So...

I think I will wait until I get home tonight after work and running some errands to download. At least my phone sees the update now. Maybe there won't be as many people trying to access the iTunes store and mobileme will be back up. But I am so ready to have the update!!!!

Finally got it updated but now getting the cant access itunes store error. So have a pretty paper weight at the moment.
Not very good apple, not very good at all :(

"Preparing iPhone software for restore" for about 10 minutes now, no progress.

Is that normal?

Yes. You're loading a big file. It's fine. Just be patient. Drink some more kool-aid. Btw, I'm in a pickle. I downloaded the early version yesterday.. but how to upgrade to the official one today? :O

I'm in the middle of the restore phase of installation. But, all seems to be going smoothly, 5 minutes in. Thankfully I downloaded some of the free Apps yesterday - so I won't get bogged down in the downloading spree.

No longer available

In Alabama I had the 2.0 available and I clicked learn more, then itunes store could not connect. I tried again but it just says that my ipod is up to date with 1.1.4

crap

Odd- mine went from saying there was an updadte but couldn't access itunes to saying 1.1.4 is the current version...

I'm now getting an Unknown Errir : -9838 when I try to connect the phone to the computer.

Just wanted to explain the whole build number thing for those who are paranoid about yesterday's file. Both releases are the same build version. Each time source code is compiled into binary files, they are assigned a build number. If you build again, you get a new build number. The fact that these two releases have the same build number means the files inside are literally identical. The difference is most likely that they simply repackaged the update. There was probably some extra files in yesterday's package that were not used, so they were able to remove them to cut down the size a little.

I'm happy with my update I did yesterday. I'm glad I missed out on all of the download and activation issues going on now. And (in hindsight of course) I'm glad to see it is indeed the same version as today's release.

If you don't believe me about what a build number is, then go ahead and waste your time restoring and reapplying today's package. In the end you'll end up with the same exact files on your phone.

I really wish I didn't bother with this but I can't quit now since I don't have a phone. I fully anticipate this to take up 13 hours

I've been at the "Accessing iTunes Store..." for about 40 minutes now, so get ready for a long wait.

So what happens if we need to cancel the 'accessing store' bit? Will it spanner the phone? I've been 'accessing store' for about 30 minutes here in UK.

9:00am ECT v2.0 became available.

Started prepping the phone @ 9:04am
Restored at 9:11am

been "Accessing ITunes Store" ever since..40mins and counting

I'm still waiting for mine to download, hopefully I can catch a break in the server, and cruise through installation. Has anyone gotten all the way through! PLEASE POST IF YOU'VE MADE IT START TO FINISH IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES.

The only difference I see in the "leaked" version of 2.0 and the one released today is that, the "leaked one is for both the iPhone, and iPhone3G....Whereas the one from today is just for the first iPhone

Getting a different error now:

We could not complete your iTunes Store request. A secure network connection could not be established.
Make sure SSL 3.0 or TLS 1.0 is enabled in the Internet Options control panel, then try again.

I just sort of successfully updated to 2.0. It restored all my music/txt/contacts/whatever back onto it but now iTunes is trying to access the store again.. I can just cancel this right? The phone itself has been updated to 2.0 and everything has been restored.

For comparison's sake...

I upgraded to 2.0 yesterday. Thought it'd be interesting to compare these with what today's looks like.
