can't we just download the
iPodTouch1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw (if theres one) and restore it into our touches?

I did that, worked fine, but some users report problems with the debug code causing it to freeze or something

looks like they took the image down though--it was free from Apple.com if you knew where to look

Hmmmm, It says I've only got 7.08 gigabytes (8Gb iPod, obviously) after loading. I thought the original came with 7.4 or something, so is this update take up that much space? Arggg, they should call it a 7 Gb iPod.
My iPod went from 14.84gbs to 14.64gbs (if I recall correctly). I imagine Apple allocated more space towards the OS than in previous updates.

By the way, the torrent sites already have this update available as a restore image for the Touch. It's build "5A345". It works perfectly and is indistinguishable from a purchased version.

Purely for informational purposes. Piracy is wrong.
They even have 54347, which is identical to the purchased version.

iTunes is backing up my iPod everytime I plug it in now. Is that happening to anyone else? Is there a way to turn backups off?

problems!

remote shows up under devices, but once i enter the code my touch cannot find my library...

i bought apps on the phone but they do not transfer into itunes...why? this computer is authorized. should i restart my macbook? is anyone else having these issues?

Geez I only have 6GB of stuff on mine; it's taking FOREVER to restore the music & videos. I feel like Peter on Office Space waiting for his Mac to close down after installing the virus on Innetech's server.

You know what I'm talking about!

Still can't believe they are charging half the price for something I just paid $20. Thanks Apple. I'll wait for the jailbroken version.

Finally , has been trying since yesterday but got the same message every-time " the system is muerto " ( dead :D)

Downloading now .... want to try out some apps I´ve bought from the app store yesterday ... yeah ... that part did work ...

Now I will hit the road and try to find a Movistar shop somewhere around that actually received the iphone .... tried yesterday in 3 shops with no luck ( one of them had no idea what the hell I was talking about when I asked for the iphone .... somehow Spain is " different "

Have fun

Saludos

Just Downloaded 2.0 and Pandora Radio

I just updated a Ipod Touch that did not come with the January Updates originally. I am happy to report I've got all January applications, including Google maps, and am able to use the application store. Just downloaded Pandora, and am playing music now.

Bought this Ipod, new and with full warranty from BHphoto.com for 244.95 with free shipping. So with the $9.95 for Update 2.0, this Ipod touch only cost me $254.90. So this is a good option for an Ipod Touch on the cheap.

Wow They've Lowered their Prices

Just checked BHphoto.com and they've lowered their price for an Ipod Touch without the January Updates to $239.95 with full warranty (not refurbished).

That means you can update it to 2.0 for a total of $249.90!

The site is not open right now however. They regularly shut down on Friday for maintenance and reopen on Saturday at 9:45 pm.

Excuse me, I am downloading the 2.0 now... but what i see is that its only backup the media (songs and videos). anyone know if it also backup notes and maps bookmark too?

i lost many of my songs and videos from my itunes library last time when my harddrive died. I like to have my ipod touch upgraded to 2.0, but i'm more having everything keeping all my pics, songs, videos, contacts, bookmarks and notes in place. From what i read above a few guys cannot restore their ipod properly and that really make me worry.

Can anybody recommend a backup utility so that i can have an extra level of protection to everything in my ipod touch? thanks

You'll miss the nice original iPod Touch dock. I know I do.

You're right. I do miss it. This new dock is ugly.

Oh well. Jailbreak is on the way. As long as they didn't remove the hidden options in 2.0 I can always switch it back. That and combine music and videos into one icon again.

Actually, if you look at the movie again. Peter was trying to get out before Lumberg cornered him to work the weekend. He (Peter) had quite a few windows running and what-not that had to be closed. It wasn't anything to do with the virus he injected.

And if you noticed, when everything closed on the "Apple", it dropped to an old-skool amber colored C:\> prompt.

I'm a movie junkie, sue me. LOL

does anyone have the version number on the download using the official way is it

iPod1,1_2.0_5A347

it's working!

Downloaded it in 8 minutes, and my iPod is currently 'restoring'. :apple:
