For us non-technical types, can someone provide us with a lay-person version of the above? Thank

DFU Mode - Hold Power and Home button at the same time until the iPhone/iPod touch reboots and you see the apple logo. When you see the logo, let go of the Home button but NOT the Power button. When you see the connect to iTunes screen you can let go of the Power button. When you have that screen, you can restore your iPhone/ iPod touch to 1.1.4 in iTunes, provided you have the 1.1.4 .ipsw file. You can then update normally.

Seemingly. How many people are stuck at that point and are in the UK? Raise your hands peeps.

Yep. I had the pre-release since yesterday and was experiencing the odd problem with a less responsive screen and the like and was getting itchy fingers to get the "official version". That was a stupid thing to do and I'm now sitting here on the "Accessing iTunes Store" stage :(

Stuck at "Accessing iTunes Store" and getting the error:

out.php

Good ****ing work, Apple.

Thats what the console.log says...

Apple being slow on their sites doesn't surprise me but you would think that they could have gotten their servers prepared for one day having already gone through this with the first version

is anyone else able to access their visual voicemail? when i try to go to it, it instead calls my voicemail. (of course, i have no messages, but still, odd).

Still not working .... i have a t1 line at the office so should be fast but been over 45 mins without a phone and need it

apple is too secretive ..... seems this is not just a normal download but have to reactivate the phone thru itunes or at&t

Apple please tell us first then we could at least know not to rush to download the new software

personally I think this all has to do with the government, and ufo's

no seriously, I think it has to do with the latest iTunes update. That thing is a pile of garbage.

over under on how long it takes for a new version of iTunes? I say 3 days

im worried about trying to install this....Im looking for posts of people who aren't having any issues....and there doesnt seem to really be any.

So some of you guys just have your screen loading the "Accessing iTunes Store" for a long amount of time and some of use are getting the "Network Connection" error.
I'd feel better if mine just took forever to load instead of this error...

I apologize if this has been asked/answered...why does iTunes not see it the "traditional" way...my phone keeps trying to access the iTunes store before letting me access it like before.

It seems like a lot of people are getting this - I am.

I would love to see these "bricked iPhones" just from using Apple update. If mine bricked I would go to Apple store, tell them what happened and get a new iPhone for free. I had mine replaced and there was nothing really wrong with it. But that was back a few months. When Apple was all about customer service and good feeling around the iphone. Now that they are a phone company i bet all that good feeling stuff is out the window.

Question: What happens now if my 1st gen phone craps out on me, will they up me to a new 3G phone? I got my new replaced phone in March.

Why did you have it replaced if there was nothing wrong with it?

All good here in sunny Birmingham, UK!!!

D/l'd the update from iTunes at work, going home early to install it on my iPhone from my home Mac any second now!!!! :D

Is it...

Finally done???? It seems to be doing something! Everything updated... it's trying to reboot... waiting... waiting... come on... happy little :apple: symbol please.... :)

Hummm.... iPhone in the list again... nothing on the screen... iTunes says "Accessing iTunes Store" and the little bar is going... not sure what it's doing now???

Seems like too many people updating! Do you mind waiting your turn? I was here first! LOL! Okay, maybe you were here first too! :D

Come on... happy little :apple: now.... Crossing fingers.... I know you can do it! LOL! Must resist temptation to do anything... let it run it's course... have faith in Apple... have faith! LOL! No, no. no, don't click!!!! Don't do a thing! Hummm... well except type here! LOL!

Okay... had to click on the master button the iphone and see what is going on... says it's connecting to iTunes and "Slide for an Emergency"... Now is this an emergency? I want my 2.0!!!!!

More to come.....

Mine went through the "Accessing store" routine for about 15 mins, completed the install and activated.

...Now it seems to have to do it again before it will let me sync anything.

On a side note, I am sure there is much to love about 2.0, but two things that irritate me already:

- Why another contacts app? What was wrong with clicking the phone button? It just another icon that I can't get rid of and taking up space.

- "XYZ would like to use your current location Allow/Deny" What is this Vista?! Every single time you click camera/maps location this comes up! How irritating. I thought Apple was all about UI and experience, this just annoys me. I want to take a quick pic and bam "Do you want to allow the camera..."

You can turn it off in the menu, but then that defeats the point. Surely by having it turned on in the menu IMPLIES you want to use it without being prompted every time. Also on maps, clicking the Locate me button prompts you even if turned off on the menu. You would think clicking locate me would imply you wanted to be located. shocking. I can understand for other peoples apps... but offical apple ones?

Unless you don't need your phone for at least a couple of hours, I'd recommend waiting until tonight. I was too anxious and now I have no phone until I can "activate" my already activated phone.

I was getting really poor reception in my house, changed the sim card from At&T and then Apple was nice enough to replace the phone. Didn't really change anything. I still get crappy coverage in my house.

ATT sent a team to my neighborhood to check it out. They said "You have poor signal quality in your area, and we will do nothing about it!" Thanks ATT!!!!

Wouldn't want good coverage in a area of 5 million plus people, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
