As someone who complained about iOS 11 being released unfinished, I’d be hugely hypocritical to complain about this. Make it solid Apple and release it when ready!

Right? So what if it come in 12.1 or 12.2, if it’s as solid as the WWDC demo when it comes out who really cares?

"Why would anyone want to call 32 people?"

"It's for marketing and PR reasons."

"Table that feature and focus on the real stuff, please."

This is ios11 all over again. The apple of tim cooks reign.
Does ios12 and especially Mojave have any features at all? A dark mode for Mac and some animojis for iPhone. I mean. Really. A whole year after ios11

Missing announced deadlines is a big problem, especially for enterprise and "pro" customers. Apple needs to get its act together when it comes to feature announcements.

It's not necessarily about the feature itself, it's that this is starting to be a growing trend for Apple, like promising features at iOS launch and delaying them. It just hurts your credibility overall.

Imessage in the cloud / airplay 2 / airpower charging stand / even homepod had delayed launch and somewhat incomplete software.

It's better for them to just not present these features/products if they are not sure they can't deliver them. For example, i really wanted imessages in the cloud, i wanted this feature since my 4s days and they delayed it for almost 1 year.

Considering iChat on the Mac (remember that one?) had this ten years ago this is embarrassing for a rich company like Apple. Time for them to go almost bankrupt again.

New features and stability are what I’m after. Loading apps ever so slightly faster isn’t gonna do it for me, so yeah I will continue to whine thanks.

It isn't like your not going to get the new feature; it will just be delayed, it happens.

Seriously though. This is just one feature. Who cares.

But what it does underline, combined with all the mess that ios11 (over promised, delivered late and buggy) was is that Apple has become the IBM of the 2010s: a large, too large, bureaucratic org that can’t build even the smallest things anymore.
It’s not like ios12 is bursting with features to begin with. It’s not like Apple doesn’t have enough employees or money.
It’s a clear sign of misorganisation in the whole C-Level suite down to a too fat middle management org where people don’t have clear responsibility areas anymore. Typical big corp.

All the folks complaining that Apple software has become too buggy now complain when Apple delays a feature to make sure it isn't buggy. With something as complex as this, there is always the chance that something will pop up that can't be fixed in time for the final release. When it comes down to it, you're not only talking about the timing for the release of iOS 12, you're also talking about the release of new iPhones, new iPads, and macOS Mojave. With so much integration and interlocking dependencies, it makes sense why the feature was delayed.

Would it have been nice to see Group FaceTime ship with iOS 12? Yes, but I would rather Apple get it right then ship something buggy.

Totally agree. One of the things I loved about Apple was that they were not promising anything. They just released it when it was ready and it was usually working well. Not anymore. That AirPower charger thing is ridiculous. Ok, it is probably hard to develop multi-device wireless charger, but they were not aware of that last September?

Keep telling yourself that is all that is happening with this update...

Sometimes you run into issues in the QA stage.

Just stay on the older Beta?

Betas expire. Additionally, if you're the only one on the old beta, it's not going to do any good. On top of that, it's a function of the FaceTime server, not just the app. They can turn it off at the server and it doesn't matter if you're running an old version or not.

Great, so don't promise features in June 2018 for iOS 12.

It's really not that difficult. It's about setting right expectations.
