If you can't see the difference, then you need to have your eyes checked grandpa.

or maybe you should just read ANY article about screen resolution. manufacturers of televisions DON'T make 15" tvs in 1080p for this very reason. Good luck going to a brick and mortar retailer and finding any selection of 15" 1080p tvs.

oh, and ps. im in my upper 20s, grandpa.

AND im isf certified. do a little research on that, then ill let you sit at the big kids table to talk.

Hi res 1080p 17"

Did the 17" already boast a 1920x1080 LCD ? Cause that's full-HD on the go, folks.

Nice to se a new, cris 1680x1050 on the 15" too.

But what about the MBAir ? Kinda out of the race, isn't it ?

Hmmm, have they lowered their margins somewhat on the memory? $400 to go from 4 gig to 8 no longer seems like an awful deal (at least, in that it doesn't seem to be significantly more worthwhile to just chuck the old set and buy a new one retail).

I have to say the 13" update is extremely disappointing on several fronts, and I'm certainly not unrealistic in my expectations.

  • Still stuck on C2D.
  • Around £100 price increase, despite the fact that the exchange rate on the dollar has got significantly better.
  • 1280x800 just doesn't cut it anymore. I was hoping for a significant resolution bump.
That's all I really wanted, and I would have upgraded. Fortunately I've got a mid-2009 13" MBP right now, so I don't need to update. I'll skip this and wait for the real update.

Dear All,

Well I skip this update. Will Apple ever goes quad-core? I have no desktop and do everything with my Macbook pro, and I run heavy applications like CAD and logic pro. So some find it useless in a laptop but I would really welcome a quad-core.

With kind regards,
Bas

Woohoo.!

I just ordered the high-end 15 " MacBook Pro core i7 :D Looking forward to a more speedy Macbook Pro :D A nice way to spend $ 2900 dollars (That price is with norwegian customs fee ) Woohoo, a bit more expensive then if I went to USA and bought it, but no problem need a MacBook Pro with core i7 :)

WOW!

13" Macbook Pro BOUGHT!!!

4GB and i5 in a 13" model for 1199? SOLD.

Fantastic update and was more than I was hoping for.

LOL This was probably the best reaction post I've read here at MacRumors. Poor guy.

Awesome, looking forward to see real world benchmarks from these!

I hate it that now the MBPs not only have an 8 hour battery but also automatic graphics switching. My 1 and a half year "old" Unibody's battery only holds like an hour and a half and I have to logout/login each freaking time I unplug or plug it back to the power adapter (so like 6 times a day) to swap graphics or else the battery runs out even faster!

I think this is a great update but I'm sad that the "older" unibodies won't be getting automatic graphics switching, even if the hardware supports it!

OH and these new bastards also support up to 8GB of RAM! Who said Macs go obsolete within 3-5 years? It's one freaking year!

Is it a typo on Apple's website, or are these new i5 and i7 MBP still just dual-core machines?

If it is correct, don't expect similar performance like you get with the highly praised i5/i7 iMacs.

IMHO using the same term for a dual-core and a quad-core machine is a bit misleading and could generate a lot refurbished MBPs due to people returning it, when they realize their mistake.

The iMac is a desktop, and the MBP is a notebook, you can't expect the same technology in different machines. The dual-core i5/i7 are MOBILE variants of the processor... this has been known all along and is not a gimack madeup by Apple. Seriously, you had months to read up on this stuff (don't act like you didn't care, you're posting at 6 in the morning PCT). The mobile variants are still much faster than previous C2D chips because of Hyper Threading. This update isn't what it was rumored to be, but it never is... We got concrete upgrades that were expectable and at least bring the MBP closer to being up to date (though I really believed blu-ray would be included judging by some of the rumors).

completely agree. can't believe they'd shortchange the 13" this much. if they at least where going to do this, they should lower the price on the 13". there is very little incentive to upgrade on the 13".

No new Mac Pros

damn, they are ways more outdated than the current, uups former MBPs.

Aarg, I forgot Apple has become a mobile devices company.

Would the MacPro qualify as a mobile device, if Apple puts a 12 pounds car battery in it? :p
