At least it will be exclusive again... Seriously, everybody has an iPhone, it's not special anymore IMO.

Reviews about G2 seem to be OK with its software. If I dont like their UI, I'm sure there'll be a way to install stock Android on it.

At least I'll have a whole-day battery, I'm charging my iPhone 5 in the midday to get thru the day.. :(

iPhone Battery is the worst. Minute I use my camera it's dead in less than 2 hours...

If the base model at $100 is 16GB then no way. If it is bumped to 32GB then maybe.

Google Nexus 5: $349 off contract.

I'm a huge Apple fan and even I would have a hard time swallowing a $299 starting base price for a subsidized phone. That would essentially put the top capacity model at around $949-$999 off contract. $1000 for a pocket device is nuts. Really.

4.7" = 199$
5.5" = 299$
thats where the 100$ increase is coming from. Can anyone not see?? :confused:

BTW; if I'm ever going to jump off the iPhone ship, it'll be for LG G2 (or the new G3) not for the Samsung S5 crap. Both HTC One M8 and LG G2 runs circles around the S5, I'm sure G3 will be far far better than both.

So, I'm waiting for Apple to release the new iPhone 6; by that time the crazy release prices for G3 should have been neutralized, if Apple cant deliver a bigger screen and decent battery life, we'll see hows the life on Android land..

No. The $299 is for the standard 32Gb 4'7 inch phone. The increase comes from the sapphire display.

if there is a price increase

I'll either just do iPad only and a cheapie non-smart phone, OR iPad and the C version iPhone IF that C version phone is cheaper.

The iPhone is the one Apple product I do not get into a frenzy about, however, I won't pay more just to have a larger iPhone.

That would mean the larger iPhone will start out at a base price of $400 on contract. I just can't believe that to be true. They would be pricing themselves out of the market in the rest of the world and probably the US if they did that.

Steve Jobs was all about making money and selling product.
Apple is already losing marketshare and mindshare and cannot make inroads in emerging markets at their current price point.

To make money, you need to profit. Decreasing the price of your phones to the point where you are either sacrificing quality or breaking even on cost is stupid. And maybe I'm just reading the wrong reports, but it seems to me that Apple is doing quite well with the iPhone.

Reisinger? LOL. Samsung's ad budget at work. Do your own research instead of citing a blogging clown who is paid to write a puff piece.

It's selling terribly. Worse than the old Note3. Far worse than the G3. Samsung is freaking out at this very moment.

Why do you need a device you make calls on, play games on and seek information on needs to be special or exclusive?

It's human nature samcraig. People want something that everyone can't have or only a few.

I think I understand what the guy and others are saying. Even though Apple made millions of iPhones there was a time when you would see someone on an iPhone and think hey that's an iPhone, now if you don't see someone with an iPhone it's an odd event.

My son likes to wear Nike AirMax, so do I. I buy the ones I like. We were picking him some out and I was like I think these look good and he was like yeah they do but "friend name" has this color. He picks out some odd color to go with.

Not saying it's right or wrong but sometimes people want things that not everyone can have.

I'm having problem with the if they make the base 32GB then not having a problem with it. Isn't the 32GB already $100 more? They're not dumping the base but making you go up a tier. Memory doesn't cost that much. The base should be 32GB @$199 for all platforms.

I think like others have said that maybe the $100 is for the 5"+ screen which is understandable but at the same time Apple did increase the cost of ipad mini retina.

My son has a Nexus 5 and I'm trying to hold out to see what the iPhone6 will be but honestly I'm having a hard time convincing myself money wise that spending and extra $300 is worth it for an iPhone. I don't buy electronics as an investment so reselling isn't on my list as I would just pass it a long to another family member.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I just literally laughed out loud at this one! :D:D:D

Because it is sooooooo Apple if it's true, never cut on that huge markup EVER! Always rinse the public for every single penny you can.

Oh God, if they make the iPhone 6 even more expensive, my Nexus 5 will be even more of a bargain, and the iPhone will be INCREDIBLY overpriced.

As it is the iPhone 5S 128GB costs £709 which is MORE than a Mac Mini! If they increase the cost by £100 it'll be knocking on the door of the Mac Air!

Apple will affect it's already suffering sale, Outside America, worldwide Android has the lead and is increasing, and increasing the cost of an iPhone and using the excuse it's cause of the glass, something no one cares about cause they will be replacing the phone in 2 years or less, it's just ridiculous.

It's a classic case of, if true.... yeah good luck with that...

I doubt they charge customers more, I could see them charging more to telecoms for the subsidy. Either way, I'd probably pay it if the phone looks like the concepts we've seen.

In India it already happens!

In India it is already happening with every iteration of iPhone differentiates with its predecessor by close to $100-150 based on the memory. iPhone 5S is a dud and I am surf this would put the price close to $1500-$1700 for top end model (5.5 inches).
