Still getting the security alert with ssl or the other. Any suggestions on getting around this. i have changed it to one then the other and both and still get the same immediate error. it isnt even checking with the store anymore before erroring.

had the same thing too, its just another way to say that it can't connect, as long as it is enabled, just keep clicking between the iTunes store and iPhone, it will refresh the connection, it just worked for me, there's no need to continually eject and resync iPhone. It errored very quickly about 10 times for me, like you're saying, but I kept trying and it worked

How long did you all wait for "preparing iphone software for restore"?

mine has been at it for about 10mins...

yeahhhhh. finally chugging along.

New Problem - Hate Apple

Got past itunes problem ... downloading first app. Tried to sync to my iphone and it says I cannot sync because 'you are not authorized for it on this computer'

Apple is getting just like Microsoft - restrictions after restrictions ..... nickle and dime you after that

How do i get authorized for it ???

I hate to be mean or pour salt in a wound, but this is like karma for all those people who ridiculed people like me for not waiting and downloading the beta yesterday!

My iPhone is working fine w/ YESTERDAYS 2.0 build 5A347 ! :D

Read post #660.

Do NOT keep connecting/disconnecting your iphone.

Just click "OK" when it says it can't connect, then click on "Music" and then back to your iPhone icon. this worked for me after just about one minute.

For those getting -9398

This was posted in thet linked Apple discussion forum earlier and it worked for me.

In iTunes, alternately click between something in the iTunes store and your iPhone. Apparently this maintains an open session. As you keep that session open with activity you keep your place in the virtual line for re-activation of your phone after the upgrade. One user reported 10 minutes, took me less than five.

It could get ugly with server overloadedness as 8am Pacific time rolls around. Maybe I won't head out here first thing and see if I can get the new phone at my relatively not-busy AT&T store.

By the way, is 7.08 GB of available space normal for a first gen 8GB iPhone when it has been wiped?

WORKING

Kept getting the error message without it even trying to connect to iTunes. Hit iTunes store, then quickly click a link at random then clicked back to the iPhone. Now I'm getting the 'Accessing iTunes Store' everyone else is getting. Hopefully it'll queu for awhile instead of going straight to the error message. I didn't update yesterday

QUEUD FOR 1-3 MINS NOW SYNC IN PROGRESS!

COMPLETELY SET UP!!! Thanks man!

i had the same problem with the constant ssl tsl error...i closed out of everything (itunes, internet explorer) and then reopened itunes. the connection opened up immediately and began restoring.

mine sat there for about 10 mins too but eventually it went and did the entire restore but THEN it bricked itself and thats when the connection problems start that everyone has been writing about. It will work eventually, mine finally is syncing from the backup file with the new 2.0 firmware on it. No issues so far once you finally get past the connection problems

An hour and half long wait! And Im finally done! Clicked "M" then "I" and "enter" (to throw away the error msg, on itunes) repeatedly 70 times in a minute. *phew* Let me go brush my teeth now!:D

Anarchy!

one person flips out, the next goes nuts... then i push the panic button and dock / undock / dock / undock...

then i read the post about leaving it docked and clicking away from the iphone in the library and then back to the iphone...

IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY...

Thanks to the smart few that figured it out... and no thanks to the others that panicked (because I followed suit). Haha

edit: okay, it was working / activating, but then it stopped and i got a new error (-4 something)... panicking again.

EDIT edit: okay, I guess that error meant nothing. It's working now.

it finally went thru then apple says they are no longer accepting activations at this time try later!!

^^^^ ditto

No they didn't. This is far from pulling a Vista. This is much much worse. They messed up big time. They didn't prepare for this very well.

How exactly should Apple have prepared for a massive one-time event? Install a billion servers so you don't have to lose a few minutes of you oh-so-precious life? Please.

The slowdown is for the same reason that freeways aren't 200 lanes wide, or why there are 500 exit doors at the movie theater. If everyone waits their turn, everyone gets served.

Didn't your mother teach you any manners?
