Disappointing that this build doesn't include an updated HD4000 driver. The driver included from DP4 onwards causes the system to lock up with "GPU Hang" reports sporadically.

Using the Kext from DP1 stops it :(.

Err.. mine said build 14A386b

It'll be a if you're using the developer branch, b if you're using the public branch.

I've reported this bug in every Yosemite release. It has slightly been improved upon each version. My volume greys out usually when it wakes from sleep mode and I have to adjust and force it to become workable from system preferences/sound options.

That's a separate bug. The one I mentioned is (thankfully) just cosmetic:

I bet this is "the one". I can't really imagine a third GM release although it can of course happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple had some documented bugs they knew they wanted to fix, but they wanted to disrupt the Windows 10 party a bit. Seriously, GM Candidate? Has Apple used that terminology before even once?

Also... "Candidate" means exactly that: It could end up being the actual release. That's the definition of candidate. :p It doesn't mean "this isn't final".

lol 104 MB; what did they do? Change the finder icon's left upper corner? hahahaha <3:apple::apple:

I don't think so. I doubt it has anything to do with Windows, though. Last year they had two GMs that were both called GMs, they probably changed it to eliminate confusion if they had to release another one. Although, it seems to have generated more confusion...

still having the weird lag animations in:
Notification Center scrolling and even during the roll-in
In System Prefs when the page is changing

hd4000. anyone know the solution? i doubt that apple will release this with these kind of bugs, sloppy gui is not acceptable in 1-year-old retina mbp...

SMS Handoff is working a LOT faster now. Before it would take about 10-15 seconds to send an SMS message, now it's just as fast as my iPhone. So I'm assuming it's working flawlessly for everybody else now as well.

I completely agree with you. However this is the reason I always pay the extra money to get a discrete GPU.

Try using the Kexts from DP1. That's what I had to do to stop the crashing.

Well, now it's not an issue, the Iris is a huge improvement over the HD series. I cringed when they announced the 13" retina with a HD 4000, and double-cringed when Phil Schiller said you could play Civ V on it at retina resolutions...

That's debatable. Snow Leopard isn't going to receive updates anymore, and will soon no longer work with Java. Have fun with that.

Agreed i feel like ppl who share that sentiment that every new OS since then has been sub-par are the same ppl who hate instant reply being added in baseball, and hate that women can vote rofl.....
But i meannnnn for real, get with it. From a dv standpoint Yosemite is a breath of fresh air; from a User standpoint users will feel connected to their iPhones/iOS devices which they have all been asking for since the first iPhone OS came out. Yosemite is just a beauitful beauitful OS.

i got a geforce 650m in mine, but as far as battery life is concerned, i suppose we need to enable the "automatic graph switching" option, which results using the hd4000 in almost every situation (except encoding, ps, gaming..).
so we need a better hd4000 driver, this is ridiculous, even an iPhone 4S gets better fps in these animations (notification centre and all the gui-related stuff), so it should be only a matter of time.. hopefully..

Even with public beta and everything the overall OS seems glitchy even on new machines.

Um, not on my 2012 MBA... It's been stable with the last Beta and GM. I hope they keep working on issues.

One thing to note is third party apps that aren't updated to work with Yosemite will crash. I have a few that crash and burn but the OS still stays up and other apps work.

Ah nuts! I think I un-ticked the box in the App Store Preferences which said something like "Allow Pre-Release Updates" the problem is the option is not there anymore to re-enable.

Anyway to fix this with out a re-install?

10.6.8 - fastest, most stable, most reliable OS Apple has released. Snow leopard is the mac version of Windows 7. :)
yep, agree completely. I only recently and reluctantly updated my mbp to mavericks from Snow Leopard because I wanted icloud sync features but I still miss Snow Leopard. I really really wish Apple would slow down the upgrade cycle for OS X or at least do "snow" versions every other year. these yearly upgrades are killing the quality of the OS - just look at how 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9 turned out. lots of really buggy and half baked stuff which never gets fixed before a new version rolls in and the cycle repeats. meanwhile, lots of older programs desperately in need of updates are left unattended. the bloated mess that's itunes is probably the worst example of that.
We'll have to agree to disagree. Tiger on my G4 Quicksilver was about as stable as I have ever used.

Cheetah OTOH, that was a pile of crap.
I don't recall how stable Tiger was but
10.6.8 was very stable too and far more advanced than Tiger. I recently visited a friend who still has Tiger on his office mac (yes, for reals). he just never updated his OS and Tiger is what his imac came with. I was amazed at how antiquated 10.4 is even compared to Snow Leopard. no Spaces, no Time machine, no Quicklook, no nothing.

As someone who has the Iris Pro and the GT 750M I can tell you that it's not that much better... The UI lags like crazy, especially in the About This Mac section.
