All I would like to know is the water resistivity or lack thereof for the Watch.

Is the what Apple is calling it? "The Watch" I like the sound of it. It is short, concise, to the point. Simple, sweet, clear, accurate, water proof.

Not to be a party pooper, but I'm just not interested in these devices. I really wish apple would listen to people on this site and continue developing their desktop line up and focus on making Mac OS 10 as great as it can be. That's what the mac experience is really all about. #

Dude, you're pooping

iOS and OS X work perfectly for me. Not a single problem. I'll be up a midnight to pre order the Apple Watch. The more of you who stay away from it, the easier it will be for me to get one. Waterproof, I don't need. I don't need to wear it in the shower.

It's actually hilarious to listen to you guys complain and point out why you won't buy it. Apple is actually aware of every single objection you have. Raising your objections here over and over again will get you nowhere. The watch will be what it will be in it's first generation. And Apple knows it will sell a millions of them without your participation. And they don't care. So, instead of moaning and groaning, find another solution that will make you happy. I promise you that Apple won't mind one little bit and your lost sale will be insignificant. You aren't nearly as powerful as you'd like to think you are.

Amen, dude! You just earned your boss rights. I'm annoyed by the complaints as well. :D

I still am guessing a March 10th Keynote, March 13th will be the preorder date (if they do preorders) and a March 20th launch date

I was really hoping we'd get the new MBA before March 3. We're taking a two week trip starting then and I sure would like to have it to take with me.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a longer than usual pre-order period to account for manufacturing specific color combinations at scale.

I went from iPhone 1 to 4S, soon 6S. The 3GS in hindsight would have been a worthy upgrade. It was iPhone v3.0. I look forward to Apple Watch v3.0.

March can't come soon enough! I hope the airs aren't too far behind! Probably not the best place to ask, but does anyone know if the watch has a camera/FaceTime?

Excited about the watch, but obviously would wait for reviews to jump in or perhaps wait the 2nd generation which could happen in 2017 if apple only sell apple watch for 2.8 million, imho.

Classic Apple - promising but proprietary, closed, expensive "standards" that never take off outside of Apple, live a short life and die a sudden death. They just keep doing it over and over.

Actually, I have a feeling Apple is doing this intentionally to force the standard bodies to innovate faster. After all, that's why Apple is trying to do things differently, there weren't anybody else doing it.

Without Apple doing the innovative closed technologies, the standards would've stay at the slower pace but it seems in the past few years, the USB group has been increasing the pace of pushing newer standards.

I think 2.8 million Apple Watches is a little on the low side.

Keep in mind, that's what they expect Apple to ship, not sold nor the estimated demands for it. There is no way in hell Apple can push tens of millions in a single quarter considering how many unique parts are being developed for the AppleWatch.

Look at the history of iPhone launches, they almost always sold out in the first week and you'd see a month delay of shipping for a while.

You're not being a party pooper, you're just not what this article is intended for. Apple isn't a small company that can only work on a single hardware project. They're definitely capable of producing more than a couple of hardware projects at the same time.

What they're not capable is multiple major software projects at same time apparently. Keep in mind, Apple isolates their groups, majority of the times, the groups do not know what the other groups are doing. That's how they keep the company surprised throughout the years and unfortunately, I have a feeling it is also the one of causes of the software quality issues lately.

Agree. 2.8 million watches -- way too low.

I agree. 2.8 million watches is way too low. There will be a waiting line (virtual and physical) that will be quite surprising.

On another note, folks are hung up way too much on battery life. My hunch is the Apple folks know who their target audience is on this one.

Water resistant is a given. Water proof unnecessary.

Folks will have two chargers: one at home; on at work. When at work, on the computer, the watch will be charging; when it's time for the meeting, on goes the watch; when it's time to go to the gym, on goes the watch; when it's time to drive home; on with the watch.

When home, the watch will be charging; no need to wear the watch when surfing the net on the iPad or doing work on a laptop/desktop.

The Type-C USB connector came about because of the Lighting connector. When USB 1.0 came out, it biggest critics said there was no peer-to-peer connectivity. There was only tiered client-device. While it made the production of desktop PC accessories cheaper, you could not do a "null modem" connect like old RS-232.

Type-C was a result of the transition to Mobile devices, Apple showing how it should be done and the power level failure of USB On The Go.

At times a 2x4 beat across the heads of a standards committee is the only way to change their thinking.

I will definitely be holding off until apple watch 2.

My needs:
wear in shower
wear while sleeping so I can track sleep and have a vibrating alarm so I don't wake up my partner.
36 hours battery life so I can wear at night

Sounds like you want a Fitbit, jawbone or fuel band.

That's a VERY Smart move!

I only say that due to Apple's compromised quality of recent years. They've done a stellar job of allowing it to slip down to the lowest level their avid customers will tolerate and still keep buying the product. A brilliant cost cutting move on Apple's part.

Although I once thought they'd never do such a thing, by allowing quality to slip, they've enhanced their ability to crank out a higher number of units further increasing both sales and profit. It's a balancing act they've pulled off quite well.

Knowing their faithful will advocate and make excuses for them, once again the clever number crunchers at Apple prevail.

That's a massive pain in the --- just for a bloody watch.

Luckily for us February is the shortest month!

And I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure there is no camera on the apple watch.

MacRumors forum users absolutely do not represent the mass market, thus making your suggestion negligible.

If this is true, I wonder if this signals a shift away from the Lightning connector. Apple wouldn't shift to USB-C for just one device. If they do ditch Lightning, that would be one of their shortest-lived standards. But USB-C at least will be more compatible across a range of devices.

Why would it? Assuming the rumor is true, the MacBook Air 12" is a laptop, not an iOS device. We've never had the 30-pin or the Lightning connector on OS X devices.

Or you're confusing Lightning with Thunderbolt which the new USB connector does indeed signal the phasing-out-of, at least in consumer-focused computers.
