Does it update Finder so I don't get the spinning rainbow beachball of death just when doing trivial things like moving through some files in a folder ? hope so. Finder is such a dog.

Same here. Also when opening finder from within any application the dialog box stretches the entire height of the screen. Hope they fixed that too.

Well, it looks like Apple's servers took the day off today. Both El Capitan, iOS 9.0.2 AND Safari 9.0 won't download, not even via iTunes in iOS's case. The Mac App Store also likes to think I installed Safari 9.0 about 15 times or so while I'm still typing this very post from 8.0.8.

Oh well. Tomorrow's another day.

Downloaded just fine for me... East Coast here... Had a netflix movie playing at the same time

Why is this website reporting that El Capitan has been released today when it clearly hasn't on the Apple main site and it most definitely has not been released in the UK. Can anyone shed some light please?

Trying to get in early in hopes of someone delivering the answers...

Could anyone verify with certainty:
  • Will it run Adobe CS 5.5 programs with no issues?
  • Will it run Pages '09 with no issues (especially the DTP side functionality)?
Earlier betas had some trouble with these and I'm wondering if these are working now or if 10.9.5 or maybe 10.10 is the last OS for those 2?

For those who want to come back pitching upgrades, I need Pages 09 for the DTP side of that program (something the "new" and "improved" version of Pages can't match). And I'd rather keep using Adobe 5.5 than get on the subscription program for Creative Cloud.

I have heard that Yosemite will run both with no big issues. Can anyone on the final incarnation of Yosemite confirm that too?

Thanks for any reliable answers.

Edit: made corrections to the latter question about Yosemite

Yep. I am running the 2015 CC quite but I still have CS5.5 installed and everything runs fine for me on my 2011 MBP.

Can anyone tell me if there has been a fix for Mail from the GM to final release?
Since I went to the GM, Mail has been a nightmare...I don't know if it's Mail or the Gmail servers, but they can't seem to synchronize, send mail, consistently get mail, or basically do anything right any more (not that they did a great job before, but it would be nice if they didn't go backwards with an update...)

Not sure if this will ring true for anyone else. On my Macbook pro that was taking ages to download the OS from the app store while my iMac already had it downloaded and installed. I paused the download and then un-paused it. The download is not going at a much faster pace. It's literally took a few minutes when before it was looking at around 30 minutes. Just got the notification it's ready so I am off to install it on my Macbook.

Hey! back to 3 hours for me! I could drive to Cupertino and back faster than this will take, and the bandwidth I have at work is short of an OC-12 line.

So you have upgraded to today's release of El Capitan and all of the 5.5 Adobe programs are running fine? Did you have to do anything to get them running fine or did you just upgrade to El Capitan and open the Adobe 5.5 programs?

I know it's stupid but I really need that split view feature for my work...!!! *come on el capital!!*

I have it in the App Store but it isn't downloading. I rebooted 3-4 times and tried again but it isn't even responding.

Probably because of the high traffic at this moment.

I have no idea what the differences are between this an yoesemite lol. But I will get it anyway.
Simply read the OP:
OS X El Capitan looks like OS X Yosemite, but it includes a new systemwide font, San Francisco, and it introduces a new Split View option for Mission Control, allowing two full-screen apps to be used side-by-side. El Capitan includes an improved Spotlight Search and several new app features. Safari, for example, has gained Pinned Sites and a universal mute button, while Mail has new iOS-style smart suggestions.

Photos in OS X El Capitan supports third-party photo editing extensions from Mac App Store apps, Notes has new features, and Maps includes Transit directions. Under-the-hood improvements in El Capitan also make a number of apps and processes on the Mac faster, and the introduction of Metal makes system-level graphics rendering 40 percent more efficient.

Imagine walking into their Cupertino offices and asking Apple for a hard copy of El Capitan because it would be faster than downloading... That would be interesting :D
