Funny thing how they keep stating how stable it is however I've been getting numerous e-mails from Native Instrument, Steinberg, Slate Digital, and Gobbler all advising the same thing: NOT TO UPGRADE. At least not at this moment until all the bugs and fixed and patched. So unfortunately I won't be upgrading for a while until I know without a doubt I won't have any issues having Logic Pro X trying to authorize my AU plugins and VIs and have it freeze up or crash. Just a heads up for all music producers, composers, etc.

Those companies have had access to the El Cap betas for months. I don't understand why their stuff isn't ready on release day.

Downloaded complete for my iMac and MacBook Pro. Installation is running now on both machines. 10 min left.

Looks like Apple goofed up. When I try to download El Capitan manually it gives me an error that there "isn't a server with such hostname."

Apple pls.

So you have upgraded to today's release of El Capitan and all of the 5.5 Adobe programs are running fine? Did you have to do anything to get them running fine or did you just upgrade and open them?

If you're that worried you could just not update to El Capitan, and wait to see if people start complaining. Check an Adobe/graphic designer forum for complaints.

Imagine walking into their Cupertino offices and asking Apple for a hard copy of El Capitan because it would be faster than downloading... That would be interesting :D

Don't bloody tempt me. ;)

EDIT: 44 minutes to g... wait.. back up to 2 hours.

Because Apple won't tell developers (except maybe a couple that will be appearing on stage) what is fixed and good to go and what may still have significant changes in beta before final release. I personally have tried it a couple of times and got bit really bad. Lots of wasted time. Until Apple changes its policies, it is better for the developer to just wait until final release and let users suffer. Thats the way Apple wants it and it is no use trying to fight the big dog.

Apple today released OS X 10.11 El Capitan to the public, making the newest Mac operating system available for free to Mac users around the world. OS X El Capitan went through eight developer betas before the golden master version of the software was released on September 9.

OS X El Capitan is still rolling out to users, but it can be downloaded using the Software Update function in the Mac App Store, and it will run on all Macs capable of running OS X Yosemite. Here is a direct link for the update: OS X El Capitan.

As an update complementary to OS X Yosemite, as the OS X El Capitan name suggests, the new operating system builds on the features introduced last year. OS X El Capitan focuses on improving user experience and performance.

OS X El Capitan looks like OS X Yosemite, but it includes a new systemwide font, San Francisco, and it introduces a new Split View option for Mission Control, allowing two full-screen apps to be used side-by-side. El Capitan includes an improved Spotlight Search and several new app features. Safari, for example, has gained Pinned Sites and a universal mute button, while Mail has new iOS-style smart suggestions.

Photos in OS X El Capitan supports third-party photo editing extensions from Mac App Store apps, Notes has new features, and Maps includes Transit directions. Under-the-hood improvements in El Capitan also make a number of apps and processes on the Mac faster, and the introduction of Metal makes system-level graphics rendering 40 percent more efficient.

Discussion of El Capitan's new features is also taking place in our OS X El Capitan forum, and we encourage all of our readers to join in with questions and new discoveries.

Not this time! I went through at least six months of hell at my busiest time of the year with Yosemite. That whole internet or lack thereof situation, all the problems with mail, still gives me nightmares. And in spite of the lightening not striking twice etc.,etc., no way José am I am touching this so fast.

Thanks. That is what I'm doing until someone gives me a confident "all clear" on those 2 software packages. One can't fully judge by complaining posts because those can often be complaints aimed at many different things. I believe the fundamental idea of this kind of website is to make it easy for people to help each other out through communication, not to just rah rah or bash Apple/Samsung/Microsoft/Google, etc. Often one can ask these very kinds of questions around here and get definitive answers from others who know from direct experience.

Besides, this is a brand new release of OS X. Complaints will come pouring in but finding the few that would answer my very specific questions would likely prove difficult.

Yikes! Finished install.. screen went blank, then my mac made a weird 8-bit sound I never heard it make before.... then finally rebooted and got stuck rebooting. then the screen flashed white and then the rebooting screen came back. Now all of a sudden I am seeing progress... About 10 minutes remaining it says. I'm just sitting here patiently letting my mac do its thing. sigh

I had a Google at what happened with Yosemite and it seems that the GM Candidate is most likely considered by Apple to be the final release to all intents and purposes (aside from build number) and once 10.11.1 is out we'll be brought onto the same update path and have the same build number from then on.
