my dell can't hold on

the hard drive of my dell 600m just got messed up. Bad sectors this week that i didn't have last week. I hope I get my macbook pro soon so I can sell my 600m on ebay (with refurbished dell hard drive of course  ). I ordered mine right when the site went back up. Just clicked the order button and ordered it. I must have been like one of the first hundred to order one. If i have to wait any longer i'm going to cry.

apple's webiste updated!!

I noticed that on another forum someone mentioned that apple has updated the online store ship dates for the MBP from "ships february" to "ships: 3-4 weeks) he went on to comment on if that is the shipping status for people placing orders now, that it is probably a more reliable thought that their planning on shipping the pre-orders anytime soon i.e. before or on the dates that you all have been givin. Just thougth I would forward the new info.

P.S. I was the one that was inquiring about all of your thougts on the possibility of besbuy getting them, I took my glitchy laptop up and seeing as it is the fourth time they are going to replace it, but have to confirm with service center first, but it looks like they'll allow me to upgrade to a MBP once they get them on their site....................I just hope it doesnt take forever. :p

I spoke to a rep from best buy and he told me that they were trying to get rid of the mac line. We used to have a mac mini in the store before and now they don't. I was told that the profit margin on selling apple products was very low. My university only makes about 3 % on the apple products they sell and i'm sure best buy doesn't make much more. At least my ship date hasn't changed.

They're on the way...

Hi all!
Just wanted to share a little info regarding the MacBook Pro's. I was in touch with Apple (Sweden) this morning to check on my order and was told that they have started shipping now. This only really applies to for the Europeans who've ordered but good to know they are on the way and not going to be delayed an extra week or so...

Hope you all get yours soon! :)

Can anyone in the UK confirm this?

I did that whole process once before. It does take a while. However, I'm not sure Best Buy is even planning on selling Macs. I could be wrong though. Worst case is you get a brand new laptop and sell it unopened on eBay.

Right, I've received my RAM.. now I just need a MacBook Pro.

hehe... I ordered my other 1GB of ram this past weekend. To get free shipping, it as like 7-9 day delivery, so I'm hoping my RAM will arrive around the same time as my MacBook Pro

lol, yeah this is my back-up plan, actually they still have 12 inch Power Books in stock on the site (along with many others) so if I find out that they wont get any in 'm gonna push for that because of reading about the high resell value. I think i got all my bases coverd lol. I'll find a way to own a Macbook Pro one way or another hehe

A random $122.96 charge from Apple just showed up on my account....can this mean anything?

Keep us updated!

I will..I've called Apple, they don't even know what it is. It appears to be the full price of the extra battery I ordered for my MBP....very interesting....

hmm, maybe they'll ship you your battery to taunt you for a while until your MacBook ships

BTW, you're in the US correct? Where abouts?

Yeah, I am, Indiana....the thing is, the battery wasn't slated to be shipped out until MARCH 13th! Apple also told me that they just had enough batteries to ship out to meet the demands for the notenooks themselves....

Very interesting indeed... let's hope this and the story in one of the other threads about the UK store having floor models means they'll be shipping VERY soon.

Yeah...they transferred me over to the purchasing dept. becuase no one new (even the superviors) what this charge was. It's WAY to big to be an autorization charge, but too small to be the MacBook obviouslly...

Well well young Macbook lovers, what news do I bring???

Just went to the UK Apple Store Regents Street to buy Office - since I need it for work. I mentioned the MacBooks ...

'Any ideas when you're gonna get em in', I joked.

The bloke casually replied, 'Well don't tell anyone, but we've just got the demo models in today, they're downstairs.'

 'Really! When you gonna be selling them then?'

'They're looking to get the shipment into our stores by the weekend'

 'So you'll be able to buy them this weekend?', I asked pointedly

'You'll be able to buy them this weekend', he repeated flatly

'When you gonna have the demo models out and about then?'

'We should have em in the store by tomorrow afternoon'

'Wow, thanks mate', I replied cooly

The above conversation went something like that anyway. I'm fairly certain that they had the demo models in, from the way he said it. He also seemed fairly confident when I directly asked him if they'll be available to buy from this weekend at the store, although I wouldn't hold my breath - he could just have been flirting with me, I was wearing my best scarf. ;)

Here's to some battery readings by mid next week! :D

Got this from another post. Figured I would spread the word.

I'm going to London this week... so it looks like I may make a detour to Regent Street this weekend... probably would have anyway!;)

Just received a second order delayed from apple on my macBook:

-Ordered 10th Jan '06, original shipping estimate 7th Feb '06
-Received delay notice, new shipping date 10th Feb '06 (ok, not too bad I can live with that)

-Another delay notice just now - estimated shipping date now 10th March '06!!!!

Nice one Apple, you sure know how to keep your customers happy...

I wonder what this will do for the USA shipping times. I still have a ship date of the 15th. Hopefully it won't change but i'm pretty doubtful now :(

just spoken to someone at Apple store UK about this and they we're going to upgrade my order priority to 1 until they found out that I'm already in that category. Doesn't sound too good to me, they did promise to find out why it's been deyaled and let me know - I'll keep you posted.

10th March  if this is standard across the board, who's going to cancel their order? I'm tempted... I may as well wait for Rev B at this rate.
