Relax. It’s a unverified rumor. You sheep believe anything.

Where in my post did I say I believe it? Did you not see where I questioned it?

Some of y’all have been REAL bold today and I am not the 1 to try it with. Don’t play with me.

And if you want to be technical, NO rumor on this site is verified until it actually comes to launch day. So how about you relax.

No. iPhone customers in those places have overwhelmingly extolled the superiority of Face ID over Touch ID and the resulting notch in the screen to support it.

There are very few of us left who want things like Touch ID, 3.5mm headphone jack, and other antiquated features.

You're wrong.

It this is true, and ends up only in China - I just hope that the frequencies are compatible with Verizon so I can import one.

Touch ID is terrible. It never worked. If my hands were wet, sweaty it was terrible.
Face ID works flawlessly on my desk, at night when i'm in bed, when i'm riding my bike, at the gym. When i go for a run.

Touch ID never did any of those things. I hope it never comes back

So, Apple can't do it for everyone else, but magically they can do it for China ? umm

Here in Australia, i would go back to entering passwords if i had never gotten used to TouchID as 'convenient' as at least here, police can force you...

I wouldn't even trust the law with cannot unlock, because there will be those that will.

Apple can keep faceID instead of forcing it on users, the fingerID worked perfect with no complaints and we didn't have to pay more or deal with the notch. FaceID is like the touchbar of the MBP, forced on you without asking for it.

I F***ing hate Face ID. Have to pick it up on my desk, Have to look right at it in the middle of crowded Metro stations to get through the barriers, doesn't work when I'm in bed etc etc. I would happily go back to Touch.

Never is quite a strong word.
Wondering why it works for hundreds of millions of people.

Do u always have wet fingers or used just another finger for setup o_O?

Put me down for a cheaper TouchID iPhone. I really hate the notch on the newer models, and the whining from those that use (or try to use) FaceID make me disinclined to "upgrade". I am sticking with my SE until this becomes a real product.

It works about 80% of the time for me, but it is very slow to unlock my S-10+. For me, Face ID is super fast when it works, which is about 60% of the times. I have to get the phone angled just right or it fails.

That’s my dream iPhone, but I bet it would be really thick and heavy and expensive. I’d still get it, though.
I have an LG V40 that has all of those things (headphone jack, touch id, superior DAC) and it's roughly the same size and thickness as my iPhone 6S+. It's probably bigger than the current Apple iPhones, but so is my 6S+. The V40 and the 6S+ are small enough for me. The V40 has a superior DAC, not just to the iPhones, but to just about any mobile phone out there for wired sound. My 6S+ remains my main goto phone for common use as I generally prefer iOS to Android (for updates and security), for its easy integration with my iPad and iMac, and if I'm doing air travel I can use the headphone jack for wired headphones without worrying about battery life.

If they do this, I will buy a gray market iPhone.

It's not ideal of course, ideal would be to bring back the bezel and the home button. I HATE HATE HATE the trend toward no-bezel phones, how are you supposed to hold the stupid things? Every time I touch an iPhone X-something I end up touching it in the wrong place. It's idiotic.

The notch doesn't bother me nearly as much as the lack of a bezel at the bottom. But Face ID needs to die, it's less secure and more annoying at the same time.

Face ID was cool in 2017 when Under Display Finger Print Sensor wasn't possible.
times have changed..it's time to move on to what's a superior user experience and a superior solution.(Under Display Finger Print Sensor).

Agreed, you cannot achieve a bezel less display as long as you have FaceID. You also have an added $100 at least to the customer to implement FaceID over what an under display FPS costs.

I currently use a OnePlus 7 Pro and the FPS, while optical, works great.
I much prefer it over a face unlock solution.

I'd take a cheaper iPhone with Touch ID over a more expensive one with Face ID. I never once thought that Touch ID could be improved or that it's slow or cumbersome to use. I'm sure Face ID is great too, but it comes at a higher cost. I'd like the option to keep Touch ID and keep the cost down. I hope Apple returns to keeping a "budget" iPhone around with older technology, except with new processors to support the latest iOS.

I prefer touchID for safety purposes when driving. I keep my phone in my pocket while driving and can use Touch ID to summon Siri over Bluetooth instead of taking it out of my pocket and having to look to unlock when Siri asks. That’s just dangerous, and could get you a ticket as well where I live. Hope to be able to afford a CarPlay setup at some point, but for now, holding on to my 8+ unless a better solution comes along.
So this means that when driving you are searching in your pocket for the fingerprint sensor on your phone. Some may consider that unsafe.
The Android Secure Unlock mode is much better here. One's phone can be set to be unlocked when in the presence of the cars Bluetooth signal.

Why? Just use hey Siri, and set to use while phone is locked. Or set time to require passcode to a large number of minutes. Anyway I prefer the latter.

That's probably true. Those of us who like Touch ID, 3.5 mm jacks, and other "antiquated features" like ports and reliable keyboards on laptops, have moved on or are in the process of doing so. The "few of you who are left" apparently don't care about those features. By the way, that Apple chooses to ignore various technology still widely in use does not make those technologies "antiquated." In general, follow the money. No headphone jacks equals more Apple bluetooth devices and dongles on the market. Making battery replacement and repairs / upgrades difficult decreases potential longevity of devices, making replacement a more frequent need.

Were you making such complaints about touch id for the years Apple was selling it as a feature? Likely not. Were you complaining about headphone jacks before they removed them? Likely not. Were you irritated by thickness of MacBooks and iPhones five or more years ago, or the excessive use of ports? Likely not. Whenever Apple makes decisions regarding form over function - removing 3.5mm jacks, touch id, USB and SD card readers, magsafe, and the like - all of a sudden all of those features and characteristics of Apple products of the past were "terrible". If that was so, why did you buy them and defend them when they were at the top of the Apple product roster? If Apple decided to reintroduce the jack and touch id to its phones and tablets next year, or make a thicker laptop with reliable keyboards and cooling along with plenty of ports, it would be interesting to see how all the jack hate/port hate/touchid hate/thin at all costs fans would do a turn about. I'm a long time Apple customer going back to the 80s, btw, and it has only been in the last five years or so that Apple has managed to drive me mostly away from its offerings.

The coffee is strong this morning :)

The few that are left, can't even buy a Note 10...as it comes without a headphone jack.

Those that need/want touch id, 3.5 mm jacks will have to find this tech somewhere else. I didn't realize "reliable keyboards" as feature, must be the same as "reliable batteries that don't burst into flame" is a feature.

Apple does not make battery replacements difficult. They are the same as ever, except they now display a message the battery was replaced, if not done by an authorized dealer.

Hard to tell if this particular individual complained about touch id in the past. But people have complained touch id didn't work for them, and they seemed to be in the minority. Interesting move by Apple though, if it works.

As far as the rest of your post, nothing particularly to do with touch id. I complained about headphone jacks before they were removed, but now meh. And when phones were small thickness never mattered, now that phones are larger, thickness does matter, imo. Times change, peoples values change. Apple is not immutable from turning around on a decision made in the past.

You're wrong.
I'm sure the are millions in both camps; it's the percentage in both camps that matters. I personally thought getting rid of touch-ID was really stupid. Just like I thought ditching the Appletalk port, 3.5 in floppy, optical disk and then USB 3.0 in the computer, and the analog out on the iPhone. All of those "innovations" became industry standards and I embrace them now. Apple apparently knows better than I do what I should be wanting next. I now do like face-ID and the notch is no big deal to me. (It would be nice is it worked upside down or side-ways). Regardless, I do understand that some people might prefer touch-ID so IF there are enough buyers I expect Apple to make a version for them.

How about making that Apple logo into a Touch ID sensor? It's the natural way to hold your phone and it's always within reach. Just saying..
