Yup this will be the year they drop the 16gb base!!!

32gb at $299 though!

Kinda not what we all want :p

With Apple you can do it with one hand, but with samsung you need two hands. same for typing -- you can reach all keys with one hand where that is not possible on a samsung.

Sure it's possible.

If your thumb won't reach on a Samsung, you can simply turn on various one-handed options... like making the keyboard thinner and on whatever side you're working your thumb with.

I would not be surprised one bit if Apple also implemented similar options.

You believe what you wish but here, Apple just needs to deem anything THE way and it is THE way thereafter (until Apple changes). 3.5" was the chosen size by Apple and thus was deemed the way. However, had they made it 4.7" or 5.5" and spun it, it would have been just as readily accepted and we might be oohing & ahhhing at rumors of an iPhone mini with an unbelievable 3.5" screen so that we can use it with only 1 hand right now.

The spin is the key, not the practicalities of the time. Look at iPad as the mirror here. Apple spun 9.7" as the one and only perfect size of a tablet. Smaller would be stupid (and boy was that spun by the cheerleaders in countless threads here) right up until Apple rolled out the iPad Mini and then it was cutting-edge great: "Shut up and take my money". Why wasn't the first one at the practical size of the mini instead of the maxi?

It's just spin. "We" suckle at Apple spin like a baby at the finest momma's milk. Apple could roll out a triangular phone screen in a star-shaped phone body and "we" would gush at the perfection of the new Apple Ninja Star phone.

Ninja Star Phone sounds amazing! A combo phone/deadly weapon. Sign me up! :)

Really? Their investors would disagree. Apple and Tim Cook have been pushing China hard the last few years. Growth in the US is pretty much leveled out. Without worldwide growth, they would be in trouble. That is why I don't believe this article at all.

"Growth" is not the same as market share. You originally stated market share.

If 32GB isn't the bottom end, then fail. 16GB needs to go.

What happened to getting more storage we go on like hard drives and everything else tech?

16GB has been the bottom end since 2007!

Nah, the original iPhone came in 4 and 8 GB capacities and later added a 16. The iPhone 3G (2008) also had 8 gb at the bottom end. The 3GS (2009) became the first iPhone with the low end at 16 gb. But yes, it's been a while.

Sorry, I said that, not Apple, so it's got to be an "abomination" unless Apple would roll it out (then, it's the greatest phone ever).

And someone should call me a troll for suggesting any shape or size phone other than the current ones being sold by Apple right now because that's the rules too.;)

But then come to think of it, we could use this ninja phone to cut the other hands off those stupid 2-handed people using the other guy's bigger-screened abominations. Hmmmm. OK. I want credit for this if I've cracked the real iPhone 6 shape & size against the "doubled down" smokescreen of 4.7" and 5.5" brick-shaped phones. ;) too

Update: bigger pants with chain-mesh pockets for sale at ForTheNewNinjaStarIphone.com. Look for the deluxe version with edge sharpener belt loop.

Umm, 2012 when the iPhone 5 went up by £50? Used to be £499 now £549. Wouldn't be surprised if the 6 became £600.

This would suck big time.

The HTC One M8 is £530, S5 is £570.

I wouldn't want to see it higher than that, with both of those offering more memory (both storage and ram) as well as expandable storage.

If it was £599 unlocked with 32gb base I would be OK, but if they started at £599 for 16gb or much over £600 for 32 well, I might reconsider whether I can justify buying one!

I would not be surprised one bit if Apple also implemented similar options.

That would be one more thing for Google to sue Apple over if they copied it directly.

Still it seems that they want to make Siri a local service rather than a cloud service. Maybe the keyboard won't be so important in the future.

Then the keys become smaller, it's not a good solution at all.

1 gb ram? Really?? For $100 more? Some of these parts are so inexpensive now, it needs to be 2gb ram and minimum 32gb storage.

How can sales for the week be not what is expected if the device hasn't been on sale for a week yet.

And I have no problem with the S5 not being a great seller, if it's indeed, a fact. I was just hoping you'd link to an article that had more credibility - or at least reported the information more accurately.

Huh? Both are issues. I have no clue what you are trying to say. Are you saying international growth is not important? If so, then you couldn't be more wrong. Apple can't survive on US iPhone sales alone no matter what they price them at. This source is not correct. No way they could sale their flagship phone for $100 more. Perhaps the 5.x version they can. If the article is correct it will absolutely slaughter international sales.

You guys carrying on about consumer revolt forget that Apple makes the single most in demand phone on the planet.

If consumers wanted cheaper phones, why hasn't the iPhone 5c had explosive sales? Hmmm?

Consumers will ALWAYS pay a premium for the premier brand, and that's what Apple is.

For those of you who doubt it.. take this quote into consideration from just after the original iPhone launch..

Steve Ballmer said:
500? Fully Subsidised? With a plan? I said "That is the most expensive phone in the world".

Right now we're selling millions and millions and millions of phones a year, Apple is selling ZERO phones a year.. In
6 months they'll have the most expensive phone by far ever in the marketplace.. and.. let's see.

What we saw was that Apple has the product that means THEY get to set the price.

That's reality. No distortion field.

Yes, Android phones have bigger screens, and this and that and are amazing, etc etc but at the end of the day.. it doesn't matter.

Open up a newspaper. U.S. carriers aren't offering iPhone's for $99 with a buy one, get one free deal.

Because the iPhone is the *cool* phone.. and people will always pay a premium for cool.

got anything to counter that?

Can you please tell me why Samsung doesn't report S5 sales:confused:

If i was a Samsung fan i would be really pissed on them for keeping me in dark and LIES Shipped or Sold?

Samsung is corrupt. It really doesn't report anything itself re: even shipments, it has flunkies, I mean PR firms, I mean "respected guesstimators" (IDC, Gartner, Strategy Analytics) push bad "sales" numbers. That's just one of the reasons it has such a huge ad budget.

Only the original iPhone didn't take off UNTIL carriers were allowed to subsidize the iPhone.

So Ballmer wasn't entirely wrong. If Apple HAD stuck to the original plan, who knows if the iPhone would have been as ubiquitous as it was - in time- before competition hit the market.

Correct. The fall off in sales of iPhone 1 was so fast that Apple offered credits to the faithful to smooth over the potential uproar. Of course, "we" forget those kinds of details as fast as we can.

My 2-year Verizon contract for my iPhone 5 ends in November. Was excited about the iPhone 6 and was going to buy it no questions asked; if this is true i'm going to wait for the price to drop.

Like others said, better increase the base memory.
