While it may suck that Apple’s worsening lack of innovation (besides the upcoming VR/AR/Mixed Reality headset) is hitting a whole new low, at least I can give my wallet time to heal (and hopefully upgrade to a new MacBook Pro once it gets a major processor upgrade, OLED, cellular, and modern ports; my current mid-2012 15” MacBook Pro is obsolete and I’ll likely be forced to wipe it soon once Advanced Data Protection is enabled in Canada so I can use that feature)

Apple VR, I can see the fanboys now

Sounds like AR/VR Headset is a huge focus this year. With a completely new product category, Hardware, Software (both OS and apps), sounds like emphasis is going to center around this for the year.Huge mistske

This will prove to be a colossal mistake, IMO. The masses do not want a VR headset, and they’re simply not going to sell well at all. The entire project will have been for naught.

Makes sense, hower I find a lack of Airpods Max 2 pretty weird.
Would be kinda strange to have your flagship product with older technology than the "consumer" version.
I'd expext a combo release of USB-C Airpods Pro and Max.
Let's remember they also need to ditch lightning on the keyboard and mouse, so I'm hoping for a redesign of the magic mouse.

Good thing my 11” iPad Pro 2018 is still such a good device. I can hold out for another year with this thing.
That is truly peak iPad. You probably get 99% value compared to current iPads.

I'm still hanging on to my 9.7" iPad Pro 2016, which is gasping it's last breath, but with the line being so stagnant the past 4 years I'm not motivated to upgrade. I spend most of my time on my iPhone or M1 MBA at this point.

Good. No need to ‘upgrade’ a product for yet more minor features. A lot of these products are hitting diminishing returns anyway, I mean what more can you do to an Apple TV apart from make it cheaper?
Make it cheaper would be a good start. Apart from that clearly more power would make it a more suitable gaming machine, which is definitely something worth considering for a box attached to the tv and compatible with gaming controllers. After all, if all you use it for is watching Netflix most tv can do that without any extra box.

I am not surprised since Series 5, 7 and 8 are so incremental updates. Series 6 was an exception. It was packed with importsnt features. I believe Series 9 is going to have a 40 percent faster S9 CPU and some minor changes.

Luckily there isn’t anything I’ve been really waiting for. All my my products still have some lifespan left.

I was hoping at least for a processor upgrade to the Watch. Probably not needed But it would make an Upgrade from my Series 4 more compelling.
A bit disappointing how stale the Apple Watch has become. I am still wearing my series 4.

I got my GF a Series 8 for X-Mas as her Series 3 was no longer usable. We played around for maybe 30 Minutes with the new sensors and minor new watch faces and that’s it.

I literally feel the changes made between series 4 and 8 are not even worth the effort of having to setup and repair the new watch.

I also see this as a testament to how good the Watch 4 was for its time.
Besides the Ultra, the Apple Watch Series basically hasn't received a major update since Series 5. It's crazy if the Series 9 will be little different than the recent generations.

Maybe they are waiting for Apple Watch Series X to roll out the next big product features.

Series 4 added:

Larger Display
ECG Sensor
2x Storage (16GB)
2x Faster Chip
Bluetooth 5.0

Since the Series 4, the Apple Watch has added:

Always-On Display
Larger Display
Brighter Display
Blood Oxygen Sensor
Temperature Sensor
Car Crash Detection
Compass and Altimeter
Fast Charging
2x Storage (32 GB)
Faster Chip
UWB Chip
5Ghz WiFi
Bluetooth 5.3
International Roaming
On-Screen Keyboard

That’s not counting the Ultra model. While each update to the watch may be small, collectively they make a huge difference.

I'm also on the S4 watch still. Battery swap for £85 is quite tempting.

Unless you have a stainless or titanium model you could easily grab an S6 for not much more and gain a lot of features.

The AR/VR device makes it a very exciting year, we haven’t had a major new-category product introduction since 2014, it was about time!

I have completed my 2 year transition from Windows/Android to Apple toys. IPad pro 11 2020 (2020) IPhone 12 Pro Max (2021) Apple Watch 7 (2021) IPad Mini 6 (2022) and MacBook Air M2 (2022).
The only thing that would tempt me to upgrade would be macOS on the new M2 IPad Pro.

Don’t worry we haven’t been expecting major improvements to Apple Watch for years now so we just will continue to expect little.

And no Apple Watch Ultra does not equal Apple Watch.
