Stuck on Apple logo after restart to apply update on iPhone 11.
I need to ease all data and restore firmware with Apple Configurator to fix.
Thank, Apple Devs

Why did Rush to install something you really, really didnt need ?
How do you know in advance that any particular update is needed? Do you only update if you have a problem and Apple says that update specifically fixes that problem? It's generally good practice (as is also recommended by Apple) that you keep your devices updated to the most current version. There is no way to know in advance if the 2nd build wasn't fixing a problem created by the 1st build. The point is, you don't know in advance that you need, or don't need, any particular update.

There is an "Software Update" setting in System Preferences. if an update is shown there, then Apple recommends that you install it.
If it doesn't appear there, then it is not needed.

Or in other words: Whoever had already upgraded to 21E236 did not need to upgrade to 21E237.

That's not the case. While it didn't appear as a Software Update on the iPhone, it DID appear as a Software Update in Finder. Apple made no statement that said that those with 21E236 did not need to upgrade to 21E237. If the 2nd build wasn't needed for those who had the first build installed, it shouldn't have appeared as an available update in either location.

It only feels sketchy to people who don't know software development and deployment.

It's sad when people must come up with some kind of conspiracy theory when they encounter something in the world, they don't understand.
Funny cause I am a software developer.. most likely it’s a patched build for Mac to iPhone/iPad specific path update. But the lack of release notes and the choice to not just bump the version and only the build hash is unusual of Apple

Do you have any evidence to support what you said? Especially the parts about the Feds, backdoors and seeming sketchy.
Any of the back door stuff is probably locked again behind secret courts.. Apple probably got triple gagged after that whole public iPhone case happened. You’d be the NSA/Feds would want/get access to anything made by US companies if need be.

It’s probably just for Mac to device specific upgrade path. Something might have been bugged with that process in latest M3 Mac’s or something

Not updating immediately. Waiting for some more time for all bugs to be fixed.
Once when we were at any release x.4 we were good to go
Not the case lately
I'm still at 16.7.2 waiting for a miracle LOL

So in essence, you are agreeing with me. The person making the comment has no fact based evidence that 17.4.1 is part of some conspiracy to benefit Feds or national security agencies. Lots of supposition and unnecessary if the Feds have and secure the needed permission.

Facts matter. Evidence matters.

Out of curiosity I plugged my iPad and loaded up iTunes on an old laptop for the first time in years. 6gb update :) this is nostalgic of pre delta updates. Although, I guess the updates were a lot smaller before delta updates were introduced.

The other week Skype automatically updated itself in the middle of a call - shutting down and restarting.
Yeah, I get the same with Opera on my iMac. It will just stop everything, close, update, and re-open when it wants to regardless of anything I’m doing, like several downloads, multiple tabs open, etc. Really aggravating. Can’t find any setting that precludes this behavior.

No, and based on the problems a few have had in trying to update, it's probably best to skip this update and wait for the next one.
That is also apparently why there was an updated build of 17.4.1 to build 21E237. To resolve an install issue a very small few were having.

Except it was the 21E237 build that caused the install issues mentioned in this thread. The installation of the earlier 21E236 build was problem-free.
