Please explain*. Are you saying that in a Capitalist Economy, a Private Company actually has a choice in who they deal with?

Goes off to meditate on the terms Liberal Economy, Capitalist Economy, and the like...

* For Australians, the term "Please explain" has a very definite meaning, originating from this section of a 60 Minutes interview in 1996
And yes, the accent is 100% Pauline Hanson
She is Australia's equivalent of Ted Cruze, Josh Hawley and the Trump sons (except Barron, we don't know what Barron is really like) rolled into one.
Classic - I remember this well  And she's still in Parliament!

Did you miss the news that, after Sunday, with their host AWS booting them, that’s not an option, either.

And that’s just the thing about censorship - it never ends! It only ratchets.

And how about this convenient timing. It’s almost like 6 states shutting down vote counting, at the same time, with Donald Trump leading massively in each. And then, the next morning or over the next few days, somehow losing each and every one by a small fraction of his prior lead following massive violations of fair election practices and standards.

And you good Ger... liberals immediately falling right in line.

The total lack of shame in telling obvious lies with a straight face is the Leftist’s superpower.
Gonna leave this right here for you, written by the conservative.

Publicly traded. That's not the same as public sector, if that's what you're thinking.

I rather suspect that that even Public Sector organisations can decide who they want to deal with. For example a public school is well within their rights to expel a student who has threatened to harm students/teachers/the Principal.

Apple‘s removal of Parlor is a violation of the constitution. Apple has no legal right. Neither Apple or Google have any government power. Donald Trump is the greatest president this country has ever seen!!!❤️❤️. Republicans will make Apple, Google, Twitter and Facebook suffer.

No matter what side of the argument one lands on, these actions set a new precedent for communication gatekeeping and information sharing. How much power are we willing to yield to such gatekeepers?
Total. Is there any doubt about that?

As long as it’s their side.

Nobody should ever mix up “classical liberals”, for whom such censorship of ideas would be abhorrent and anathema, with Leftist “liberals”, for whom this is just another step toward “progress” - the kind of progress that has led to well over 100 million murdered by their own government over the past century.

As a complete outsider, there’s quite a lot of emotional reactions to this thread isn’t it? From extreme love (some users say things like “love it” 10x in the comments) to extreme hate.

The behavior is as if somehow, overnight, the final last war on earth was won or lost... same as when Trump won or now when Biden won... it’s like suddenly all problems are solved, no more debts, no more ailments, from here on all is fixed, life is good. It’s actually scary, quite scary.

I’ve actually never heard of Parler, but because of these news and the 24 hour warning, I did (and got the app too before it was removed) Great job and great example of Streisand-Effect 😁

Where would you put the bar, above or below threatening to kill the Vice President and Speaker of the House?
If a person did that, there's a thing called the FBI that is more than capable of investigating it, and prosecuting if need be.

The problem with your statement is that people like to credit the bad orange man with things he never really said. He says something like "we need to fight for our rights" and then triggered people on a forum claim Trump incited riots by calling for an insurrection.

Trump is a lot of things, but the media has never been content with just going after the real things he's done and said. They put so much spin on some of his innocuous drivel that would otherwise be easily ignored. They wanted to keep the liberal rage fire burning at all costs though. So on slow days, the bar gets set alot lower for whatever get used for rage fuel.

Too much spin these days, so no I don't trust anyone to hold the keys to the censorship lock. There's nobody objective enough to be responsible about it.

If Apple wants to start banning apps for content they don't like, I'm totally cool with them subsequently opting out of Section 230 protection & opening up iOS to 3rd party app stores. What they shouldn't be allowed to do however, is be shielded by Section 230 and simultaneously censoring content that they don't like.

I can't believe there are so many brainwashed idiots that support this move by Apple. Absolutely disgusting censorship based around lies and propaganda.
The same kind of people who deny that Leftist violence has been going on (and on and on), nurtured by oligarchic Big Tech which has not only passively hosted explicitly violence-inciting speech by major political figures, but donated millions and millions to the Marxist organizations promoting it.

Please cite the section of the US Constitution that applies.

But, you are correct. Donald Trump can walk on water, feed the masses with loaves and fishes, cure lepers and turn water into wine.

I'm not about to get into the intricacies of free speech and all the rest of it (on a forum dedicated to Apple products!), but:

Apple is a private company, they can remove anything that violates—or that they deem violates—the TOS of being on their private platform. And I assume that just like Epic, if said violations were to be corrected – i.e. Parler pinky promises to "moderate" hosted content from now on much like Twitter does (with their oh so effective moderation ), they would be reinstated to the App Store.

I don’t know why anybody would celebrate the banning of free speech.

This is the very definition of a dictatorship.

And it comes after 4 years of non-stop calls to violence from the other side of the aisle, which saw violence perpetrated for 5+ months this last summer.

This is insanity. Regardless of political affiliation, these moves should scare you.

Unless you have enough intellect to understand that free speech applies to the government censoring you.

You ever walked into someone's house, took a crap on the floor, and not been asked to leave?
