I use it all the time :)

Mostly for setting alarms, reminders/tasks, reading emails on the go.

Can't wait for location services to come out in the UK!

Agreed - I'm in the same boat here, and for a relatively prominent feature I think the wait has been far too long. This should have been sorted by now in 'core' countries ( initial release countries ).

in fact....

i still wonder why there are so many anti-apple users on this site? either they don't have a life... or they don't have anything to say on their "pro' sites"

So I ask, which is it, dick, or boredom?

I'm guessing that the anti-Apple users you talk about are the ones that don't like the commerials or don't use Siri. That is, at least some of them own an iPhone 4S but don't use the Siri functionality. The ones that don't like the commercials probably own at least one Apple product too.

Some of the posters that simply claim that they don't use Siri and don't see much need for it get massively down-voted. Posters that claim they use Siri get upvoted. My guess is, that if you exchanged Siri with Facetime, or even Ping you would get the same result.

The vast majority of users on these forums own Apple products, and yet a subset of the users of these forums feel persecuted by Apple haters. Maybe it's time to find an alternative explanation to "Macrumors is overrun with Apple haters".

personally hate using the text and reminder feature of Siri i dont get it. most of the time it ends up like this "here is your reminder: set reminder" or "here is your text: send an text to ..." it takes everything i say into the message and doesnt take it as a command xD

only use it to set a alarm or to ask it silly questions

Realistically speaking, how can people get 5 solid bars of 3G while in the middle of nowhere?

I'm not being serious but in real life...

Does it mention how terrible Siri is and cant offer real turn by turn directions?

God, these are irritating. Beautiful kids, barely grown out of their acne, asking dumb questions. There's presumably not much of a market among grown-ups at the moment?

I like Siri, but surely they can do better than that voice. Perhaps it's not the most important aspect of it, but to me it's the least polished and Apple-like part.

Yeah great ads!!! if it could work with my greek-english accent.

Well they can't use these ads in the UK as it would be false advertising. Siri is pretty much useless anywhere apart from America. I find it incredible they couldn't get it working over here, we don't speak an entirely different language despite what some might think.

I got so fed up with Siri not being able to do stuff I've not used it since the first week I got the phone. Yes I know its in Beta and I now know (shame they didn't make it clear at launch) that sometime in 2012 they are going to roll out to more countries.

Be nice to get it working before the next iPhone comes out!

Road trip had beautiful locations, but all I could look at was how pretty that iPhone was.

very good point! I need to re watch the ad now. :D Well played Apple.

Its most probably stupid laws in the UK that Apple are still working on. Who knows?

I think I get it now.

Amazon Director: Show the phone a few times, but really just compare yourself to the competition and show why, even though the competitor has a better device, the consumer should go to your device. Use lots of irrelevant dialog in an exotic location like a beach.

Samsung Director: Insult the owners of the competitors device and make them question their purchase, show the phone a few times. Glee style dance routine.

Google Director: LOTS of flashing lights. Lots of cool music. A CG mockup of the phone but NOT the phone itself. The phone should be turned off. The user speaking into the device is shown in an elaborate visualization of sound waves. Lots of explosions at the end with aliens yelling 'droid'.

Apple Director: Show real life examples based on the phone the whole time. Appeal to the end user.

Well it may be just me, but I find talking to a phone as though its a person, to be disturbing. Let alone taking advice from it, or having it educate me. These Apple ads actually discourage me from getting a 4S. I am yet to see people on the street using Siri, seems I am not the only one that feels ackward talking to a phone. The most accurate out of all the ads so far what the samsung one, with people lining up for a product launch, that made ma laugh.

Ping? I'm not convinced...

Ah, I see you've read the script for the UK and Australian version of the advert.

Totally agree. For me at least, Siri is fine for alarms and reminders, but not much else.
Yes.. it's still in beta, but I found (with an English accent) that the 'Evi' app understands much better, but lacks functionality. Here's hoping Siri improves this year

I'll have to agree with others. Siri works ok or reminders and timers, but not much else. Still seems too inconsistent to use on a regular basis.
