I wish we could have had a full season ready to go at launch of these two shows, the drip-feed of content is an interesting choice.

I imagine it is to keep people subscribed. If you could binge everything in 30 days, you'd have no reason to continue your subscription until the next year's season dropped.

Netflix could afford to drop a whole season of their original content because they had a huge back catalog to keep people subscribed.

It's so annoying when they announce or gets leaked that their going to be a sequel when the show hasn't even been out that long. It does spoil it.

I am going to assume it is the production schedules and contracts. I would imagine all the creative staff and talent have contracts that require they be renewed by certain dates or they become "free agents". So even though the first episodes are now releasing, it may very well have been a year or longer since productions started so the contract "go / no-go" dates are coming up.

And Hollywood leaks like a sieve so there would be no way for Apple to keep it quiet, so might as well announce it themselves. :)

When Disney+ launches next week, AppleTV+ will be forgotten like a bad ex. 😂

I have three years of Disney+ locked in via the D23 offer, but I intend to keep Apple TV+ because Disney+ does not have "For All Mankind". :p

You probably are. I could not pass the 30 min mark.

TMS is a good surprise, it is OK but I liked it. For All Mankind I am still making up my mind, I'll give it some time.

The first two episodes of See are largely setup pieces and it gets better as you progress. The third episode is where it wowed me and now I’m hooked!

Finally watched The Morning Show.

The first 8 words of dialogue were: "Fred, what happened. So that's it? Mother f***."

I thought people said Apple TV was going to be cutesy family shows with no violence, swearing or sexual content?

I give the first episode a 6/10. Not great, but not bad. Will watch a few more to see if it gets better/more interesting. My wife liked it a lot more than I did.

wait until you see the lady masturbating to pray in see...

And the scene in Dickinson between Sue and Emily...and another episode with Emily's brother taking care of himself.

Seems masturbation is the hot thing these days...

You must have missed Disney's earnings call today. They have announced that they will create an unprecedented amount of new content in the next year. Tim Cook is no dummy and neither is Bob Iger.DIS is up more than 6% after hours so not everybody shares your pessimism.

Not seeing what the obsession is with Disney. Setting aside the Star Wars and Marvel franchises, the rest of their catalog is nothing but duds and g-rated films/tv shows. They've had occasional successes such as Sixth Sense, but they are all movies most people have seen a hundred times that are now making the rounds on TNT, USA, etc.

So the story now is that despite a relative lack of success beyond their anchor franchises, they are going to somehow revolutionize streaming with content that will blow your mind away.

Yet the only new content they've announced so far consists of mostly reboots and animated films (i.e., the same shows they've been recycling for years).

I got into Disney when last earnings Iger said this would be the most important thing he ever did at Disney. I guess I will stick with his opinion and not yours. If you don't get it, that's okay.

For All Mankind is probably my favorite show, but I’ve watched the main shows and loved them!

This doesn't really mean much. With so few shows in the current line-up they would be rather stupid to slim it. And cancelling shows at this point would make the limited amount of shows currently available much less attractive for viewers.

It also avoids any signal to investors that Apple's production decisions under-performed. Until Apple gets to the point where they cannot invest in one show without dropping an existing show, I see few reasons why they would cancel a show. Will they ever report viewers per show -- snowballs chance...

I may be alone in this but I genuinely enjoyed the first 3 episodes of See. I thought it was beautifully shot and the plot is very unique. Action sequences are well done and I can see the two kids ability to see being like a super power in a cool and unique way in future episodes. Excited for more. Also Snoopy In Space is phenomenal.

I totally agree! It’s cinematic and well thought out with on location sets. Costumes are interesting and ornate, and to those who say that wouldn’t be a thing in a blind culture - clothing texture is a whole section of fashion and functional design in our world even. Also, I love your “super power” idea, that’s genius. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (Snoopy In Space; I aspire to such greatness 🙌🏻)

The fact that you personally do not like shows that you have not watched does not mean that other people do not like them. Could it be that the enough people are watching to to justify renewing them?

But yeah let's go with your illogical conclusion that Apple decided to renew poor performing shows and risk prosecution for securities fraud simply to make it appear to investors that a tiny percentage of its operations are not doing well.

You're alone.
Well See has a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 83%, so 5 out of 6 like it, out of hundreds of responses.

I infer you don’t like it, but I am curious why you would think that your opinion would be shared by the viewership at large? Is it possible you’re overestimating its value, as it relates to how generalizable it is to the greater population?

Investors aren’t reading tea leaves trying to figure out whether to buy, sell or hold based on anecdotal feedback from those who haven’t seen these shows, or on series renewals. Or rather, if they are, good luck to them and their crystal ball. Flipping a coin would likely work out better.

There are more than a couple posts in this same vein, but if you look at the audience ratings for these new shows, is it any surprise at all they’re being renewed?

Apple doesn’t give a crap if a few or few dozen (or few hundred) don’t like The Morning Show when it’s got a 95% Rotten Tomatoes audience approval rating. Dickinson is at 94%. The lowest rated is See at 83%.

As Apple has more and more hits, I suppose those in the Apple-hate crowd are going to be increasingly salty. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s weird, PBS streaming is also $5 a month and if there was half as much good (well rated) content on Apple TV plus as there is on PBS folks would be screaming that it’s must have service of the year. I don’t get it.

That is weird. Where were you 2.5 years ago lol? Sounds like Apple could’ve saved themselves a lot of money if they’d only known PBS had the market for $5 streaming channels all sewn up.

Keep in mind that Apple also renewed a known-defective butterfly keyboard for 4 seasons (and going).

Admitting miserable failure is not their strongest attribute.

Dickinsons... What is up with the Bogus Accents and Linguistic Incoherence !... it is embarrassing... i tuned out after about 20 mins... could not take it anymore!

What demographic is this intended for?

i do enjoy, See, FAMK and Morning show...
