Looking forward to yosemite and hoping it doesn't hose my windows bootcamp like earlier versions did.

I have important work the next months so there is no messing around with it for me unless i'm feeling brave and have slept well.

Ah you're right, my bad.

It just seems like "continuity" should mean - continuing doing something somewhere else and "handoff" should be handing the call off the device the the Mac.

Mind that page isn't clear what the terms are used for other than Handoff is the e-mails/web pages etc between devices. By the looks of things "continuity" actually encompasses ALL of those features and is the iOS name for handoff and call sharing as they all feature on the continuity page and at no point does it separately say "continuity means text messages" etc.

wow poor microsoft

I didn't know Microsoft was releasing windows 10. For curiosity I went to their website and what do I see… Macbook Air on first page *shakes head* - and no mention of Windows 10 anywhere. And a page that looks outdated to say the least. Poor Microsoft...

Sorry not Yosemite related except to say: looking forward to it!! :D

the way things have been going with apple lately, ill be waiting to update my computer.

The iOS 8.0.1 update was the only real mishap on their part (other than the botched keynote stream).

However, I, too, will be waiting to update my computer to Yosemite because its user interface is so... ugh! Can't stand it! (I am running the public beta on a test laptop just so that I'm not talking out of my arse. My observations are based on hands-on experience next to two laptops running Mavericks.)

Really? I guess I am just use to doing "fresh installs" from Windows. (Im a former windows user).

yes - that was also one of the big adjustments I had to do back when I switched from windows to mac and all my mac friends told me that no fresh install is needed (didn't trust them at first - but it worked). With Windows I actually did a fresh install every other year because the system became too slow otherwise - but I don't see this with Mac OS. Glad that the Windows days are long long behind me.

Just curious to know if the latest release fixes the horrid font appearances on non retina displays? Sorry, the last time I checked on Yosemite development was in the early stages when ppl were complaining about how bad the interface appeared on non retina displays.

I've not tried Yosemite at all yet. Does it (hopefully) fix all the stuff they broke in Mountain Lion/Mavericks and still haven't fixed (e.g. Finder gestures, SMB share performance, etc.)? It seems with every iteration lately things just get worse.

i dont see anything in the messages app on phone to activate for mac?

please help thanks

any issues with 8.1

im nervous to update to it also is apple pay functional on 8.1 or just a preview?

I have not done a fresh install since probably Tiger ... even when I get a new machine I just clone the drive from the old one to the new one. Never had any issues. And I had a few betas in the mix of upgrades.

More or less the same for me, but I started of with OS X 10.0 b, never did a clean install, had some minor issues but those where on the later versions, like ML and Yosemite.

Can I update to this from public beta 3, or do I need to updated to DP8 then update again?

It has nothing to do with public betas. Stop mixing the PBs and DPs.

This GM is an update to DP8 only. Not PB3.

They are different programs with different update cycles. If you mix them up you may introduce your own bugs thereby rendering your feedback to apple useless.
