Apple Releases OS X Yosemite Golden Master Candidate to Developers [Update: Also Public Beta]

What I could find out is that there is no full installer for this GM candidate, so if you don't have Yosemite installed yet you have to download DP7 first and then the delta update for DP8 and then another delta update to this GM.

There will probably be a proper GM with a full installer released a week before the final version goes public.

I downloaded a full installer from the App Store using my download code. It's 5.11GB in size.

Downloaded while in Mavericks.

This is so narrow-minded - different dev team from iOS. Different QA team from iOS. Problems in iOS do not reflect on issues (or lack thereof) in OS X.

Because in 2014, the 3D plastic bubble look is as antiquated looking as tailfins and curb feelers. And skeuomorphism is finally going away. Wasn't a good idea with Microsoft Bob, and is just silly now.

I have no idea really. I rely heavily on those applications, so I can't be bothered switching to Yosemite. The applications are MATLAB and Mathematica. There are a few other's, but those are not as important.

Working on my 2013 iMac and 6+.

As soon as I installed and restarted Yosemite, I opened the Messages app in OS X and it immediately asked if I wanted to use that feature with my iPhone, I said Yes and it gave me a code to enter on my iPhone.
I unlocked my iPhone and a prompt popped up asking to enter the code from my iMac.

After that, it works.


I'm also on iOS 8.1...

Are you able to send/receive text messages on your iPad?

And in 2021, when flatter is deemed to be too boring, we'll bring back hi-color, hi-res 3D icons which will really show off the capabilities of the 8K displays we'll all be using.

I'm pretty sure ios 8 broke my icloud tabs connection to Mavericks. Looking forward to yosemite to restore this. Though my current laptop is so slow it's really time for a new one.
