Anybody else getting a "The network connection was reset" error?

I can go into the itunes store and download apps but my iphone isnt finishing its restore...

Same problem I was getting but I JUST tried to connect again and its working now, its reactivating and restoring and its showing my firmware as 2.0 finally. I'll see if thats true when it actually finishes lol

Someone please help, my iphone(1st gen) wont connect to itunes or charge, i already did a reset that wiped all the data and still wont connect, does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do before taking it to an apple store (which the closest one to me is an hour and ahalf away) please help!!! thankss

This happened to me yesterday. My Macbooks USB ports stopped working during the install. I do not know if the installer caused the failure or not but try plugging in a usb flash drive. That's how I discovered my ports were the issue and not the phone. Restarting the computer fixed the issue for me.

Had the connecting to itunes screen. Ejected and reconnected phone about 6 times and it finally worked

The file is actually different though. The official one is smaller. and has a time stamp of 1 minute newer.

If you have the leaked version I would suggest waiting till all this mess is over with before restoring to the official version.

NOPE, today's is 1,1 YESTERDAY's was 1,2

He said his RESTORE file was 1,2 from TODAY!

That makes no sense.

And that link above is 1,2 ALSO! lol

So I'm not TOUCHING my 2.0 update from yesterday until this mess is completely sorted out!

I had about a 40 minute hold on the "can't connect to iTunes" front, but just now it connected and activated, and now my original 8GB is back in business...

Did you just let it try to connect for the full 30-45 minutes, or did you periodically stop it and start again?

I've been trying to connect for a full hour now, and I haven't stopped it once. Are connections served like a queue, with older ones being fulfilled first, or should I try to cancel it and try again?

I tried to connect every couple of minutes and eventually it connected. My phone is restored and activate now, it's syncing my music/videos now and I should be ready to go.

I got that, it was fixed in about 30 seconds.

2.0 Firmware Pulled again!

I just saw it go from 2.0 firmware being available for iPod Touch to 1.1.4 only being available....Can someone else confirm?

57 minutes and counting for me...

Over an hour now for me. Apple doesn't seem to understand how important it is for people to have a working PHONE. two examples

1) Why can't I just roll back my software from 2.0 so i can get a working phone? I thought this would be maybe a 30 minute process. I didn't think I'd lose my phone for the day. At least give us an escape route. They should now stop allowing downloads of the new firmware until the backlog of store requests clears.

2) I went my local Apple Store last month and was told the genius bar wait to get my broken iPhone serviced was 22 hours! The wait for a broken mac was only 45 minutes. (Guess I should have lugged my 24" imac with me for faster service). Why wouldn't the manager just shift some slots around to open up more for ipod/iPhone? I was seen in two hours after complaining repeatedly that a person's phone is more important than the ipod shuffles I was waiting behind, but it was not a fun experience.

I guess if I were smarter I would have ebay'd an old ATT phone so I'd have a reliable backup...

Got an error after lengthy "Backing Up" dialog

I tried getting official 2.0 twice this morning, and both times, there was a roughly 15-minutes "Backing up your iPhone" progress-bar, and then at the end of it, there was an error message saying "There was a problem backing up your iPhone. Do you want to continue? Continuing without backing up could result in a loss of all content on your iPhone".

Anyone else have the same problem?

For those getting -9398

This was posted in thet linked Apple discussion forum earlier and it worked for me.

In iTunes, alternately click between something in the iTunes store and your iPhone. Apparently this maintains an open session. As you keep that session open with activity you keep your place in the virtual line for re-activation of your phone after the upgrade. One user reported 10 minutes, took me less than five.

It could get ugly with server overloadedness as 8am Pacific time rolls around. Maybe I won't head out here first thing and see if I can get the new phone at my relatively not-busy AT&T store.

By the way, is 7.08 GB of available space normal for a first gen 8GB iPhone when it has been wiped?

"Error ocurred 9883" at activation time. iphone is not able to connect to iTunes. Any one is in the same situation? Is just iTunes server malfunction or something went wrong in installation time? Any ideas?

Apple Pulls a Vista!

Do not Download 2.0 and try to install. There is a problem!

yeah like not being able to download it, and now it says 1.1.4 is the up to date version again......

Other than that, I don't believe there is a problem with 2.0. Problems experienced now are only due to the extremely high amount of traffic to the store etc, frustrating but that's all. :apple:

Success!!!

Mine finally finished the restore after being able to connect to the iTunes store. was worried that it would reset back to 1.1.4 but after it rebooted and went to the home screen for a couple seconds before the sync, the app store was there like it should be. Now its just syncing everything from the backup
