The new one looks too small compared to the other icons, imo:

My widgets are all still there... you sure it's not a bug for you?

The grey Apple logo in the menu bar looks really off compared to the black menu text :/

The settings icon is the same height as the ichat icon. It's the rounded rectangular bounding box that is off putting, relative to the other icons. Open the triple gear out of it's casing and scale it up a bit to match the ichat and it wouldn't look so diminished

Well, I kinda hoped the dark theme makes it to one of the developer previews. But it looks like you are right..

Heck the settings still have the legacy AQUA Blue or Graphite options. I was hoping they would update that with the dark theme but I guess we have to wait a bit longer.

Cannot get JDK8 to install

It seems that JDK has small problem with its comparison operators.

Dark Mode

How to enable a preview of Dark Mode on Yosemite DP2:

Open a terminal:

copy and paste : /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences AppleInterfaceTheme Dark

Have fun ;)

Hey, so I installed DP1 when it first came out and am trying to update to DP2. The install has downloaded fully and asked to restart so I clicked yes. However it has stuck here and not gone any further. I have tried quitting and clicking 'Update' again and again but it isn't doing anything. I also have restarted, reset the SMC and PRAM (just because its easy :p) but it hasn't changed. Anyone else having this issue?

Oh and where it shows all the recently installed updates, there are many, many DP2s that say they have installed but haven't..

I assume you are a developer and have access to apple's developer forums.

There is a direct link in those forums from which you can download the DP2 delta update in a browser instead of the mac app store.

Other developers are having similar problems and this direct link solves the problem.

We can't post the link here on macrumors though.

Shouldn't it be: sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences AppleInterfaceTheme Dark

How would you undo this after

Switch "Dark" to "Light"

----------

did that work for you the one mentioned before your sudo version didnt for me

no, it did not but apparently I have not successfully installed DP2 update yet via the Mac App Store, just installing the update which I downloaded from Dev Forums via Direct link. Ill try it in a minute after the update finishes.

EDIT: yep, it works after I finished installing DP2 update. Not sure it's usable at the moment.

Geez people. Just use Disk Utility to create a second partition on your internal drive, then put the test OS on it. When you're finished with it, and/or they come out with a stable enough version for your production drive, just erase the test partition and bring it back into the fold. Pretty simple stuff.

That's assuming that you can, or that it's practical.

My rig consists of a (beloved to the point of death) 17" MBP with 2 750GB spinners in RAID 0 (took out the optical drive). I'm not too sure that you can re-partition the RAID setup. I also have a Mid 2012, maxed-out iMac 27".

Regardless, if you're techie enough to create a secondary (or more) partition, then you have a spare drive lying around somewhere (I know, I'm assuming too).

This also introduces flexibility, as you can test out the release with different machines, and not have to do a damn thing to your existing, pristine systems. Just hold the Option key when booting and select your external.

Pretty simple stuff indeed.
