Wow, what a joke. This is not the company that it once was.
Several versions of iPhone OS/iOS and Mac OS X had install errors.
Sometimes when you’re pushing an update to 2000,000,000 devices at the same time, things can go wrong.
Most people do not update right away either, they wait for their phones to do it in the background, which usually happens days after they release.
As long as it’s fixed within the next 24 hours or so, it’s a non-issue.

Stockholm Syndrome

I feel like while I agree that the fact that the update is failing on iOS is ridiculous (and somewhat hilarious) - people definitely underestimate what it takes to run a large distributed service.

This is the first time Apple released an update like this. This is when they learn the hard lessons. It is how servicing works. It is not an indication of impeding doom - this could totally be a dependency issue too (as opposed to something that Apple did) as rapid updates were simply not released before like this.

All I am saying is - yes, this sucks but - no, this does not prove that Apple lost it.
“ some might say, why should we trust them? They’re the ones that brought us MobileMe!” - Steve Jobs at WWDC 2011 when introducing iCloud.
And guess what? iCloud didn’t have the smoothest launch either.
And when it comes to cloud services, it’s not always necessarily Apple‘s fault. Servers are never perfect, ever. I don’t think there’s ever been an Internet company that just never goes down every once in a while, it’s just something that happens.

Well, I shall consider myself super lucky then to have been able to install on the first attempt iOS 16.4.1 and all the versions before that, including various betas. ;)

What does this statement mean? It shows up for everybody, but if your device is not on the list yet, you cannot install it? Why? Why even show it, if you can’t install it? And why give the no internet connection error instead of „just wait pleb!“

Makes no sense…
