Great, so don't promise features in June 2018 for iOS 12.

It's really not that difficult. It's about setting right expectations.

They said it would be in iOS 12. That means any time between it's released in Sept until iOS 13 comes in Sept 2019. They haven't broken any promises.

Considering iChat on the Mac (remember that one?) had this ten years ago this is embarrassing for a rich company like Apple. Time for them to go almost bankrupt again.

I was looking thru the post to see if someone had mentioned this...

How hard can it be? They are working with in-house technology. Have unlimited spending money for development.

And year after year under Tim Cook's leadership, features are announced, then delayed.

But we get new emoji's every year like clockwork, because the world needs a poop emoji.

Not another feature delayed... the worst thing about it is nobody knows how long it will be now with the recent delay lengths... could be until iOS 13 ;)

Insert comment about how Steve Jobs would have never allowed this, and how we'd have 64 person facetime by now.

Oh great, I guess we'll see this next May like we did with AirPlay 2.

You know Apple, you really don't have to make it work with 32 people at launch. You could start with 4 which is the max that 95% of people will probably use. 32 is insanity.

But I don’t think that’s the point, I think Group FaceTime should be released when it’s ready as a whole, because they promised said amount of people being able to use it. They shouldn’t have to make any compromises to reduce the amount users just because group FaceTime is not ready as of yet.

Also, I’m not sure about four being ‘95% of the people use group FaceTime’. For larger families and even companies really could take advantage of something like this.

When i worked at Maersk we had conference calls with up-to 30 people very often.

Another year of pathetic software from Apple. After decades of dedication I’m hanging up my fanboy hat.
So let me get this straight:

Apple Releases Feature X with Bugs in it. Haters are out with torches and pitchforks.

Apple Pulls Feature X from Beta, says it's not ready for Prime-Time yet. Haters are out with torches and pitchforks.

Is that about it?

No biggie, Apple. Iron out all the bugs

I agree. I think it's irresponsible and sloppy to release something that is too buggy or not performing as expected -- and it hurts brand worse than just delivering it late, too. I'd rather have the feature when it's ready than have it now. Ideally, they wouldn't announce it as part of the release and then have to change course and delay it, but sometimes it happens, not a huge deal. :)

Larger families, perhaps. But I doubt many medium/large organizations use FaceTime. Without the ability to share screens, files, or draw on a whiteboard, FaceTime is not a serious business tool.

This is a great example of Group FaceTime. Because you have employees that are spread abroad and what not a better way to have them congregate over group FaceTime to conduct business versus a just a conference call. When group FaceTime does release, Apple will make sure it’s right and I would rather have them wait until it is fully ready.

Instantly calculating the size of a folder was a promised feature of HS but it's still not here. Both Craig and Tim have destroyed macOS and iOS. Tim's only success is the market valuation of Apple and let's see how long it survives...

The world isn't binary.

How about meeting expectations and releasing features on-time with few bugs?

It's probably one of those features that will be very popular in business not only with typical consumers.

I’m not sure why group FaceTime in every situation need to have a whiteboard or drawing. Perhaps it’s brainstorming or discussing details. Someone else above just gave the example of having 30+ employees on a conference call, clearly this would be an advantage in that area. I think you’re going to find out every company will vary differently in using Group FaceTime. It Doesn’t have to be a ‘serious tool’ to not be able to take advantage of something as an available feature if needed.

Apple to reinvent the apple. Based on current practices of announcing features that come much later.

"It'll be the greenest, most delicious fruit imaginable, and we'll deliver it in September." September comes and goes. The newly improved fruit is released, in green, but tastes like a banana. "The flavour is taking us some time, we anticipate it to be released sometime in May next year. If you're in the UK or Canada, August two years time."
