It's ALIVE! Again. After looking nice and doing very little for 4 hours. Hopefully now Monkeyball wont crash so much

I got an iPhone 3g today, upgrading from an old iPhone. I managed to activate it (at home), but it won't sync. I get the white screen with "iPhone" in the middle, and iTunes says it's "connecting to iTunes". No progress after 10 minutes. Anyone else have this problem?

I can't say I feel sorry for anyone who is having difficulties. You should have expected millions of people bogging down apples server today and if you really had somewhere to be in 5 minutes or whatever, don't upgrade the iphone and expect it to work in a blink of the eye.

Its funny how everyone has to get everything RIGHT NOW or else the world ends.

Chill people.

It's a phone. People need it for making phone calls and sending texts and sometimes you can't wait. That is what is pi$$ing me off, along with Apple's typical "everything is fine" arrogance in not explaining what is going on and when we can get our phones back!

Sheesh, this makes me really glad I ran the update yesterday. Even if it's not the right updater for the 1st generation iPhone, it still does the job just fine. I think I'll wait a while until I try to get the right update onto my phone.

My Iphone Is Activated And 2.0 Is Installed After 3 Hours, But Still No Info When I Go Iphone Tab On Itunes And It Still Says Accessing Server:(. Update Is Great!!!

Samsies =D

Although that is pissing me off because now I need to go through the on phone app store which is SLOW

Please read before posting! Everybody is having problems today...

Darn, sounds like I should wait to update my itouch.

My plane leaves in 2 hours and I really wanted to have the update for my trip. Not having mass delete email is a huge pain.

I am am not overfussed by having to wait mainly cos I downloaded the update from yesterday. But it I bought a 3G today I would be exceptionally pissed off, especially as Apple cranked up the hype then wasted a lot of peoples time. Admittedly not on purpose but an apology would go a long way rather than Apple just ignoring today and proclaiming it a success which is what will probably happen.

I downloaded (from the link posted earlier) TODAY'S release of the firmware. Has anyone tried updating their phone manually by pointing to this file? Any thoughts / opinions on what type of experience I'll have if I do that?

i know it's been said before, but it's not an itouch. it's an iPod Touch or MAYBE just Touch for short. for crying out loud...

Still happy on yesterday's 2.0...

Its not called an itouch? That's news to me.

But a name is a name- ipod touch, touch, itouch- I don't think anyone would be confused by what I was referring to.

I got it working in 10 mins.

I tried 3 times to no avail. I then unplugged my ethernet and changed to wireless, and it worked immediately.

It was probably just a miracle though.. :D

quit iTunes and start it back up and it should show the new version.

I have quit iTunes several times. I upgraded to 7.7 yesterday and have since restarted my computer as well. I wanted to manually reinstall it, but the link was taken off of apple.com!

Yesterday I had to take my iPhone in to an Apple Store. I took three tries to activate the replacement iPhone...

i wonder why apple never bothers to let us know what is going. I have a first gen iPhone and if i didn't read this forum I would have to call tech support... oh wait I can't I only have one phone...

grr, the only time i hate apple is at times like this.

...

Maybe it is all those fake iPhones from China... that is crashing the system

had left phone plugged in and went away. after 4 hours my phone is finally active

but

iTunes is still giving the accessing itunes store message so I can't sync my contacts or anything.

Attempting to search to see what I can come up with..
