Ok..Maybe i'm just seeing things, but it's running A LOT faster for me..No lagging like before, (especially with top sites) :)

It it update core web services it requires an update. There is more to safari than just the browser that gets updated.

OMG - they've embedded the browser into the OS? Call the
Department of Justice !!

</sarcasm>

Since I upgraded for 4GB RAM and I have a 7200rpm HDD, I hardly see any beach ball, which was a regular on my 13" MBP.

If 4 GiB and a fast hard drive are required to run an Apple
web browser, I hope that the posts about bloated Adobe and
bloated Windows will stop!

I think we'll have to wait a little while to see the impact Window makes. I imagine this release was planned out a while back.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I wondered how long ago she was actually hired as opposed to when the information was announced to the mainstream media.

As an aside, I'm curious to know what features general users would like to have implemented into a new Safari release.

1. Volume control

I believe Internet Explorer will be coming back to the Mac soon in Microsoft's attempt to regain browser market share.

I'll check it out after the update. Part of me really wants to use Safari, but I still find it inferior to Firefox and my new default browser, Chrome. Though I will say that no browser I've tried can touch Safari when it comes to handling PDF files.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

I switched to Chrome months ago and my preference for it has only grown as Google's developed it further.
Can anyone comment on Safari's speed versus Chrome after this update?

They're not, but they certainly make Windows and OS X run faster.

Just got back to the Hotel and I downloaded the update. I feel no noticable differences whatsoever.

Why would you risk an update while traveling (unless you don't
care if your Apple laptop is killed)?

Question: I've noticed you on here for years, and to be honest, most of your comments are slanted against Apple. Why?

I will likely be corrected, but I don't think the attitude is against Apple, it is against some of the populace and culture surrounding it.

From time to time, AidenShaw will actually complement Apple, but you have to be quick and intelligent to spot it, and not rub it in too much. ;)

I wouldn't download updates for a Linux or Windows system while
traveling - how is that a slant against Apple?

"Stuff" happens on every OS - why risk applying a minor update
while you don't have your normal resources to fix any issues?

Any production system is locked down from any changes. I apply
the same constraint to my laptop when I travel - if I'm at a hotel
in Cambodia and the WiFi screws up due to an update, I've lost
my tool.

I'm surprised at your question, since I expected flames of the
"but you use Windows, so you expect updates to blow up".... ;)

Nice update. It seems to have fixed a few beach balling issues I was having. Safari AdBlocker is working.

I was using Glimmerblocker a few months ago and it blocked ads wonderfully, but it started giving me some issues not loading pages completely, namely on YouTube and ESPN. I had to uninstall it and go with something else. Safari AdBlocker does the job fine.

After some light browsing:

Rebooted, cold started, less than one second. Nice.
Also got the Office update and the Firefox ones. I am
liking some of the themes for Firefox. Good stuff.
"Wearing" the Colorful theme as it is called. It is the yellow
one with the firefox logo on it, with Illustrator type vector
swirlys. =)

10.6.3

I don't think 10.6.3.........Coming out any time soon
If they r releasing by next week they could have compiled this Safari Update in the 10.6.3 as there is no security threat in these fixes
