This is very good. Apple as a retailer has a right to decide what to sell or make available in their store. This doesn’t mean people using an iOS device can’t use Parler. They will have to use a browser but it can be done. Steve Jobs explained this during his last appearance at All Things D.

The point is that private companies can be compelled to uphold societal values - also that court cases are light on jpeg use.

This is such a disingenuous and reductive argument.

As a strong free speech advocate, I criticize communication platforms that pretend to be a neutral ground but moderate with bias and don't uphold free speech on their platform. Especially when those communication platforms are the primary communication method used by my country's politicians, who use the service to champion the lack of free speech on that platform. It doesn't take a lot of thinking to see the direct implication of politicians doing such things.

No, I do not think my free speech rights have been violated because Twitter banned Donald Trump or Apple banned Parler or whatever. But who wouldn't take issue with politicians supporting the creation of a communication platform that increasingly silences their competitors?

Arguments like this say, "You should wait until the federal government has silenced you to speak out." No one who understands the value and fragility of American freedoms should make them.

This is what a leaderless movement creates, and it's useless at best. BLM needed a leader.

These are lies, dirty lies. Apple has told Parler that they need to make an attempt at moderating content that Apple does not allow on any app they distribute through the app store, period. They need to have a moderation policy. They need to TRY.

The problem with that is, Parler is literally a place that was set up to give white power neo nazi fascists who were getting kicked off of mainstream social media a place to go. It's the BUSINESS PLAN.
