Restoring Software

How long has it been taking once the download happens to get past the "RESTORING IPHONE SOFTWARE" part??? My progress bar seems to be stuck and I can't get out of it.

Suggestions?

I was also stuck at iTunes Store not responding dialog box this morning while trying to update. Unfortunately, I had to go to work before some of the remedies were posted so I'll have to wait until tonight to complete it.

For those of you saying, what did you expect?, everyone is trying to download at the same time, I'll say I have to side with the people that say Apple dropped the ball on this. No, installing a gazillion servers to handle a single day load spike probably wasn't the solution, but they could have at least written better software to handle the high load, like a dialog that says servers are under high volume right now, you've been placed into a queue for updates, and update a queue counter in real time. I've seen file servers do this and it works really well. Instead, we get cryptic messages worthy of Microsoft software.

how do I switch from my leaked version to the new version?

by reading the above posts....it's a cinch, shouldn't take you more than a minute or two and you'll be flying.......

honestly, read the boards before you post something please....

Ooops

Apple support--> discussions web site is off line and the We'll be back sticky is not happy.

iTunes error

Holy crap. I don't understand why people that have ALREADY activated their phones have to go through the process again. I've been trying for hours and I keep getting the iTunes unknown error. My phone has essentially been bricked. For all the money I'm paying them this thing should friggin work:mad:

ESSSpecially since they went through this process once already...they should have known what to expect and prepared for it!

before posting any more errors try searching this thread for that number or just look at a random page. there are so many repeats its unreal.

I'm stuck here.

crap it didnt show.. let me post again

Nope - hate to say it, but it is your fault if you really thought that in the first few hours of a major update like this that you'd be guaranteed to get software installed.

The fault of having a phone that isn't working is YOURs if you had a critical need for your phone today - then YOU SHOULD HAVE WAITED.

I suspect that you didn't NEED the 2.0 software today. You should have chosen to wait if you needed your phone working.

My iPhone has turned into a brick. It shows a USB cable that needs to be connected to iTunes. I cannot access the phone and cant get make or get any calls. When I connect my phone to iTunes, it shows the 9838 error message.

This happened when trying to update to 2.0.

This is happening to me as well.:(

this is total BS, it is no user's fault that apple's system isn't working and our phones are now bricked.

even though I can't get to the apple store on the computer, for some reason the iPhone has no problem accessing, downloading and installing new apps!!!

awesome!!!:D:D:D:D

This is BS

All this mess is caused by AT&T's greed and stupidity of Apple. Who in his right mind would release a Software update to a few old million of phones and try to activate a few other millions all over the world... ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

And btw, I am shocked that no one complained about the re-activation fee Greedy AT&T is charging people that about a year ago paid another $36. This is ridiculous!

Peace!

i hate to say this, cause as a fanboi i really don't like to get down on apple, but someone screwed the pooch on this one. Who's idea was it to do a mobile me launch, and iphone 2.0 launch, and the iphone 3g launch in 24 hours? Anyone know?
