Take a look at something like the Moto X. Marginally larger than the iPhone 5S with a 4.7" screen.

It's not 2010. You can cram a lot if screen into a tight fitting form factor these days.

I was astounded by how small the Moto X looked when I first saw it in person. Pulled out my iPhone 5s and compared and sure enough, the screen was larger, but the phone was relatively the same size.

I don't think this is true at all.
I don't think the top and bottom part of the bezel will decrease in size. The bottom part needs space for touch id. Apple won't have an assymetrical iPhone so the upper bezel will remain. Unless of course they figure out something I can't think of right now.

cool? it looks stupid.there is nothing even cool about it.

not going to happen.
it looks extremely awkward and un-ergonomic to use + there is zero benefit.

I've heard these types of comments before. "Apple will never make a screen larger than 3.5 inches" rings a bell:rolleyes: Let's revisit this post a year from now and see what comes to fruition. Unless you can see into the future? But then you would be a billionaire and have no need to waist you're time posting on an Apple product rumors board.

80s again?

Just please don't make the physical dimensions of the phone any larger. I want to know why we have to revisit the past's gigantic phones. Remember those monstrosities? Throw a chunky antenna on there while you're at it. I love Apple products, but this fad of massive phones is starting to get silly. I blame Samsung. lol

Am I the only one who things the Samsung model is too big for a smart phone? I find it awkward, don't really want an iPhone in that size.

I could see the iPhone eliminating more of its bezel, maybe using a software controlled dead-zone (so you still have somewhere to grip the phone without pressing icons etc., but can use the whole screen if you want).

Not sure what they should do with a the home button, but I wouldn't mind a much shorter, more rectangular button right on the edge.

Have you ever used a galaxy note for a few days??

I was only thinking recently what a comfortable design my 5th gen ipod nano is, and those prototypes are like a larger version. The narrow curved sides make it feel much smaller than what it is.

This! I can see them taking something like the remote for the Apple TV and making a curved iPhone that looks very similar in shape. In fact if you look at the mockup it looks like an oversized Apple remote with a screen:apple:

Looking forward to the release and the comments from all those iPhone purists who have been laughing at any screen bigger than 4 inches. :D
I am looking forward to cheers from the iPhone purists who have been wanting a bigger iPhone screen. It will be so fun to see them so happy.

Seriously

Just get an iPad mini and be done with it!

Seriously.... when does it stop. If I wanted to talk on my iPad Mini, i'd buy a galaxy (not really). I was critical of the iPhone 5 size increase but I bought in. Bigger than that, and certainly wider just seems like they should give the ability to talk on your iPad mini. I want a phone that fits in my pocket with a relatively good case. If they go bigger than the 5 - I hope they at least keep an option at current size with all the capabilities.

Just put a cellular chip in the Mini already, and all those clamoring for huge screens will (hopefully) go away.

Someone needs to take a picture of someone with an iPad (full size) held up to their ear...

"Mommy! Why is that man hitting himself with that thing?

Oh, that's just the new absurd phone. Just stay away from him. Lets walk this way..."

Or this

An example of how comfortable a 4.2" phone can be
BB Z10 might not be popular but it has a great balance between larger screen convenience and portability of a mobile phone.

what's the point of a curved screen? Larger screen? I can see that, but do not understand what a curved screen is for.

Exactly- curved screens are stupid

Whoa whoa whoa whoa Mr. Positive- where's the snarkiness? This is Macrumors!

Just kidding- yes I will be extremely happy when an iphone had a bigger screen.

I don't think their are any Apple "doubters". Most people know what size phone works right for them.

Some people use their phone more for voice and texting, for those people the current iPhone is ideal. Some people play games, browse the web, and check their Facebook page every 10 minutes. For them, a large "phablet" size device is more ideal. The former carry their phone in a pocket or purse, the latter in their backpack with their schoolbooks.

The only doubters are the people who chose Android.

There are no "doubters" .. um what about all the people saying the screen size now is perfect? My point was don't knock using a larger screen till you try it. I was also trying to show what a better comparison pic would be. Not a picture of a phablet but a phone that is closer to the the rumored iphone 6 size. The slight increase between .7-1 inch will not cause a drastic change in pocketing your phone. What if apple kept the same exact width of the phone just with a larger screen and smaller bezel ?

Thanks for the lesson on how a phone is used and the exact reason why having a choice in phone size is ideal. Apple is playing catchup at this point by sticking with a small screen.

A curved screen allows you to operate the iPhone with one hand by still being able to reach the other side of the screen with your thumb. That will be the unique selling point :)

LOL -

Apple's iPhone in 5.7" screen size??! You already know how pathetic that will be (see iPad mini/ipad air sizes) - what a waste of space.

Android and bigger screens is like honey and tea. Apple's iOS and bigger screens is like fly on ******.

It doesn't work and looks pathetically ugly unless iOS 8 does differently with the hone screen configuration. iOS works perfectly with tiny screen sizes only.

I actually own the new Note 3 after selling my iPhone 5 and let me tell you I will never go back to an iPhone again even if it is 6" screen size if they keep iOS the same way.

Android 4.3 is just great! Android phones > iPhones. iPads > all!

Too each his own, but there now way that every phone that runs Android is better than an iPhone.

That is really just your preference.

I'm thinking similar to the edges of the nexus 4. It makes sense with the new swipe gestures in iOS 7. That it is actually something I miss on the new nexus. It makes swiping from the edge very smooth...
Just want to say thank you to you, at the 38th post, for being the first person to really understand what was being talked about. Seems the majority of people are freaking out that their screens are going to be curved a la the new LG G Flex.
