This is the NEW Apple, so it makes sense. I don't like it, but it makes sense.

None of the shows interest me and most sound like they are HBO-level explicit. No thanks.

That’s fine. I understand it’s probably worthwhile for Apple to remain relevant in the living room as only having an iTunes Store isn’t enough. They risked getting left behind. The service itself is a money drain. But the benefits could outweigh that.

But every Apple tech blogger is turning into a tv show reviewer. Lol. That’s where it starts getting silly. These are merely shows Apple pays for. I’ve seen some on here get really defensive about them. I think the shows are all the same as Netflix and others. Same people. Same community of actors. Just different wallets.

It’s like people have never seen an original show or something. Netflix and others has these by the hundreds. There’s no special Apple ingredient here. They’re not made in China.

Really, really enjoying For All Mankind. Such an interesting premise. Take a few important moments in the Apollo program, make them go the other way and see what happens.

I've recently binged the "The Space Above Us" podcast, which details every manned NASA mission - it's quite a good compliment to the show.

(and as an aside, if you're a voice actor who can do a passable Nixon or JFK impression, you'll never be out of work!)

Doing otherwise would have been an admittance that these shows are not good.

So your theory is Apple a would rather lose a few hundred million dollars on bad shows rather than on producing shows that may be better.

Makes perfect sense.

Said it BEFORE, I'll say it again.

ATV+ will be a $5B USD annual loss until they decide to kill it, perhaps 3-4 years from now.

The first two episodes of "See" get a D- grade !

About equal to the last (horrible) season of Game of Thrones.

GoT was a solid A up-until their last season, with some episodes A++ !

It will be fun reading this nonsense 10 years from now when it’s not only going strong but part of a services ecosystem that accounts for half of Apple’s revenue.

Thanks for the chuckle.

When Disney+ launches next week, AppleTV+ will be forgotten like a bad ex. 😂
Why? I’ve seen pretty much everything in their catalogue. The Marvel movies, for example, are all on regular rotation on cable and. So all Disney has going for it is whatever new content they create.

They can brag about their huge catalogue of content, but it’s meaningless if you e seen it already.

This doesn't really mean much. With so few shows in the current line-up they would be rather stupid to slim it. And cancelling shows at this point would make the limited amount of shows currently available much less attractive for viewers.

You probably are. I could not pass the 30 min mark.

TMS is a good surprise, it is OK but I liked it. For All Mankind I am still making up my mind, I'll give it some time.

You're a stronger soul than me. I couldn't make it past about 20 minutes. As soon as I got to the first fight scene and there is a blind guy standing in the forest grasping around, you know, because he's blind, and some other blind guy manages to tackle him, I was done. If I was a blind person I'd think the show was making fun of blind people. You SEE what I did there. Ridiculous show. Maybe we could have one called SWIM were people who can't swim are thrown into Lake Michigan.

Good value at that price compared to HBO, Showtime, etc. If they just have one hit show like a Game of Thrones, they will make a fortune. I can't stand watching network television any more with their commercials and horrible production value.

Good value at the price? Meaning Free?

If you are seriously thinking that paying 4.99 for like 12 episodes (total) of mediocre shows is worth the price compared to HBO and Showtime which have shows with like 7+ seasons and a whole catalogue of licensed movies to watch... smh.

I bet you also thought Beats was a bad deal. TV is going to be a huge success and I would bet that at some point in the not too distance future it makes Apple more money than the Mac does.

The Morning Show is exceptional, IMO, and we really like See as well. See is a little different, but that kind of show is bound to be. I've seen the first episode of GoT and it was frankly off-putting and bleh. After watching the second episode, See is definitely getting more and more interesting.

You must have missed Disney's earnings call today. They have announced that they will create an unprecedented amount of new content in the next year. Tim Cook is no dummy and neither is Bob Iger.DIS is up more than 6% after hours so not everybody shares your pessimism.

Might be best to give them a try before judging? Many people are pleasantly surprised after having formed a pre-judgement conclusion, too.

I'm not surprised they green lit more seasons, I mean... Let's launch a new streaming service, and pay tons of money for new shows, and let's start cancelling them? I don't think so.

I may be alone in this but I genuinely enjoyed the first 3 episodes of See. I thought it was beautifully shot and the plot is very unique. Action sequences are well done and I can see the two kids ability to see being like a super power in a cool and unique way in future episodes. Excited for more. Also Snoopy In Space is phenomenal.

You're alone.
