Nice, but maybe in the near future the voice will change, Siri is not exactly what I would call a nice voice. Love to see a few cool voices and I would love darth vader ;) like voice way better than the anime girl high pitch Siri has.

----------

Wait, you can ask Siri to refer to you in a special way, but you can't have her hm, IDK, CREATE A CONTACT?

Also, I'm surprised that Apple would use "God" in a commercial. Between that and the Santa ad, I get the sense that some religious people could be put off.

Oh poor delusional people they will be mad, I don't think most people who buy Apple would care about the God analogy they would be more Window Users and how many times a week they scream out one god or another name after something goes wrong ;)

the notification center(Android),

I just stopped explaining to people how not revolutionary apple features are. Apple essentially did what other companies failed to do in the early 2000's and that is market and make THE AVERAGE PERSON want your phone.

Man, android users love going on about the Notification centre. Is that all that's come from Android worth talking about?

p.s I think you get confused with "Inventing" and something being "revolutionary".

pp.s why are you hating on Apple so much....on an Apple board?

I like how these commercials emphasize what Apple's products do. I hope Apple stays away from commercials that bash competitor's products. I don't like negative advertising. :D

I suspect they will. With the "I'm a Mac" ads they were speaking to common complaints that were all over the place about Windows based computers but they never called out a particular version or OEM. They don't have that going for them with the iPhone etc. So not mentioning the other guys is the better play. Why remind folks there is an option.

Siri is one of Apple's rare creations that you don't actually need. I hardly use Siri anymore. Mostly because it rarely understands what I tell it.

Really personally I wish my iPad 2 had Siri in it. Its not perfect but it is one sweet thing that makes the iPhone even more fun to use now. The issue is not Siri, as the map from Google blows so bad. Time for Apple to do their own things or force their hand and upgrade that old piece of junk.

Hey Apple, enough of the useless Siri garbage. What else can the phone do?

Not sure why folks are down rating this comment given that while perhaps a snide tone, it is valid. How about some ads showing the other stuff the iPhone does. Particularly since Siri is still Beta and not perfect by a long shot

Fandroid do seem to whine a lot about Apple and users considering they are not using the product. Reminds me of religion and how they can't fix their own believes so they wail on other similar people believes. Very strange

"I can only look for maps and businesses in the United States, and when you're using US. English. Sorry about that."

:D

There is more to the world than US Ah? I never new that. I learn something new every day at Macrumors. :D

To clarify - are you suggesting that simply because someone makes a factual statement that something was on another OS before it was on iOS - that makes them a fandroid? I would love to know where this "line" is so everyone can know when they are crossing it...

There's a scene at the end of the first episode of Mad Men where Don Draper explains what advertising is all about.

And that is what much of Apple's advertising is about. Its saying that no matter if you are a kid dreaming of being a rock star; or a dad trying to stay in touch with his kid; or someone who just wants to know something about the stars - you are OK. The hook, of course, is that Apple not only understands this, they show how their phones and computers enable what it is you are trying to do.

Apple's advertising doesn't dwell on features, or clock speeds, or RAM, or even pure features. Not that these aren't important. But they don't need to show up in their TV commercials.

By way of contrast, what do Samsung's "make fun of the people outside the Apple Store" commercials say: "You are an obnoxious jerk"?

Different demographics is why the commercials are different. Samsung is going after the Apple haters and showing them that its ok to make fun of them waiting in line. Apple is going after a much more affluent clientele who does not care if your poor wallet can not handle the Apple product price which is fine by me for example.

I have no problem financially buying Apple products I deem useful and could care less if you use Windows 95 as your OS of choice. There is the difference, I like products that are not only capable of delivering my need but also for their beauty. As I type this on a Macbook Air 2011 with a Mac 27" monitor I know that I bought exactly what I wanted.

Apple does not need to show us that our purchase was right. Fandroid and later on FanSoft (aka MS Fan's) have no choice from the post I read online. Fandroid literally want people to believe that they made a bad choice getting an iPhone and will get nasty if you don't care. Apple users for the most part and yes there are exception to the rule could care less what you got they enjoy what they have without having to justify some abstract spec that mean almost nothing in real world situation. They like Apple products and they like to say so, I and most people I know could care less that you did not buy an iPhone or Mac since each person must live in their one island and furnish it their own way.

Maybe that's the price for getting working location based suggestions. We don't get anything to do with Maps, or Businesses in the UK, but we do get a nicer man-voice.

This is what I am talking about . . . . down there:

<<----

The posters SAID twice that he uses both the iPhone and an Android phone.

I myself have been an Apple fanboy since 1999 and professional user since 2004. I have an iPad and endlessly mentioned how I've drooled for an iPhone since it's introduction. Not to mention how the iPhone 5 is what I intend to purchase next.

Impartial . . . . . educated . . . . . discussion. PLEASE!

I agree about the notification center being mentioned too much, but that's only because it was the most recent. Apple's multitasking is very WebOS although nowhere near as elegant, and there are countless features pulled from Palm OS and Sony Ericson PDAs written throughout the forums.

Apple pulling and getting inspired from other products isn't really that big of a deal.

My feeling and motto has always been,

"Those who buy kindles or Nooks only buy those because they can't afford an iPad."

I'm not saying that iPads are over-priced, although I wish I could afford one. But the market suggests that the popularity is based on people wanting Kindles and Nooks over an iPad. Well... every Kindle/Nook user I've ever talked (except for the ones in denial) would rather have an iPad and not the crappy Kindle/Nook they are currently using and bought it in a crunch.

I personally have used both and the touch screens and capabilities SUCK with a capitol S.&.*.T.

I think forum rules prohibit me from telling you my exact thoughts on your "motto"

All I'll say is that I don't agree at all.

How is that different from typing into google and being educated?

Anti- Siri laws? I'll assume you're joking and laugh with you....haha.....ha.....ha.....

I do not talk to my iMac. My limits are pets.

And what eduction? its best use is finding food or setting your Alarm clock.

Yes I was taking the piss out of the poster who was blaming UK laws for Apple not having certain functionality being released over here.

So if they like their device and say like "reading" on it, they are in denial?

I think you are completely missing the point of a kindle, and frankly one would be wasted on you. Yes picture books are much much better on an iPad!

I love Apple, but please Apple one request: stop ending these commercials with Siri talking, it's quite creepy.

The rock god ad is one of the best Apple ads ive seen in awhile. Perfect way to advertise Siri.

I have the "4S/Siri" orchestral tune as my ringtone. It's a really nice sound.

Whenever I get a call it's like a mini Apple commercial. :)

Don't siri and evi use the same nuance engine? Shouldn't voice recognition be identical?

Exactly what I thought, but for some reason Evi performs better, when it's servers aren't fully loaded that is
On a different level - Dragon Dictate for iMac is by far the most accurate voice recognition software I have ever used.

to most people, Apple represents the easiest way to from point A to B

What about when you open a link in an email and then want to go back to that email. In android, wp7, and blackberry you have a dedicated back button that will take you back a step. In IOS you have to hit the home button and then go back to the app. Definitely not the easiest way from A to B.

Not true. Do some research and find out why...

Ok - how about this.

I want to send an email. I start writing it and realize - Oh! I want to send a picture or pretty much anything. I have to go to a separate app and then "share" or copy/paste and then go back into email.

Just a skyrocket last week and love the fact that I can simply hit "attach" and choose what I want. That seems very point a to b, right?
