Don't forget to re-enable TRIM on your SSD drives, the upgrade most certainly turns TRIM support off (as upgrades always have, that's not a change).

Just to clarify. You are talking about non-Apple disks correct ? Because my nMP PCI-e SSD still shows it enabled.

Same, my main issue is copying files from rMBP to WDTVLive, frequently it copies then "cannot copy as file in use"

Im a recent switcher so I probably have other issues I don't know about!

AHA!

Last beta installed correctly, the 2 before that hanged halfway, had to manually go to the /Library/Update folder and install them, this did the trick.
But, this one again didn't install through software update, downloaded the combo, this one hanged as well.
Then I located the delta (last-13D65) updater as before and it installed correctly, the difference is that the delta's which I installed directly installed the software in place without going into the grey screen with the installing window in it.

It seems like something is preventing the install to go ahead, something like a background process which prevents a restart.
The good news is though that if I do it manually I can re-enable Trim support just after the install, then restart instead of restarting twice.

I also have the User folder hidden after the install, multiple users, root enabled.
Easy to unhide it again though.

Is it just me, or is my display calibration bluer after this update? I'm not sure, I just noticed that everything had a cooler color.

not really, but...

You really think the NSA gives a crap what porn sites you visit ?

Well, my personal mode of consumption is totally normal. But "abnormal" people in important political positions are of course vulnerable to blackmail. And so the lack of freedom of a political system begins. We had countless examples in Europe within the former GDR and elsewhere.

I'm more worried about my girlfriend than the NSA :D

Does it make Mail usable again?

No change for me. Mavericks has been - and remains - a disaster for Mail.app.

For the doubters who want a list of specifics because their email happens to work, I'm not here to contradict your skepticism (based on your massive sample size). I work with hundreds of users and continue to see many problems unique to Mail.app 10.9.x.

hope this fixes the slow shut down that developed after I installed the 10.9.2 version

I want to use Safari as my main browser so bad. On 10.9.2 I didn't have this bad of lag and website freezing. I've had to copy this post twice now just to get it to submit.

I guess I'm going to have to use Chrome again even though it uses more battery.

So jealous... :D

Are you getting 60Hz? Any lag?

I think you made the right choice in displays. There are larger 4K displays but this one has the highest pixel density, double the usual 24" ones.

This will probably be the display to get for 2014. It's unknown if the current nMP or the 15" rMBP would be able to drive a pixel doubled 5120 x 2880 (2560 x 1440 'native') display.

If there is any lag, then I would say it's exactly the same as Retina Display on Macbook Pro. There is always an overhead of Mac OS X implementation of scaling everything to 2X resolution and then scale it back. So I can tell the difference using a external monitor but not retina is faster or smoother but once using retina, which resolution that I pick won't have a significant performance difference. But well, that mostly based on my experience on OS X 10.9.2. I need to use more on OS 10.9.3 and maybe the newer display driver and more optimization has been implemented.

Multiple local user accounts here. My primary is an admin account as is one of the others. The remaining 3 are standard user accounts.

/Users hidden here on upgrade to 10.9.3

I wonder if having root enabled counts as a user?

(I ain't going near this thing...I don't like Mavericks as it is. :))

What kind of graphics chip is in your MBP ? Mine does native 3840X2160 @ 60Hz. on the same Dell display.

I think is nothing to do with graphic chip. I think once you upgrade to 10.9.3, you might lost the ability to run your Dell monitor at 3840x2160 60Hz like 10.9.2 But don't worry, 10.9.3 always using every single pixels from 3840x2160. The OS just tell the app it run lower resolution such that the GUI looks bigger.

The Dock indicator lights have been changed - they're more visible now. Less glow to them.

Hmmm... they do seem a bit easier to see now.

Strange. Never had any issues with Safari. Currently using 7.0.4 Seed 1 and still smooth.

Try if resetting Safari helps, or log into a different User (or make a new User) and try if that makes a difference.
If it works better within a new User Account the your normal User Account seems to be the problem.

When i tried to install 10.9.3 it said there was multiple users logged in and to log them out. The thing is it's just me who's logged in - i don't have any other accounts set up. I clicked restart again and it worked. Strange.

HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 are identical in hardware spec. It´s only a matter of updating the code to enable 2.0 on nMP & rMBP. Why not do so with 10.9.3 which focuses on improved 4k support? Anyway, if someone can check let us know. A lot of people are curious.

How can HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 are identical in hardware spec? I think you mean the cable maybe the same. But the HDMI controller has to be differences in order to support at least 2X more data.

Also HDMI 2.0 isn't supported by any computer hardware as far as I can tell. Not AMD, not nvidia and not intel. And all the latest 4K montiors is still using HDMI 1.4 instead of 2.0

Can you check the status bar?

I upgraded this afternoon and I noticed a strange cosmetic bug.

I have status bar turned on in finder. The prior OSX version correctly stated the available free space on my hard disk. The new upgraded version now incorrectly says the full size of this partition is free. Is this the case for anybody else?
