I hope they don't give up the magsafe connector. Charging by usb may work, but magsafe is sure safer.

iOS and OS X work perfectly for me. Not a single problem. I'll be up a midnight to pre order the Apple Watch. The more of you who stay away from it, the easier it will be for me to get one. Waterproof, I don't need. I don't need to wear it in the shower.

It's actually hilarious to listen to you guys complain and point out why you won't buy it. Apple is actually aware of every single objection you have. Raising your objections here over and over again will get you nowhere. The watch will be what it will be in it's first generation. And Apple knows it will sell a millions of them without your participation. And they don't care. So, instead of moaning and groaning, find another solution that will make you happy. I promise you that Apple won't mind one little bit and your lost sale will be insignificant. You aren't nearly as powerful as you'd like to think you are.

Chill out bruh.

I'm a happy owner of a late 2010 MBA, but it's a 13 inch and I really like the display size. So I really hope they adapt the fanless design to a larger display in the future. My MBA still serves me well, but I look forward to a replacement in the future, and I won't sacrifice display size. 13 inch is the bare minimum for me.

What I am really curious about, and no one seems to discuss on posts about the 12inch MacBook.

What is the price point of the new Macbook going to be? and how is it going to fit into the rest of the notebooks.

currently we have:
11" MBA starting at $899
13" MBA starting at $999
13" rMBP starting at $1299

I am wondering what the new MacBook is going to cost. I imagine long term it will replace the 11" and possible the 13" MBA. Does this mean that the new 12" rMBA will cost < than the 13" rMBP and start at like $999. Would be pretty great if that was true, but seems unlikely apple would offer it so low.

When the rMBP first launched it was sold along side the cMBP for a year or 2. Where the rMBP costed $300-$500 more than the non retina. Will apple sell the new 12" rMBA along side the current MBAs for the first year. with the new 12"MBA costing a couple hundred more than the ($899-$999) that would land the price about equal with the 13" rMBP which seems a little strange.

Also, I feel apple will keep the current MBA form factor, so they can sell core i5 / 15W / intel HD 6000 line. But then I wonder will they update that MacBook Air line with retina display.

Then you would have -

12" rMBA (new form factor / fanless/ ultra-thin/ type-c/ broadwell-Y / core M / intel HD 5300/ 4.5W)

13" MBA ( same form factor as current MBA/ thin/ broadwell-U/ core i5-i7/ intel HD 6000/ 15W/ unsure if this computer will have retina or not/ or if it will exist at all.)

13" MBP (Macbook pro form factor / broadwell-U/ 28W/ core i5 i7/ iris 6100/ 28W)

15" MBP (macbook pro form factor / broadwell-Q/ 47W/ iris 6200 pro)

really curious about how the 12" / 13" are going to be priced

Update: and also what will the price point of the iPad Pro, and how is that going to fit in.
I am very confident that the iPad Pro and 12" Macbook are 2 different machines, with 2 different form factors, operating systems(platforms), CPU architecture/ and purposes

Is it true the iwatch can project holograms? If that's really true I bet they sell a lot more than predicted

Not exactly holograms, but using a Primesense 3D sensor to track your eyes position, the "iwatch" will use two pivoting micro projectors to project a large 3D image of the interface directly into your retinas. That's why they will call it a "retina display". :p

Only if the credit card purchase is below the merchant's limits for requiring a signature for contactless payments.

And if it's used as a debit card, it'll need the PIN.

That's because NFC payments emulate a card. The merchant's terminal doesn't care if you used Apple Pay, Google Wallet, Softcard or the actual card.

The merchant also doesn't know if you used a passcode, or fingerprint, or nothing at all on the device to enable your payment app.

Supposedly you have to enter a code to enable it each time it's put on a wrist.

Interesting, not that we have apple pay here in the UK yet but I'm expecting it to work the same as contactless, and we don't need a PIN for any contactless txns (limit is £20). I cannot remember the last time I signed for a card transaction..

The more I read the more I wonder if the UK won't see the watch at launch. I'd like to see Apple pay come first...

Q1 2015 should be Fiscal Q2 2015 for Apple. I now wonder if the 61 million iPhone prediction is for Fiscal Q1 ( the results to be announced in a couple of days ) or Fiscal Q2.... Confusing...

I'd bet that the price will sit right below the 13rMBP and above the 13MBA so at around $1199. They could place it at $1299, wouldn't surprise me with how Apple tends to overprice their first gen products anyways.

Why would it? Assuming the rumor is true, the MacBook Air 12" is a laptop, not an iOS device. We've never had the 30-pin or the Lightning connector on OS X devices.

Or you're confusing Lightning with Thunderbolt which the new USB connector does indeed signal the phasing-out-of, at least in consumer-focused computers.

Yep. Jayducharme was confusing the two ends of the cable.

I could see the new 12" starting at $1199. 4GB RAM 128GB SSD.

and then maybe continuing to sell the 13" MBA (nonretina) for $999 and possibly update it with a broadwell CPU

this seems likely only it would be a little odd, that the 13" notebook would be more powerful and cost less than the 12"

Look, nobody said iMac was stupid.
It started the iEra and marked the beginning of Apple's road to dominance
Nobody said the iPod was stupid.
Nobody said the iPhone & iPad were stupid.
I love all of those devices and 3 out of 4 of them are world changing.

This? This is stupid.
Apple Watch was made completely without Steve's knowledge/input/blessing.
Proponents say it's great that you can get notifications without having to look at your phone.
Really? How lazy are you?
Has marketing brainwashed you enough that you think such an ability is a substantial thing?
You actually think that's a big deal, having the ability to read phone notices on another device?!?
And is having that ability worth, at minimum, $350 to you?

Couple this with the MAPS fiasco and the Beats aquisition and you have
the makings of a resume of an incompetent CEO.
The stock price has risen in spite of Tim's efforts, thank Christ.

The issue is on the bank side, not the purely tech side. Right now, if you have a US bank account at a bank that supports it, I think you can pay with Apple Pay in the UK (you can in Canada) (someone tell me if I'm wrong).

They will announce Fiscal Q1 2015, which starts October 1 I think, Why? So, their results match their release schedule probably. Also, a bit of the release sales get put into Q4 of the previous year that way.

The Apple Watch will be a huge hit. Everyone I know wants one. I expect it to sell out immediately and take longer to reach supply and demand equilibrium than did the iPhone 6/6+. Just as the original iPad blew past predictions, so will this watch. I am buying 5 day one. (I also want the 12 inch rMBA with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD drive.)

Ya I think this is right on. Can we also include the overpriced acquisition of the former CEO of Burberry? To some, Apple already has a reputation as being on the higher end of the market.. So what does Apple and Tim Cook do, they go out and hire the former CEO of a clothing designer brand that screams excessive and overpriced products. This whole venture into the "fashion" world by Apple was completely unnecessary, and their trying to shove an already proven failed idea in a smart watch down their loyal customers throats by trying to create through a blitz marketing campaign that somehow this product will be anything other than a really expensive completely unnecessary accessory to an incredible device (iPhone). Sorry, I just don't see it.

Even if the market for smart watches was already proven to be mature and something customers actually want, it's not and isn't, the Apple watch is just like all the others. What does it have that the competition doesn't? Apple will sell some of these, because some people will buy just about anything Apple puts their names on, but in the long run, if they do not develop a breakthrough piece of technology to put inside of it, it will not succeed. Those who don't currently wear watches need an incentive to put one on their wrist. Only the truly irrational Apple fan would think the Apple Watch or any other smart watch as currently constructed is it. Notifications, haptic feedback, smiley faces, and the number of steps taken? Big deal. When did expectations get so low around here?

What happens if the purchase is above the contactless limit of £20 ?

Are you simply prompted to enter your PIN?

Or do you have to switch to a regular chip & PIN purchase using the actual card?

Not to be a party pooper, but I'm just not interested in these devices. I really wish apple would listen to people on this site and continue developing their desktop line up and focus on making Mac OS 10 as great as it can be. That's what the mac experience is really all about. #

Well for not wanting to be a party pooper, you just took a dump. The Mac experience is dead and it is the Apple experience now. Mac not needed for that.

I'll probably buy an Apple Watch, despite being fully aware that it'll have all the longevity of a loaf of bread. I'm not skint and very curious, so I'll probably plump for the cheapest option, likely with a bog standard strap I don't like, and dive in with a more attractive and expensive option when v2 comes along.

Christ doesn't affect stock price, so no need to thank him. And you don't have any way to know if Steve had input. If you don't want one, we don't care.

Okay... Wow, you are spectacularly wrong on just about everyyhing. The iMac was roundly criticized by the masses when it was announced, who would want a candy colored computer? The iPod was mocked for its price. The iPhone was mocked for its touch screen. The iPad was mocked for its similarity to an iPod touch. Just about every Apple product gets criticized when it's annonced. Then its released, people love it, they stop complaining and people go on with their lives. And Tim Cook is not an incompetent CEO. Apple's doing better than it ever has under his leadership. Was Apple supposed to lay down and die when Steve passed? No, we mourned, dusted ourselves off, and got back to work.
