I'm all for a larger screen but this curved glass crap needs to stop. What possible point would there be for curved glass? It would seem case designs would be a PITA with that as well.

I can't imagine Apple would release something with curved glass anyways.

Using curved glass for the screen is complete nonsense for obvious reasons. Yet, it might be interesting for Apple to shape the back of the device in a way that it could appear thinner, like the second iteration of iPod Touch :

And you'll be back, like so many Android users who continue to visit and comment on iPhone-related forum.

Haha when I read that comment about Samsung, I knew someone would post the typical "you'll be back" comment! Although I thought it would be on the first page. You iOS folks just can't accept that some people think Android is better. So predictable lol

Who would buy songs on iTunes when you can download them from Napster?

Why a touch screen on an iPhone when Blackberry and Nokia use keyboards?

Who needs a giant touch screen iPod when we have netbooks?

Your comment will be forgotten just like the rest that expressed doubt.

You didnt answer the question though - I'd also be interested in hearing an answer.

So why don't you tell us what benefit a curved screen would have of a flat screen?

The iPhone was a completely different device from the other phones at its time. The iPod (although I guess you mean iPad?) was completely different from netbooks. A curved screen is, just that, a curved screen.

Maybe it would allow Apple to design the iPhone in a smarter/different way, or whatever, but the curved screen itself would not benefit consumers. And, no, a curved screen in an iPhone would not be as revolutionary as, say, the iPad was.

They will deny ever saying such things, and embrace anything apple puts out. Don't forget all the folks who said the ipad mini was never going to happen because jobs said it wasn't. They have all crawled back under a rock, or have since changed their tunes and LOVE the mini now. It will never change.

I dont think its as simple as that. Some people would see it as "giving the consumer what Apple think they want" as opposed to "givin the consumer what Apple think they should want", and be a really clear signal of a shift in mentality at Apple. Nobody can answer "what would Jobs have done", but people who have really enjoyed Apple products under Jobs probably hold some shared values which arent seen in the majority of consumer products today (or society as a whole) and those people are afraid of what changes like this would mean. Its not that they are opposed to change, or to any particular product - its what that change or that product appears to signal.

The iPad mini is a great device, and maybe Jobs wouldnt have put out the iPad mini in its current form. Maybe he would have put out the retina version at first go - taken longer but gotten it right. Who knows.

I am neither here nor there about these things - they are just gadgets, but i do try to understand the people who feel strongly about these thigns without just making fun of them.

Stupid big screen. Don't need, don't want, not now, not ever. Go buy some junky phablet instead of ruining iPhone with this crap.

Hopefully they'll make a larger phone, and keep the 4" for the sooks.
I can't see why they couldn't do that, there's still a 3.5" kicking around.

I'll wait and see what is actually released as opposed to whining about what Apple should or should not do. From there, I'll make a decision if I want to buy something.

Then explain to me why so many Android users continue to visit the iPhone sub-forum. I'm not talking about the front page news like here (which isn't always iPhone-related) but they're all over the iPhone sub-forum as if they secretly wish for the iPhone in the form of Android.

Most iPhone 5 owners will be getting whatever Apple release in Sept. 2014. But the question remains, will this be available on T-Mobile?
lol very true but I don't see product limitation on USA carriers. 5S and 5C is available on tmobile right..?

what's the point of a curved screen? Larger screen? I can see that, but do not understand what a curved screen is for.

How does a curved screen help anyone with anything?

That will be the answer apple has to a larger screen. Remember how they said that wouldn't make the screen bigger till they figured out how to make it "right". So a curved screen might mean your thumb doesn't have to reach as far or something. We'll see.

A larger screen iPhone is coming, it's not if, but when. Perhaps they will keep a model of the current size too and people can chose either size.

I agree. :) And to offer different iPhone sizes to give the customers *finally* a choice would make sense. After all, we have an iPad and iMac in 2 sizes, :apple: Laptops come in various sizes, too.

I'll let you in on the big secret. Some people like technology and own multiple phones in a family. Some android users have ipads and macs. If you check out the droid forums there are iphone users over there also. Just because you own a certain brand of something doesn't mean you have to blindly buy it all the time. If you like technology you should appreciate what android is doing and be happy that there is competition out there. Don't buy into the marketing both operating systems appreciate each other and check out what works and doesn't.

More screen sizes will make it a lot more difficult for developers. I really hope they keep the same pixel density. If they don't, the fragmentation will be awful.

No! you cannot be logical about this! you must join all of us and jump to conclusions immediately about how much of a success/flop it's going to be and also if you're going to buy one or not because absolutely all of us are sitting here at our computers waiting for your opinion.

i kid. :D kidding aside, that is my gameplan but it's nice coming on here and seeing folks get their panties in a bunch over speculation.

I agree with you, and I don't even think they need to shrink the bezel. The iPhone is perfect as is (which is why it outsells all the huge screened Samsung phones put together: Samsung gets its big sales numbers from small screened el-cheapo phones.)

So as it's perfect now.
If Apple make a larger iPhone, you won't be buying one then?

Is that correct?

Apple has a better OS and phone. Samsung has better displays. When Apple makes a larger screen and shrinks the bezel it will be perfect. Probably iPhone 6 next year.

Once this is released, all those decrying the large Android screens will be pontificating about the virtues of a large fullHD screen on a phone and will all be rabidly praising Apple for inventing the large screen smartphone and about how no one in their right mind would want a smartphone with a small, low-resolution screen.

Some of us are former iPhone users and want Apple to introduce an iphone with a larger screen with a smaller dot pitch for full HD, and also want more storage.

The curved screen DOES NOT have any logical reason to exist at all, unlike those three you mentioned.

Maybe it will if/when Apple releases it. I doubt that they will make a curved screen just for the sake of making a curved screen.

Exactly! So why do some people find it so hard to believe that Apple will do the same thing with the iPhone? The 5S comes in 3 colors and the 5C in 5. Apple is expanding its offerings.
