Grr, what is it actually accessing the iTunes store for ?

It cant be dealing with that much data. (Obviously lots of connections but still)

iTunes 7.7 download pulled.

I got stuck waiting for my original iphone to call home after upgrading to 2.0. I uninstalled iTunes 7.7 and then went back to Apple's download site to download and reinstall. Guess what - 7.7 looks to have been pulled. I can't download iTunes at all right now. Link is broke.

Does anyone know if you actually need your old iphone on you to buy the new one.... mines been "accessing itunes store" now for over an hour

At 9 am EST the itunes part of the process went down... I'm guess when they started selling phones in the next time zone...so things are going to get really bad in about 5 minutes...

Edit:
I also still have a "bricked" 3G iPhone...

Weird, i checked now and it showed up then i clicked update and it reverted to the "Check For Update" button instead of "Update". I click check for update and now it says 1.1.4 is the latest.

Seriously you'd think a billion dollar company would buy more servers knowing they'd be releasing a few stuff. Everyone has been appalling i have to say, first MobileMe was up then down then up then down. Now this 2.0 software is following the same pattern. Also O2 cant get customers contracts because the system is down leaving them stranded.

Talk about service at its finest

Also iTunes 7.7 has been pulled as well. Way to go Apple...real smooth

A country where the 1st gen iPhone is not even officially supported! Only the 3g iPhone is.

I have a swiss iTunes account and yet I get the announcement (after clicking check for updates manually) that the 2.0 version is available.

I already have it sitting in my computer but didn't restore the iPhone to it. I have a ZiPhone unlocked and jailbroken 1.1.4. but I am on a newly officially supported carrier (Orange CH). So I wonder if 2.0 will brick my phone or somehow get that the carrier is officially supported and let me download it and activate it (only through iTunes, thinking I own a 3G iPhone, when in fact I don't).

Could someone confirm that if the carrier is officially supporting the 3G iPhone I can upgrade a 1st gen iPhone to 2.0 and then activate it?

Otherwise I have to wait until an unlock is available....

same thing here in Italy...
just waiting...
already downloaded the 2.0:D

Finally done???? It seems to be doing something! Everything updated... it's trying to reboot... waiting... waiting... come on... happy little :apple: symbol please.... :)

Hummm.... iPhone in the list again... nothing on the screen... iTunes says "Accessing iTunes Store" and the little bar is going... not sure what it's doing now???

Seems like too many people updating! Do you mind waiting your turn? I was here first! LOL! Okay, maybe you were here first too! :D

Come on... happy little :apple: now.... Crossing fingers.... I know you can do it! LOL! Must resist temptation to do anything... let it run it's course... have faith in Apple... have faith! LOL! No, no. no, don't click!!!! Don't do a thing! Hummm... well except type here! LOL!

Okay... had to click on the master button the iphone and see what is going on... says it's connecting to iTunes and "Slide for an Emergency"... Now is this an emergency? I want my 2.0!!!!!

More to come.....

I suspect many of us are going through the exact same thing (I am anyway). First part of the restore process went quite rapidly (maybe about 10 minutes on the outside) but the servers are probably overloaded by all the urgent requests for love. Like Jackson Browne said: California's shaking like an angry child will, who has asked for love and is unanswered still.;)

I also noticed that iTunes doesn't even recognize my phone, should I be concerned at all? I don't understand why my phone would have to connect to the iTunes store since I'm not activating it.

I am in california--I tried repeatedly to download the 2.0 software...I changed my time zone, and turned off "Set date & time automatically" (not sure if this was needed) and the iPhone 2.0 Software became available immediately. I quit iTunes during this process too.

Others waiting, please try, and let me know if it works for you too.

I'm installing now in CA.

Now iTunes tells me I need SSL 3.0 or TSL 1.0 to connect to the iTunes store but I'm pretty sure they're enabled...

I'm on a macbook with 10.5.4 and iTunes 7.7 and on the East cost of the USA

WHY ISN"T THE UPDATE COMING UP FOR ME

(I want to play super monkey ball, please help)

iphone crash?

Someone please help, my iphone(1st gen) wont connect to itunes or charge, i already did a reset that wiped all the data and still wont connect, does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do before taking it to an apple store (which the closest one to me is an hour and ahalf away) please help!!! thankss

Getting a different error now:

We could not complete your iTunes Store request. A secure network connection could not be established.
Make sure SSL 3.0 or TLS 1.0 is enabled in the Internet Options control panel, then try again.

i am now receiving the same error. it won't even try to access the store for more than 2 or 3 seconds.

How long was everyone at for "Preparing iPhone software for restore?"

That part took me 10 minutes.

Now I'm "accessing iTunes store" for 30 minutes and counting.

Have people just waited this out and had success?
