You're right, but the same is true of removing a hand from the trackpad to complete a keyboard command, many of which require two hands I believe. That's why it should be able to be preformed through both a keyboard command, and a gesture (back and forward navigation that is).

Why would a keyboard command require two hands? There are command, option and shift keys on both sides of the keyboard.

Im with you dude! Removing that feature is insane. But Apple didn't even remove it, officially. In SysPrefs>Trackpad the option to enable/disable it is still there, even though it hasn't worked since Lion. WTF Apple!?!?!

Try BetterTouchTool. It works great, even with Yosemite.

I never got a chance to install the first beta. I have to download all my update via my iphone or another persons computer.
It was hectic to get mavericks installer. I had to use someone else's computer and log in with my id. Dowliad the update. Copy the file and then delete it and logout. Then install it on my home computer.
I'm in a deep world of hurt when all the combo updates are made to be store only. I'll never be able to update anymore.

There is no option. There is an option to swipe between pages, which Finder doesn't fall under. There is no specific Finder option.

Focus Animation

Is the input focus animation toned down at all? Specifically the scaling blue outline. What I experienced in DP4 was rather annoying and almost counterproductive... It'd be nice if they also axed the pointless centered text which transitions left but based on the screenshots I'm seeing, it appears to not have changed.

app switching is very sluggish

After upgrading to DP 5, I see app switching has become very sluggish. Whenever I switch apps (doesn't matter if it's via keyboard or by clicking a window), it takes good 5 - 10 seconds before the app becomes active. This happens every time. When that happens, I also see the spinning beachball.

Is anyone else seeing this? Curious.

Flat does not equal modern

I'm just not sure where people got the idea that flatter equals modern. We had flat UIs before -- in the 1980s. It was called DOS. It was terrible. There was a huge backlash against that flatness in the 90s and suddenly everything became pseudo-3D. This is just going back to flat not because it's new but because it's different.

Minor grammatical issue

In one paragraph you use the term "less transparent". Transparent means clear. Anything less than clear or opaque is TRANSLUCENT.

Not sure if this is has been mentioned but the sound has changed when you adjust the volume.

I don't hear any sound when I adjust the volume if thats what you mean. Although the volume is indeed changing. I use to hear those clicks when you would adjust the volume.

DP5 has new volume and brightness HUDs, and they look terrible!

EDIT: Added Dark Mode screenshot

OHHHH NOOO. This is the most annoying graphic of iOS7 that blocks your screen while you change the volume. WHY MUST THEY DO IT TO THE MAC TOOO??

I don't know if it's new in this beta, but something about the 'increase contrast' option looks damn sexy. Colors are darkened, icons are blackened and there are really nice outlines around everything. Much better-looking than the 'button shapes' option on iOS8.

I would take more pics, but for some reason system preferences panels aren't screenshotting for me.

It looks really nice on retina Macs, but looks bloody horrible on my cMBP and on my Thunderbolt Display.

Yosemite is ugly as hell has to be the worst look and feel of all the OS

Yosemite is ugly as hell has to be the worst look and feel of all the OS

All flat and white on white are we printing all the window are we trying to save printer ink?

The icon are terrible the font is ugly.

I been a mac user since it came out. I sure will not be installing this on my computer. Unless I am force to.

Steve Job would never approve this.

Window looks better then this does now.
I never use windows but it look better now.

Are you trying to kill Apple off?

Steve Jobs stopped caring about the Mac as soon as the iPhone was out (and cared even less when the iPad was created). I really don't think we should be going by what he would or wouldn't have done when he was alive.

The setting seems to now be off by default, or at least it was for me after I updated. You can turn the clicks back on in System Preferences>Sound>Sound Effects>Play Feedback When Volume Is Changed

Wi-Fi is still diabolical and pretty much useless. Back to Mavericks for me.

I'm sure there are some, but the ones that you use most often tend to be the simplest. And you can generally remap any key shortcut in MacOS to anything you want.
Okay but anyone can admit that the removal of the gesture is absolutely ridiculous...

I sure hope calculator doesn't loose any functionality like the iOS version. Otherwise this release looks like it'll be worth skipping (for me). I need that view>paper tape.. lol and lets not forget the advanced calc view.
