The new (lack of) animation is weird... :/

The UX doesn't seem to be refined nor optimized much as of yet, I do expect things to change quite rapidly over the next few weeks in this apartment so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

Apple has always been market leaders when it comes to smart and successful use of animations and tricks to make UI navigation and idle time seems much more fluid. I highly doubt they'll toss that out of the windows in 2014.

DP2 on my 2012 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display, and iOS 8 Beta 2 on my iPhone 5s---

-Handoff is now working between the two.

-Calls placed within Yosemite ring on the other end, but if the recipient picks up, nothing happens, it just disappears from my screen and the call ends.

-No SMS from iMessage.

-Generally more smooth but still getting pretty low FPS on Mission Control.

No sms for imessage? I've successfully sent SMS messages on my MacBook.

Yeah guess so, they've got quite a lot of work to do, but I'm sure they're up for it :p

The new one looks too small compared to the other icons, imo:

My widgets are all still there... you sure it's not a bug for you?

The grey Apple logo in the menu bar looks really off compared to the black menu text :/

There's so little distinctiveness in those icons. A brief glance shows a bunch of blue circles that all seem mostly the same.

I prefer this lighter grey to the darker one used for all the other title bars.

Same, the one used in the other bars reminds me of Mavericks too much... if they're gonna do a major UI change, they might as well go all out on it rather than keeping elements from the past which don't fit with the new look.

There's still another 3 or 4 months until release though, so they could still change it.

oh.... too bad I kinda liked the stars in Time Machine... now it's just boring to look at.

Hey, so I installed DP1 when it first came out and am trying to update to DP2. The install has downloaded fully and asked to restart so I clicked yes. However it has stuck here and not gone any further. I have tried quitting and clicking 'Update' again and again but it isn't doing anything. I also have restarted, reset the SMC and PRAM (just because its easy :p) but it hasn't changed. Anyone else having this issue?

Oh and where it shows all the recently installed updates, there are many, many DP2s that say they have installed but haven't.. (see attachment)

It's just a cleaner/faster way to code right?

Oh, Swift does have a number of features that can provide a performance boost over 'vanilla' Objective-C, especially when your application needs complex data structures. But Objective-C also has access to potentially faster C or C++ code patterns, and a competent programmer should be able to use them efficiently. I'd say that Swift makes it easier to achieve good performance if you are a beginner/intermediate programmer.

It used to trigger the dedicated GPU in my late 2013 rMBP. I'm hoping that this change stops that from happening.

The old Time Machine effect, while cool, was really jarring as a departure from the overall OS design. The new style does mesh a lot better.

Search on the web for Time Machine screen saver... I think it will still work.. Then you can have it full screen and amazingly fun to look at :)

Does anyone use the Exchange services to sync e-mails, contacts and calendar events?

Does it work? CPU usage -> back to normal?
