Ah well, ye olde Late '08 MBP is still holding out, my biggest beef is the battery, should have held out 'till that spring...

Darn darn darn darn... :(

My Mother-In law saw my late-08 13" MBP last month and said "i want one of those!"

So... heh heh... I knew the updates were coming out, so I convinced her to buy my old one for 1k, so I could upgrade to a nice, new, upgraded 13" with AT LEAST an i5.

But my evil master plan has been foiled!

I'm 99.99999% sure there won't be any mention of the laptops at the April 8th event. People, you have to look at history to infer the future.
March 17, 2009, Apple introduced iPhone OS3, and on March 3, 2009, the iMacs, Mac Pros, and Mac Minis were updated silently.
March 27, 2008 Apple introduced iPhone OS2, with the software roadmap. A week later, the iMacs were updated, silently.
Therefore, if the MacBook Pros and Mac Pros are to be updated soon, it would most likely be a week or two after this event, because it's too late for it to happen a week or two before this event. Bring optimistic, it might just be updated in Friday April 9, but I doubt that.
I'd put my money on April 12-13 or april 19-20.
Gee, was I right or right?
Anyway, unlike everyone else, I'm pleased with the update. While the 13" didn't get arrandale, it got much better graphics with higher clocked C2D's.
They also have the higher res display on the 15" like all of you asked for , so stop complaining.

WOW 13" models got screwed over big time!!!!

way to go apple for making your products suck!!!

I am surprised there are SO MANY people

NOT READING THE SPECS!
there is NO i7 in the 17" model.

Um, you might want to check the 17" BTO option ;)
You know, the bit that says
.4GHz or 2.53GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 3MB shared L3 cache; or 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 4MB shared L3 cache

Do previous MBP get the inertial scrolling that the new MBP do (which the magic mouse has)?

Agreed, but this is Apple.

I am surprised there are SO MANY people

NOT READING THE SPECS!

There is no i3 or i5 in the 13" Macbook Pros, and there is NO i7 in the 17" model.

People have been waiting so long that they aren't even bother reading the specs before they are buying.

Yes, there is an i7 in the 17".... It's build to order though (http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC024LL/A?mco=MTc0Njg1NzI). There's also an i7 in the 15" (http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC373LL/A?mco=MTc0Njg1ODE).

13" MacBook Pro
- $1199: 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA GeForce 320M, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive
- $1499: 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA GeForce 320M, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive

$300 for another 70GB and a little faster processor? No thanks.

Pot, meet kettle. i7 is a CTO option on the 17".

There is an i7 in the 17" but it's a BTO option. Try configuring one, you get the option.

Most important feature:

On-demand performance.

Off-the-charts efficiency.

The 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models come standard with automatic graphics switching. It’s a breakthrough technology from Apple that switches graphics processors on the fly to give you performance when you need it (when you’re playing the latest 3D game, for example) and better battery efficiency when you don’t (such as when you’re reading email). MacBook Pro transfers the workload between the powerful discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor and integrated Intel HD Graphics so seamlessly, you won’t even notice. Whether you’re using applications like Aperture, Motion, or Final Cut Pro or just surfing the web, your MacBook Pro always knows which processor to use. You don’t have to log out, shut down, or change your preferences. Automatic graphics switching does it all for you.

Breakthrough technology from Nvidia not Apple....

How so in 2010? Are you saying apples itunes offering would be better than have a bluray player/burner?

Price up again in the UK where I work. I'd say it was unbelievable but it's every time Apple release something now over here that the price goes up. The pound has rallied from 1.30 to the dollar to about 1.55 since the last update too so they should have been cheaper than they were!. Tw@s. If only there was a greater choice in OS's I'd give Apple the bullet at the drop of a hat.

Ah but don't forget all the discounts we enjoyed when the pound was trading at well over $2 a couple of years ago. No wait - we got shafted then too!

The new 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models feature Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and Apple's new automatic graphics switching technology that toggles seamlessly between powerful NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and energy efficient Intel HD Graphics processors.

I love the way they rebranded nVidia's OPTIMUS technology as an apple technology...

I agree. The standard graphics now uses shared memory. Seems like the MB/MBP are going backwards in technology instead of forwards.

The nVidia 7400 in the last generation laptops used shared memory too. On this point we went backwards a long time ago, back when the first intel Macbooks came out.
