I think my Apple ID is tagged to allow for public betas. I can't find a way to download it - tried Mac App store under Purchased and Updates. Tried CMD + R. No luck.

Build 15A282a. Playing around with it, the only differences I've spotted compared to the beta are the added setting to disable pre-release updates in System Preferences > App Store, and the "Beta" suffix gone from version in About This Mac.

build 15A282a installed.....

Same here, why are we getting the "a" build instead of the "b" build? I also got a prompt for Feedback Assistant, did we end up getting a beta instead of GM? I did mine through the App Store purchases tab, as I did the public beta and got that email.

Can anyone confirm the PB GM Candidate 1 is the same build as the DB GM Candidate 1?

It seems Public Beta = 15A282a, Developer = 15A282b. The one letter difference is probably only there to distinguish the releases.

I'm still downloading it. Do you recommend creating flash media to install it or just do it from the image file?

It's not an image file. It ends up as an App. I saved mine to my Files hard drive and ran it from there. Both times. I work in 10.10.5 and checked my eMail after installing on my 10.11 partition and followed the link to the dev site and reDL'd the installer in case I got a wonky one from the app store. It found the app on my other HD and reinstalled over it. And it ran just as the other one did. Except this one was dated today, instead of June 6 like the first one said.

The last installer I used shows version 15A283

El Capitan 10.11 GM have bugs too...

1. When you open a big picture(2000x4695) via original preview application, then full screen you'll see nothing. Yes!!! See "Nothing" ,where is my picture ?

2. El Capitan 10.11 GM makes my workplace's wifi can't connection. it's fine until I update from 278 to 282a ...

Where can i see the build number ?
It's not showing in the about this mac.

Do any of you with the GM candidate know if you can still turn rootless/system integrity protection off?

I'm half way through a game which I'm emulating using Wine, which doesn't work with rootless. In the betas you could turn it off by running 'csrutil disable' from the terminal in recovery mode, but I remember reading that Apple were going to force rootless in the public release.

Hello, I have tried a few OS X betas in the past, and had relatively few issues (besides a few corrupted files during a prior and far less stable El Capitan beta). But, I'm now in a rather interesting situation.

In a momentary lapse of concentration, I didn't notice which volume the GM candidate was actually going to be installed to until it was too late. Now my main disk has the GM candidate installed, instead of the intended external disk.

Now I'm kinda concerned. Maybe I'm just being a worrywart, but I am a little concerned about my personal data.
This build seems stable enough, but still I worry.

I am curious as to whether anyone with more expertise than myself considers this build 'good enough' for daily use. I'd rather like to avoid having to futz around trying to revert the disk to Yosemite.

Yes, Apple consider it good enough for daily use. This is not a beta, this is the GM, which is a version that Apple believes is going to be the final publicly released version. Hope that gives you some comfort.

You have to go to Mac App Store and select purchase section there you will see OS X El Capitan GM Candidate, download whole 6GB file from there

You shouldn't have to download any future versions as the GM will normally just update to the next version as expected (that is, when 10.11.1 comes out it will just show up for you as a normal update).

You can still create a bootable USB drive using the same method that's been available since Mavericks. Guide here tells you how (obviously change the 'Mavericks' bit to the relevant ElCap ones)...

Adobe Illustrator doesn't work for me with Developer GM (15A282b). Worked for me with DP8 (was broken at the beginning for me with I think: DP2-4 don't remember excactly, worked for the last ones).

Can somebody confirm? Or should I search for the problem at software, not system level?

Also since the update today my incoming Yahoo IMAP for 3 Yahoo accounts doesn't work (SMTP, outgoing works), but I really think, this is just a coincidence and has to do with the yahoo servers... Need to try t Don't think, its a systemlevel thing...

If somebody is interessted: I also downloaded the installer of the Public Beta GM (15A282a) and I noticed 2 differences: 1: The X Icon war grey in PB GM, whereas it was colorful in Developer GM, and the filesize was different: 6.014.089.292 Byte for Public, 6.071.584.835 Byte for Developer, so 55MB difference. There is also a difference in the version of the file: PB 1.7.17 vs DP 1.7.27 . See in the screenshot...

I did not install PB GM, so I can't report on differences after the install...

SSD for me also. I had to go into restore mode and reinstall OSX

I too see the El Cap GM candidate in the MAS Purchased tab.

Can anyone please confirm if it's safe to DL the GM candidate and upgrade the main system install from Yosemite to El Cap? Yes, no, or should I wait for the official release?

Installed GM over previous beta on Macbook Pro with success , but then I tried my MacMini with laterst Yosemite and its a total crash , several restarts and kernel panis , which have been reorganised into restart again and so forth . Now im at recovering from Time Machine . So I would suggest to wait !

That...is actually the old Public Beta installer.

The Public GM Candidate I downloaded, had a coloured icon and identical filename to the developer installer you have there.

I use Illustrator cc 2015 and it works fine with GM 15A282a.
