it just won't let me get it yet. iTunes Store error.

I restored my iphone and my itunes downloaded the new version but with a new agreement and details. i had the leaked version.

about the only good thing thats happened this week with Apple and O2. Spent 2 hours in queue to find out "no 16gb left'.

twice ive been let down in one week.

they need to sort this out big style!

already on beta 2.0 BUT...

So, i've been beta testing the 2.0 software for the last month. Unfortunately, iTunes basically tells me that i already have the 2.0 version which is technically not correct since Apple put out a release that fixes some of the issues. GAAA!!

I installed 1,2 yesterday and decided to do another restore with the official 1,1 today just to be safe and avoid problems later. The restore is done, and it's verifying now. Hopefully, my backup will restore without any problems.
