After upgrading to DP 5, I see app switching has become very sluggish. Whenever I switch apps (doesn't matter if it's via keyboard or by clicking a window), it takes good 5 - 10 seconds before the app becomes active. This happens every time. When that happens, I also see the spinning beachball.

Is anyone else seeing this? Curious.

This happened to me when I tried installing the first beta over my existing installation. I had to do a complete reinstall.

I sure hope calculator doesn't loose any functionality like the iOS version. Otherwise this release looks like it'll be worth skipping (for me). I need that view>paper tape.. lol and lets not forget the advanced calc view.

Calculator has an advanced RPN view.

Now Exchange email accounts do not work at all.

Interested to know what version of Exchange you connect to. DP1 thru 4 were failures for myself with Exchange 2010. Took until DP5 to finally have some stability with Apple Mail. No more crashes for myself.

Yosemite is ugly as hell has to be the worst look and feel of all the OS

All flat and white on white are we printing all the window are we trying to save printer ink?

The icon are terrible the font is ugly.

I been a mac user since it came out. I sure will not be installing this on my computer. Unless I am force to.

Steve Job would never approve this.

Window looks better then this does now.
I never use windows but it look better now.

Are you trying to kill Apple off?

Enjoy Windows. Bye.

Yosemite is beautiful. The use of translucency works very well and makes the OS more alive. Try to go back to Mavericks after using Yosemite for a couple of hours and you will get what I mean. I also like the new today view a lot. I never used the dashboard so much and now I disabled it completely. When 3rd party developers start bringing new extensions, the today view will become much more important than ever. The same applies to iOS 8 also. This is a really exciting release, I really love the iPhone/OS X integration, especially the ability to send & receive SMS from your Mac and place calls.
This is really nice stuff.

Guys, anybody mentioned the increase of CPU/HDD temperature after DP5 update ? Mine jumped to 52-54 degrees on idle (while before it was 30-32)

This morning the temp is still 37 degrees, which is much better then 52.

I don't know if it's new in this beta, but something about the 'increase contrast' option looks damn sexy. Colors are darkened, icons are blackened and there are really nice outlines around everything. Much better-looking than the 'button shapes' option on iOS8.

I would take more pics, but for some reason system preferences panels aren't screenshotting for me.

Hehe, reminds me of System 6.

Separately; I'm disappointed that window title bars are being cluttered with crap like extra buttons ("Show All") and text entry fields.

Wow if that is what bothers you then that says a a lot, you probably think your ice cream is too cold too right.

People like him find all the little things the res of us don't care about or miss. We need people like him.

Remember the time Steve Jobs was pissed about the wrong shade of yellow?

I have just notice that we can now drag to move/copy between any native in-app file chooser dialog and Finder. Kind of like Windows' file chooser dialog. Drag to set target is still there if we drag to drop-down menu. It is sure more convenient, hoping that they just don't forget about their handy proxy icon in newer apps.

count me in? :)

I hate these type of replies.

There are a lot of users being pushed away from OS X as they don't like the direction it's going and people like you seem to brush it off like it doesn't matter. The people moving away from OS X are not casual users. Like that guy said above, he had been a Mac users since the very start! Apple and Mac enthusiasts in general should not be so dismissive when people question Apple's direction.

Not only would Steve Jobs not approve of this, he would **** can about half of it.

Jobs was a businessman & cared about money and pleasing the shareholders. With hardware, the vast majority of Apple's revenue comes from iOS devices. You can bet your life Jobs would have ensured OS X went hand-in-hand with iOS, probably even more so that it is now. I would say Apple are being very conservative with a lot of their ideas & new features. The iOS look & feel to OS X could have been a lot more forceful if he was still around.

I am surprised that someone can decide to sale the iMac and to by a windows bases PC box just because of some "ugly" shadow on some icons.... ridiculous! !! The main difference between windows based and os based machines are the root principles and programing. Does not matter the shadows and the size of the icons... If someone needs a computer , he will chose it based on the performance and capability to do and run some apps. This is not a jewellery, the looks is not the main factor of choosing the right PC. ..

I'd LOVE to see you do a better job.

I'd LOVE to see you do a better job.

Lots of people did a better job, especially when it comes to icons. Many of those better jobs took a rather short amount of time, a one-person team and did not have a practically unlimited budget. Thing is, as soon as one of those better jobs is posted, you guys are going to immediately dismiss it as worse.

Look, I like Yosemite and all, but there's plenty of stuff in iOS 7 and Yosemite that goes against usability studies, some stuff that was clearly the whim of some employee and Apple is too arrogant to retcon (Game Center icon, anyone?) and then some more stuff that's just plain sloppy. Yosemite and iOS 7 get a lot of things right, but there is a very large room for improvement.

Found a Bug

Try plugging in any pair of headphones with a remote control and spin up iTunes for a bit of disappointment

Thanks :apple:, That worked fine in DP4... way to break it...

guys, how is safari compared to the one we all are using in Maveriks?
i hear is a little bit more snappier ?

I stopped reading your post when I saw the word "icons".

The guy said "Yosemite is ugly as hell has to be the worst look and feel of all the OS".

YOSEMITE, not bloody icons.

I'll rephrase what I said. I'd LOVE to see you do a better job redesigning a operating system.

Tehe. Calm down bro before you have a stroke.

People are not buying macs because of their performance and capability. You can get a cheaper machine with better performance specs. People buy macs because of Apple's attention to detail and build quality. The shadows and the size of icons are small things that add up to a good or bad user experience.
