I really really really REALLY hope the Mail bugs are fixed, as on MacBook Mail is unusable with multiple IMAP servers. If its not the "can't connect" fake problem then its the new Mail hangs trying to open local mailboxes and must be force quit multiple times a day. I'll update and cross my fingers...

I mean the new MacBook is barely good enough for Mail/web and if Mail is broken then I just have a thin cool looking light paperweight? :)

And no it is STILL NOT FIXED. DAMMIT.

Sorry I am just losing patience here. Mail froze on the first launch after update and has to be force quit. Again.

Personally I wish they would replace dock icons with iOS ones, i slavishly remake all mine as i hate the current flat ones and I see no reason to clone apps and then have icons that don't match AT ALL!

Personally, I can't stand iOS-style dock icons for OS X.

Dangit. With every OS update I keep hoping my internal DVD superdrive will be restored to its glorious, functioning, pre-Mountain Lion status. Alas, this update does not do it. Same old thing: insert disc, hear a few chugs, then the disc is spit out.
That isn't a software problem; the drive has failed, or the lens is dirty.

It's probably broken.

There isn't a separate link for safari 8.0.8 for yosemite because it is part of the os x 10.10.5 update.

I should point out that a full installer is also available on the mac app store and if you haven't got yosemite yet it would be a good idea to get this now to make a bootable usb for 10.10.5 because soon yosemite will completely disappear from the mac app store altogether once el capitan is released.

You might not need it yet. But when mavericks disappeared when yosemite was released people complained about the lack of availability of it and resorted to getting it through torrents instead. This is not desirable.

So basically even if you don't need it yet, I'd say get yosemite the legitimate way - WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

Sure you're not having a DVD hardware-related issue?
Got a Mac Pro '08 by any chance?

Your drive is probably broken. I bought an external Memorex DVD burner for $15 and swapped my internal drive for an SSD. Best decision I've made.

For the record I've been running El Cap on my laptop for a few days and it's been pretty stable so far. It also feels faster than Yosemite, so it's like a win win.

Well if you say this, given you're probably one those hidden community manager, I do not trust it. Yet, El Capitan needs to fix the unacceptable lag, freeze, bugs and whatnot issues that comes packages with all updated AND new Macs (like my 2015 Macbook Pro and some others I know).

My 2015 MacBook Pro is running very smooth, fast and stable on 10.10.4.

Therefore I'm too busy getting my work done, enjoying it's bug free performance to dare touch it.

Besides I'd rather wait and see how the reports read here, and what this latest rev is like before taking any chances. If this was a home computer I wouldn't hesitate, but being mission critical, I'm appreciating the best performance in a long time.

Thanks Apple... :D

You're using sarcasm on the wrong board friend.

I really can't wait for El Capitan though, This is probably much more stable than that will be. I feel like apple fixed so many things with yosemite i hate to take a step back from this 10.10.5 in a few months.

Those icons are beautiful! Well done!

Does this fix the recent browsers (all included) vulnerability that install adware highjacking your links to display spam/scam ?

I'm not going to ask if it fixes all the laggy performances.

Another vote for Combo Update.

I wonder if they've finally fixed the bug which they've introduced in 10.10.3, which caused some of the systems with Intel 4000 graphics to get random kernel panics ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7000724 ). The only solution I've found was to disable the auto graphics switching in the power settings, so now the system is using the dedicated GPU instead of Intel's.

I've never understood the wait for the Combo Update unless you aren't running 10.10.4. For me Delta Updates have always worked fine.

That sounds like a hardware fault. I have seen many optical drive fail that same way. Optical drives have always been notoriously unreliable, at least the slot loaders.

Is that really a vulnerability? I thought Adware was always just a staple of computing that needs to be removed with something like Adware Cleaner.

There's a very recent brand of adware that bypasses browsers and plugins and installs malicious component that highjack all browsers, and so far the Adware Cleaner I've tried couldn't fix it.

Very slow for me also, so much so I cancelled the DL and will wait. Servers must be taking a hammering?

It predicted 4 hours for me on my 200 Mbps connection. I downloaded the combo update instead, which finished in 2 mins.
