so when is the release date???

From past experience, Apple doesn't like to release everything at the same time. My theory is that iOS 7 will be released in September and later the new iPhone (The usual complaining will be posted about the new iPhone here on September 10th). My guess is that Mavericks will be released 2 to 3 weeks before the new iPad and the iPad will be at the end of October and Mavericks near the beginning of October. The new Mac Pro will most likely be launched in November.

If Mavericks comes out later then that meant that it still had some beta issues that had not been resolved yet.

iCloud Contacts Not Syncing???

Has anyone had any problems with getting contacts to sync from your Mac up to iCloud and down to devices? This hasn't been working since DP1 for me.

I'll add a contact on my Mac, from my iCloud account...it won't sync up to iCloud.
I can add a contact from iCloud.com or beta.icloud.com and it will sync down to my mac and iOS 7 devices.

Anyone else? For fixes I've deleted all information from my mac, signed out of iCloud, restarted my Mac, re-signed into iCloud...same behavior.

I really don't get adding Maps into the OS though. Theres no need to do that. If people want it, add it as a downloadable app for goodness sake. Don't bloat it onto the OS.
Maps is part of a larger framework being used by OS X, its apps and most likely future third-party apps. I don't mind Apple including a lightweight frontend so we can use it for regular searching purposes as well. Personally I really don't see how including a small app is adding bload to the OS. It's not like we still have to make do with a 20 MB HDD and 256K of memory... If you don't use Maps you won't notice it's there.

I'm still on snow leopard, but I'm contemplating upgrading.
I would say, Mavericks is so far the closest they got to SL. It mostly does what I want.

Except for Versions.

But as long as iCloud exists, this will not go away. Even if you click that little checkbox in system preferences.

They don't upgrade those with the OS betas

Except that they did with DP5 ;)

Not sure if it was updated or not, but version number is 9.4.6 (901.26) on DP6.

Maybe iPhoto will be bundled with Mavericks... I wonder why it's even in the App Store, I mean they give it away with all mac purchase anyway

Overall I get the impression that DP6 is running more smoothly and stable than DP5 and that some of the bugs have been solved.
If you are interested to read the release notes, I posted them on my blog site :)

Safari is crashing or freezing on me when I use the back gesture on the Track Pad or Magic Mouse. This is Extremely annoying.
Anyone else having this problem?

Reading through this it sounds like DP6 is very either smooth and nice or worse than previous DPs for people? how come there is no consistency?

But DP6 broke airplay mirroring!

Apple need to release a hotfix for this pronto!

No they don't!

It's a Developer Preview. If somethings broke, report it to Apple and they will fix it for the next preview… If it was a GM or final Public release then yes, but not for a DP

Mavericks is the best OS X release I have ever seen and I've been using Macs since Panther (10.3).

It is very evident that they did some major work on performance and responsiveness because everything is much more... swift. It is also very stable, I'm using it as my main OS since DP2. The multi display functionality is a god sent to anyone who has more than one monitor. I recommend you seriously consider upgrading when it is released to market.

There is a way to fix that. I'm guessing you migrated the same user account to all three MacBooks? Google is your friend.

You are incorrect in that assumption. I've never migrated users; I prefer a clean slate. Thanks for the heads up about google. I've never heard of it.

OS X (Sarah Palin Edition)

I can't think of anything but that every time I hear the new name. I will be looking forward to trying it on my 2 macs. I hope the word takes on a new meaning for me, or I'm going to start getting all Mavericky.

iOS 7 and Mavericks share several new features. They'll be out within days of each other, if not at the same time.

theoretically - I agree, but...

worked in DP5, broke in DP6, no changes noted in release notes. We can't test this other than to say what's already been reported.

It's up to Apple if they want to wait until the next DP to get any feedback - they could wait, or they could also articulate what the base requirements now are to get this to work.

it's a feature highlighted on their webpage for Mavericks - it likely didn't get out the door not working (even for a DP).

OS X Mavericks isn't ready for prime time yet and shouldn't be used on production machines or in other situations where you have to rely on a stable system. It's that simple.
