Keep trying. It looks like people are starting to get through now.

Sorry to all those having problems! I was one of the lucky ones i guess. I got it all up and running in about 20 mins. Got the connecting to itunes error once, then she went. Hope they get this resolved soon for all you without a phone now out there. Apple should had been better prepared...

None I'm afraid other than being patient and going to apple.com/feedback and venting your anger as I just did.

It helps, although I'd rather have an iPhone and not an iBrick :D

NOw I am frustrated because I just started to look at the ITS every time I go to click back to iPhone and the App store is ALWAYS one the front screen with the monkey glaring at me ='[

I am going to have nightmares about this -

I close my eyes - this is all I see

Well, just like a person w/ a pimple or a scab or a wounded dog in need of a lampshade over its head, I went and did it against the advice of every other website except MacWorld...

I RESTORED my iPHONE from yesterday's 2.0 software to TODAY's new and improved BRICK 2.0.

Thank you Apple. NOT! :-(

I DO NOT RECOMMEND TRYING TO UPDATE ANY IPHONE TO 2.0 ANYTIME SOON!

Apple is obviously having LOTS of problems. I'm also officially now a BRICK 2.0 owner

Trust me, you WILL be sorry if you do what I did and you'll thank me later for waiting.

However, the iPhone does make for a very fancy iPaperweight like others have said.

And FYI: MacWorld.com is STILL giving out YESTERDAY's 2.0 firmware pretending it's TODAYS so if you downloaded from there, you probably have the WRONG firmware on your iPhone. MacWorld.com completely has its head in the sand, their editors say yesterday's and today's firmwares are the SAME! So beware.

Arn - thanks again:

I know some folks have reported 1,2...347 problems, but I, like many others, are chugging along just fine, and better still, WE HAVE WORKING PHONES TODAY and can afford to wait a few days to "downgrade" to 1,1 when the activation system levels out. Only "Arns Army" of gun jumpers are working today with v.2.0 phones. ;)

Ditto situation for me, tho it does seem a tad sluggish, some apps have crashed a few times (tho no hard resets) and Monkeyball sucks battery like nothing else!

Bad Situation

either nobody wants to help or they just dont know

I have EVERYTHING WORKING. i have my app store i have my bars i have my phone online everythin

but when i connect to iTunes it gives me the AiS screen and thats just stupid! i cant put any of the apps i already got on my phone now because its like broken... what do i DO?!

I'm glad I did the downloaded update link already. It was soo simple. And took hardly anytime to do. Sure it wiped out everything but the only thing I really lost was my webclips. And who cares about those.

2.0 and the app store is cool. But like I suspected I miss my jailbreak. Why can't you customize the phone. On 1.1.4 I had a new keyboard skin and new wallpaper and a 5 icon dock and new icons. It looked sweet.

Now I'm back into lockstep with the Apple dictatorship. Heil Steve.

Did anyone have a problem with iTunes saying they had to upgrade to 7.7 when they already had? That was my issue this morning, but I had to leave for work before I could get it resolved. I just want it to work when I get home!

Unbelievable!

Apple bricked my iPhone!!!

Tried to upgrade to 2.0 (before this thread said not to) and now I have a BRICK!

Apple has blown the intro this time. When I got my iPhone last year, I had no problems. Now I don't even have a phone anymore.

Thanks so much!

Not!!!

Try a free one from your App Store on your phone

This is neverending!!! 2.0 is on, but it has taken about 30 min to re-sync everything. I have to be out the door in 5 min, with or without this damn phone!

Even if you downloaded both of the two 2.0 version updates, you'll STILL end up with an iBRICK 2.0

Trust me. Mine was working fine w/ yesterday's 2.0, but I couldn't leave well enough alone and had to gamble and it did NOT pay off.

APPLE REALLY SCREWED UP TODAY! :(

I'm in the same boat.. 2.0 works, my contacts, music, movies are sync'd, but I can't access my phone through itunes. Weird. I'll just wait... Let me know if you have any luck.

btw- wtf is with this contacts button?

Umm, sorry to show no pity whatsoever, but I've been messing with this since 8:00am EST. It is now 1:30pm EST and I still have a non-functioning iPhone.

Nope!

I wonder if Apple and/or AT&T will do anything to compensate the throngs of users who lose phone service for what will end up being "extensive" periods of time? Apple and AT&T need to be held responsible and accountable for this debacle. Apple certainly fuels the upgrade fire to generate interest and sales. Wow, what a surprise, people respond! Attached to that effort is the responsibility to provide service to their customers who make a rather significant financial commitment to the company and product. Clearly, this is a real burden on the customer as well as a PR nightmare for both companies.

It will be interesting to see the spin put forth as a result of this memorable event!

Just got off the phone and they aren't giving out shuffles, or not any more...

asked directly so What is apple doing to compensate us?

"We aren't providing any compensation because then we would have to do it for everybody and that would be like millions of dollars."

nice. have to call my friends and tell them that one, oh wait that's right their contact info is gone. guess i should have memorized their number...

Please learn a lesson

Why is iTunes (yes, 7.7) still telling me that 1.1.4 is the latest version of iPhone software? It's been been 5 1/2 hours since the 2.0 version was released.

For being such a visionary company, it's hard to understand Apple's reasoning when it comes to this roll out.

Why wouldn't they release the 2.0 firmware on Monday and allow however many of the six million first generation iPhone owners who are out there to upgrade their device?

Then on Wednesday, roll out the MobileMe.

Then on Friday the decks are cleared for the 3G debut.

Instead, everything's packed in to this 48 hour worldwide premiere and you wind up overwealming servers, angering people and wasting their time.

Two words: plan better!

goddammit, stop calling your iphones bricked. they are NOT bricked.

bricked = a completely dead phone that has no functionality.

what you have is a phone you cannot use at the moment because it cannot activate through itunes. wait a few hours and it will eventually sync up and you will have a perfectly fine iphone.
