I've never really used android much but is it like super half baked? cus they add features in no time and apple drags its feet forever.

Apple can’t even get FaceTime to work with ONE call. I used to use it constantly, on different networks, using different devices and it always ended the same: video that was as reliable as a deadbeat dad on Father’s Day.

Skype for me. FaceTime is Apple’s biggest abomination of an app from my experience. The ghost of Steve Job’s infamous keynote lives on.

I’d rather have it working right than something half-baked. I’m looking forward to the feature whenever it releases. I doubt I’ll ever FaceTime with 32 people simultaneously, but 4-5 max is very realistic.

How is this so hard to do? Google Hangouts had this years ago, same with Skype. Even Discord already has it and it's a relatively new app. It's going to come out with iOS 12.4, like AirPlay 2. "See it's out with iOS 12!" is what someone will basically say, but in PR-speak.

And yet another briallant idea
Let’s announce it, and the price and wait to actually release it “2 years from now”

Just like AirPower... lol

Interesting that Apple had already allegedly moved features back to iOS 13 to focus on performance for 12 and still can't manage that more limited feature set they've attempted.

Flip side is, its the right move, I only want this in when it works properly...

Well thats the only feature i was looking forward to... guess will be happy its just faster and less bug ridden

And in past years we have all complained when they release on schedule with bugs and we need to spend the rest of the year hoping they'll get fixed.

I'm much happier they give us a heads up on what's coming and deliver it once it is completed. Less interested in getting stuff delivered simply because they announced it, but it is so buggy it isn't worth using.

Or maybe, just maybe they should recalibrate and go back to announcing features when they’ll actually be ready for launch. It’s one thing if it’s a rare occurrence, but now it’s a pattern where Vegas should start having an over/under on which, feature(s) will be delayed and when they might actually appear. The AP 2 delay was ridiculous and absurd. I also called this exact situation when iOS 12 was announced.

Either I’m a genius, or this was incredibly, incredibly predictable.

Apple doesn’t seem to have enough experienced and highly knowledgeable programmers to have quality control.

This. It's obvious since iOS 8-ish that there's a new "generation" of programmers on iOS now. You can see "the kids" code everywhere. Music app is a friggin' mess and has the stupidest bugs and inconsistencies. Keyboard touch targets are inconsistent everywhere. Springboard is "too fluid" and literally floats with their multi-layered design. Spotlight is a face-palm every time I use it. We know how bad Siri is (even tho the back-end engineers have done a MARVELOUS job at the massive infrastructure; somewhere in between the awesomeness just dies). Memory and process management seems to be taking a hit. Bluetooth was just baaaaad before iOS 11.4. It's still not great, but my AirPods have been behaving better since 11.4 now.

All the "backend" hardware interface stuff is rather solid. The front-end stuff (UI and UX) stuff is just painful.

For venting one day, I complained to my Android-weidling teammate, and he came back at me with "OMG *you too*?? My Music app is just as bad!". We have almost the exact same gripes, which makes us wonder if the Music app on both is a shared codebase now. The two are eerily similar, both in functionality and bugs. This gives me great concern for Apple.

It's clear that the CV review process for iOS development jobs at Apple has a leaky sieve. I'm more cautious that optimistic, and I've only been a fanboy for about 10 years. I can only imagine how you old-timers must feel!

Heh, I wonder if Apple would respond positively to a Change.org petition! :)

I was hoping for at least audio group call.

Yeah man, grab everyone by the d***tip with this astonishing insight and make it rain.

The bean counters want to hold it off to save on the server cost until we’re fed up enough

They probably found out they had to allocate more than 5GB per user on their servers to handle it. At least it wasn't touted as any big deal...
