As I see it, iTunes tries to send an activation request once per minute...That means we are probably in for a long long wait...I wonder why I upgraded my iPhone (it had the leaked firmware...)

Theres a post on apples forum saying there servers have shut down and there working on getting them back up. Be patient everyone, it'l be worth it when ya get it ;)

been stuck at accessing iTunes store for about 55 min. Its pretty clear now that Apple was in no way prepared for this update.

Perhaps I'll stick with my "early adopter" 2.0 from yesterday for a week or so since it seems no one can access the servers or reactive there phone if they manage to get it updated.

Are there any reports of this "Accessing iTunes Store..." activation issue at any Apple or AT&T retail stores? If we can't get in, they shouldn't be able to either. So, that should be causing a lot of backups in the lines on the East coast and in the Central timezone (US), right???

Also stuck on the 'Accessing iTunes Store...' while updating my first gen iPhone. Oh well, I'm not surprised. 2.0 firmware for 1st gen iPhone/iPod touch+new 3G iPhones=magic blue smoke coming out of Itunes' servers.:D

I'm going to leave it running. Going to bed since I've been at work all night. Hopefully I will awake to a bright eyed and bushy tailed iPhone.

i don't have any issues messing around the itunes store, my download of 2.0 is still occuring though, so we'll see once it gets there. Only 10 more minutes WOOOO HOOO

No offense, but jesus you guys-- get a life. It's all good though... I'll be waiting a few days to make sure 2.0 has no bugs or anything.

Well, I got it downloaded and installed but I'm having the problem where it cannot connect to the iTunes store (connection timed out). No doubt due to the excessive server traffic. So, my phone is dead for now, hopefully it will come to life sometime today :)

just a little patience .... there, that's better !!

So, alot of you are stuck trying to Accesses iTunes Store huh.

Excellent observation. Gee... ya wonder, with like a gazillion iPhones being activated today, and the ba-jillion previous iPhones being updated, not to mention... a couple dozen iTouches being updated too, that there would be a bit of a bottle neck or some hiccups along the way.

It's all a matter of having some patience... a day of two from now, everyone will have their updates, and then there will be all kinds of other things about the iPhone / Apps Store experience to complain about... just wait & see....

mine took less than 10 minutes to prepare...but overall, including download, I'm not at 25 minutes and counting. The last 10 plus at 'accessing iTunes Store'

sure hope this finishes before I have to take off for work!!!

45 minutes on and it swops between "1.1.4 is the current version" and, when it does recognise a newer version exists, "Cannot connect to iTunes Store"

hahahahahahah

Slashdotted by phones...

Not really funny, I'm stuck at "accessing iTunes store" for the last half hour.
Have to go to work soon.

OMFG how will I cope if my iPhone's not ready by then?????

Change your time zone!

I am in california--I tried repeatedly to download the 2.0 software...I changed my time zone, and turned off "Set date & time automatically" (not sure if this was needed) and the iPhone 2.0 Software became available immediately. I quit iTunes during this process too.

Others waiting, please try, and let me know if it works for you too.

I've been at the "Accessing iTunes Store..." for about 40 minutes now, so get ready for a long wait.
