I wouldn't download updates for a Linux or Windows system while
traveling - how is that a slant against Apple?
"Stuff" happens on every OS - why risk applying a minor update
while you don't have your normal resources to fix any issues?
Any production system is locked down from any changes. I apply
the same constraint to my laptop when I travel - if I'm at a hotel
in Cambodia and the WiFi screws up due to an update, I've lost
my tool.
I'm surprised at your question, since I expected flames of the
"but you use Windows, so you expect updates to blow up"....![]()
Not at all, OS X is just as faulty or as perfect as Windows OS. My point was simply that I've read a lot from you over the years that seems to paint Apple, Inc. in a bad light. I'm an equal opportunity offender, I think both OS's have their pro's and con's
Regardless, it would be a serious fault if a small update to a web browser would cause a system to panic, resulting in a useless machine. That goes for OS X and Windows.
